Living by myself was actually so much easier, single mom and two siblings. My mom was always working and I did everything domestic. We also lived on a bit of land and had some farm animals and crops so that was an experience too. Doing dishes and laundry and cleaning and bathing, watching siblings constantly, taking care of animals and remembering their medications, taking care of plants and school. It was pretty tough but it made me feel so much better when I moved out and just had to clean up after myself, cook my own food, only spent 50 dollars on a grocery trip, did my own laundry. I feel like life is easier when you’re only worrying about one person.

There’s no shame with helping out a bit at home, this generation of kids is extremely spoiled. But I feel bad for people who didn’t get to experience normal childhood. Kids should have a little bit of fun and carefreeness before having to face all the difficulties that adults face. If you can’t even give them a seldom piece of that, why bother having kids? Because it’s expected, because they are an investment, because you don’t want to be alone, because you want to continue the legacy? It’s really selfish to have kids but not be able to give them a good life.

I can't relate. I started doing house chores when I was 10. From cooking, cleaning the house, washing everyone's dishes, doing laundry. So for me when I first found myself living alone, it was a sigh of relief. I could cook or not do so if I felt like it, wash the dishes at my convenience, no many people to make the house dirty on a daily basis. Basically, no pressures of being a girl child😭 Only shock was being aware of end month

That is so funny!! My mom stopped feeding me anything but dinner once I was like a junior in high school 😂 She did pack my lunch until sophomore year though which looking back was very sweet of her

I had the same realization 😭😩 I didn’t want to learn how to cook when I was with my mom until I moved out 🥲

I also moved to London at 19. I just ate chocolate and crisps most of the time. After the first 2 weeks, I was feeling like death. I cried to my mum about it and she asked me: have you eaten? I said no. After my first lunch at the uni cafeteria, I felt incredible. I thought: Wow, eating every once in a while really makes all the difference.
