Meet the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. This small, forest woodpecker frequents woods in Canada and the northeastern U.S. in spring, before migrating to the southeastern U.S. and Central America. If you live in the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker's range, keep an eye out for their sapwells, and listen for their mewing calls. Have you seen a sapsucker lately?

I have seen one in Yellowstone. They are so fun to watch in action!
Thank you. This Sapsucker is at the top of my list for when I visit Manitoba this July.
I saw one over the last winter for the first time
I learned the YBSA mew call and discovered quite a few spend the winter in my area! 👍❤️
Other birds come to lick the sap from the holes too. A tree next to my home is so festooned with holes that I wonder how it can live.
God created these beautiful and cute birds, and it's impressive how many different kinds and breeds he has made. Praise the lord! 🙏❤
❤
Looking forward to finding some in the coming reverse-migration!
Not a lot of fiber I’d imagine
