      To be hones I cant remember. Just check around it, Remove all screws that you can see on the panel and any jack socket nuts.

      Sorry, I am up to my ears in design work. If it intermittently cuts out then it should be straight forward for a technician to repair using the video as a guide. Do you know anyone? Where in the country are you?

    Good day I need some help, I have a passport venue series 2 and someone plugged it into 240v while it was in 120v and it still works but it now has a volume threshold of half the normal amount
    What do you think is the problem cause I can’t afford to resend it to the USA for repairs
    Please help

    • @razenby

      That is a strange one. It is very unlikely that the over voltage of the AC Power input would cause a problem on the Amplifier circuitry. However it would almost definitely most likely damage the power supply circuitry. The first thing to do is to check the DC output voltages of the power supply. It has likely damaged one of the HV reservoir capacitors to break down causing an symmetric imbalance in the operation of the main bridge in the PSU. I wouldn't run it until you have checked out the caps. If you have an auto transformer you can set it to 110V and try it briefly on a 110V AC supply. If this works then it confirms the diagnosis as slightly damaged reservoir caps don't manifest on 110V supply (the large 400 volt ones).

      @@razenby when it was plugged into 240v while it was in 120v I managed to turn it off with 3seconds but it did smoke a lot, it has been working totally fine, just can’t turn up. I’ll do some research on what you suggested

    • @razenby
      @razenby  Před 2 lety

      @@musizbystokes OK. Likely the res caps are leaking or blown and if it smoked you should be able to see where it came from. The power supply chip covered in this video is a common weakness.

      @@ekindman They do that, There are two PSus - a big bridge one to power one for the Amp and one based on an infineon PWM chip. The most common fault (10%) is the infineon chip and its associated components. When I repair one now I automatically replace tit wit the latest version. They suffer fractures of the gossamer thin tracking around the connectors pins on the Mixer/input/control board. Rocking or being at all forceful with the plugs will crack the tracks so watch out.. In general this model is a bit of a pain to fix. First isolate the input board and make sure it has power and is routing signal to the amp. Then you can rule it out and concentrate on the power board. I have fixed around 30 of these and I remember that the first few took quite a while. There are definitely other amps that I prefer to repair. Do you have a schematic?
