CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Kirk (William Shatner) and Chang (Christopher Plummer) do battle as Chang quotes iconic Shakespeare.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The plot involves a peace conference between the Federation of Planets and the troublesome Klingons. The Klingons are hoping to perform a little damage control after triggering a mining disaster on one of their moons; their spokesman is the seemingly contrite General Chang (Christopher Plummer). All negotiations abruptly cease when a Klingon vessel is attacked, and Capt. Kirk (William Shatner) and Dr. McCoy (DeForest Kelley) are accused of the crime. As they stand trial for murder, Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy) and Vulcanian trainee Lt. Valeris (Kim Cattrall) try to locate the real culprits. It turns out that Kirk and McCoy are victims of a conspiracy to foment further hostilities between the Good Guys and the Klingons.

Him shouting "Cry havoc, and let slip the dogs of war!" while spinning in his chair and having the time of his life is just...the best.
haha and the klingon behind him looking round like, 'err..was that in the script?' classic!
I'd give real money if he'd shut up.
yeah Plummer is just loving the scene hamming up it every second.

Same. Bones always had the best lines. I'm a doctor and the dialogue ST4 hospital scene... I've had similar eye rolling arguments with colleagues. lol. So good.
I love that line so much.
Not gonna lie, I always thought Spock said that line. I just realized after watching that scene an untold amount of times that it was Bones. 😅
@@JKat316 I wouldn't expect you to lie. Why should you?
@@JKat316Spock? Lol no way would he have said that. Definitely a Bones line!
William Shatner has the best "Fire!" ever.
Khan had a pretty good one too.
Mr. Worf......... Fire
Very classy
Sulu had a really close second
"Fhiheeeah"
I love McCoy yelling "WE'VE GOT A HEARTBEAT!" -- about a torpedo.
Logical for both Spock and McCoy to be working on it as because of Spock sharing his Katra with McCoy, McCoy now had Spock's technical knowledge.
What an actor. What a career. What a life.
RIP Mr Plummer. Thank you for all you gave us.
1:30 Such glorious Kirk-age!!!!
The fist clench is the best part.
1:31
1:32
Right up there with "KHAAAN!" in THE WRATH OF KHAN.
If we are going with the clinch fist, we have to go back to the original series too with the famous "Kirk Chop" he would do on the back of their necks or the 2 handed Kirk Chop on their backs....lol
I love that we don't actually see his clenched fist on screen, but we know it's there lol
The way Sulu says,"Target that explosion and FIRE."he and Kirk with both of their spaceships, they double teamed with their shots to take out their enemy.
Too bad Takei and Shatner did not get along on the set.
Love how Sulu says,"Target that explosion and fire!"
Pretty much the best best ever harbinger of destruction coming Chang’s way.
Sulu’s manner just screams “ _Now_ it’s a fair fight!”
Yes , but what about “ target that point in space where the photon torpedoes are coming from and fire “ might have been a better option ? I never understood why it was that we could see the photon torpedoes coming out of an invisible point of space but a state of the art 24th century starship with a mega computer and targeting systems that the US air force could only dream about , just was not able to fire back until they saw a big explosion. 😮😮
Captain Sulu!!!
My favorite line from Sulu is "fly her apart then."
I like how the Klingons know when they're screwed ..they stand facing death on their feet
The are all think "oh shi..."
And this one goes out standing and quoting Shakespeare.
Well on a Klingon bridge only two people get to sit lol
It's a good day to die!
Wow, after all the many times I've watched this movie, I've never noticed that. The torpedo is launched, Chang stands, the other Klingon stands too. It hearkens back to the line earlier in the movie. "Better to die on a our feet, than live on our knees". They certainly mean it. This is why Nicholas Meyer is a great writer, little moments like this.
Christopher Plummer’s “cry havoc,” is one of the franchise’s iconic lines.
You can say that about pretty much everything that he says in this movie.
What Mark Antony said upon seeing Cesar assassinated. Basically, saying should I walk away and not say what I have seen? Or cry HAVOC! And let slip the dogs of war?
1:25 most badass torpedo launch in the history of cinema. EVER. Shat rules!

Yes. Could've just read his lines. But instead delivered masterfully.
Well said and me too.
"To be, or not, to be" is still one of my favorite final lines uttered by any Star Trek villain. Plumber delivers it with such finality, with hints of pride and shock. Once he realizes that the torpedo is going to hit, he doesn't cry out in rage or terror, he simply accepts the fact that Kirk has outsmarted him, stands to his feet with the rest of his crew and accepts his death.
The Only Way A Warrior Should Go, Honorably
You have not experienced Shakespeare until you have read him in the original Klingon.

@@starcrafter13terran , Spock did [not] say that.
(Edit) Actually, Dr. McCoy said that.
The main thing I love about these final scenes is that each character has a significant role in them:
Kirk: Leads the crew
Spock: Makes the plan on how to track Chang's ship
Uhura: Mentions rather mundane equipment that'll actually track the ship
Bones: Modifies a torpedo with Spock
Chekov: Fires the torpedo
Scooty: Stops the assassin down on Khitomer
Sulu: Provides back-up to his former crew
Took me years to notice this and it truly showcases how well the characters clicked
Even how Excelsior backs up Enterprise in destroying the Bird of Prey.
That's one of the reasons I loved Nicholas Meyer as a director. He knew how to make these characters feel like they were needed to run this ship. It wasn't just two hours of Kirk saving the galaxy.
Sulu's line about "fly her apart then" was epic to me too. He absolutely refused to leave them to their death
No OTHER crew in Star Trek has had that Chemistry NUFF SAID @@@!!!!!
I love how the Excelsior took some hits to give time for them to modify the torpedo.
Seeing the Enterprise and Excelsior both tag team torpedoing that Bird was always a fun scene...like two old friends giving a Bully a beat down

Where's That Damn Torpedo!?!
I saw Star Trek Vi at the Grauman Chinese Theatre in Hollywood with my parents. I was celebrating my 25th. Birthday at the time and going to see the movie was my present from my parents. When this scene came, the whole theater erupted and applauded. It was awesome!!! Very few films have achieved this feat and I have been lucky to be at some of them.
Kirk's line is awesome, but Sulu at 1:53 is epic as well!
Of all 6 of Star Trek Movies involving Shatner-Nimoy-Kelley etc, this was my favorite. The ending was especially thrilling. Some of my favorite quotes are here: "Cry havoc!! etc."
Seconds later, lunatic Chang spouts, "I am as constant as The Northern Star!! (Why didn't he say 'North Star?')" And the always sarcastic Bones comes back brilliantly with, "I'd pay real money if he'd shut up!!" Which is exactly what he and Spock do .. forever ... when they send Chang a special gift .. the torpedo.
Probably the best Trek film but you forgot to mention one of the best lines in the movie. "Sir we'll fly her apart"
Sulu: " Fly her apart then damn it"
He's Quoting Shakespeare's Julius Caeser:
I could be well moved if I were as you.
If I could pray to move, prayers would move me.
But I am constant as the Northern Star,
Of whose true fixed and resting quality
There is no fellow in the firmament.
The skies are painted with unnumbered sparks;
They are all fire, and every one doth shine;
But there’s but one in all doth hold his place.

“I’d give real money if he’d shut up!”

Andrew Chapman it totally took me out of the moment for Generations to the p point that this many years later, it's still a major distraction to the conclusion of Generations.

Absolutely. Amen to that!
Bones, where's my torpedo? Not only is this scene the best scene in "Star Trek VI", it is one of the best scenes in the entire Star Trek movie franchise. It starts of perfectly with Chang (The late Christopher Plummer in an excellent performance.) reveling in overconfidence and arrogance and he causes chaos. Seeing his words get shoved back down his throat as he watches the modified photon torpedo on its inevitable collision with his ship that he thought was invulnerable is nothing short of phenomenal. Phenomenal is a good word to describe the sequence of Spock and McCoy modifying the photon torpedo. I always enjoyed that. In my opinion, the late DeForest Kelley and the late Leonard Nimoy had their best scenes together in the movies. That does not mean all of their screen time together in the original series was bad, but they just seemed to be better on the big screen. WHERE'S THAT DAMN TORPEDO!
The very first time I ever heard a crowd cheer in a theater was when we all saw that damn Bird' take six torpedoes, but not seven, and then blow the hell up. :D

Rest in peace Christopher Plummer.
May you join the stars and always shine endlessly as you did in life.
You're absolutely right- and I believe there is no comparison between the two, although having each of the actors "sign off" with their autographs before the credits reminded me that I was watching the finale of something great. A wonderful company of players. . A great Sci Fi series.

At 1:49, Chang should invoke the closing words -- amended slightly -- of every Laugh In episode. Say goodnight, Chang! (Chang replies ...) "Goodnight, Chang!!"
Seen this dozens of times, just now noticed the small detail of the Klingon helmsman in back grabbing the console bracing for impact
Why are all Klingon captains renaissance men?
Better ask why Chekov believes Russians invented everything in the world.
@PaletFire Possibly the closest Spock comes to frivolity and yet the line is delivered to beautifully. Coupled with McCoy's appropriate "touche" reply of "Fascinating" make for a seemingly light hearted but intimately powerful exchange. Great writing!
