Andy - Jak na to + styl
This thing is a total beast. I love how you put in details that some leave out like the errors so newbies like me to hobby can know that even long timers don't always get it right the first time
Glad you like those details as well. And ye sits a monster.
Another great video Andy. I like that you leave in stuff like painting the windows red, not liking it and updating it on the spot. An awful lot of painting videos are edited to look like everything goes perfect the whole way through and that just isn't the way it works in real life.
I’m glad you liked those mistake parts as well. I do believe it’s an important part of the hobby. Mistakes happen. They can always be fixed.
Excellent. Looks great
Cheers pal.
Great tutorial! Thanks for sharing this.
Anytime pal.
Awesome Andy - Can't wait to see the rest of the units painted. Very excited.
I’m also looking forward to seeing them all done. Glad your liking the videos.
Awesome work Andy! Your content always helps to break down barriers to painting large models and makes it accessible. Cheers man 👍🏼
Anytime pal. Thanks for the support.
I love the Votann minis and you did an excellent job on this thing. Looks badass
Cheers pal. Yes I’m a huge fan.
The fortress turned out great! Such amazing work!
Thank you as always pal.
Great video nice paint job … looking forward to getting one of these myself …. Thanks for sharing 👍🍻
Anytime pal.
This looks great. One day I’ll have this kit and this vid will be a great help
Glad you liked it and you will live it when you get it.
Looks awesome dude👍🏽
Appreciate that pal.
Another great, easy to follow video. I was fully intending to pick up one of these but then you made the King Brodd video and suddenly I'm saving up for him instead 😂
HahahHa solid choice. King brodd is a beast.
Nice work man!
Cheers pal
Really nice job! After seeing this I am going to do the stippling method.
That’s awesome to hear! Let me know if you have any questions!
Awesome dude. I hope you love it.
great video
Appreciate the comments, thanks!
Looks great! Definitely gives off that moonbuggy vibe which I'm pretty sure they were going for. I've never really enjoyed painting tanks but thanks to you and a few others I've gotten better at doing it. Still not my favorite things to paint though. 🤣
Same. Not my favourite thing to paint but I do love the result.
Love it
Cheers pal.
I agree, the window struts (frames?) are better in black. It breaks up the front of the tank even more...
Thanks pal. I agree.
I really dig this, but I do think you should do a little weathering on it, something to pick out all those black details that still look a little base primered, a slight edge highlighting pass on some of the red, etc. But yeah, looking great so far :D
Oh for sure. I love 100% agree.
Love your speed paint videos. I have a thought, and for sure because you are running a channel I think people will follow, that Chaos Black primer is WAY too much money for what it does. Maybe, I'm guessing, that it's because you want some consistency with your Abaddon black?
But it's no better a spray than a Krylon or other good home store primer that sells for like 1/6th the price. You're already being careful touching up with Abaddon black after your red coats....it's really, imo, not a significant amount of more time to go ahead and just Abaddon black the other parts. Really, save yourself some money and, actually, the quality is often better on primer.
I understand that and agree you could just honesty go without it. It would be a brighter result but would work. As for using other primers im very nervous about doing that as they are not designed to be used for miniatures so may clog and ruin the model.
Another great video, though quite a lot of what you thought were lights were probably viewing slits for looking out like on the doors etc.
I thought that same. But in the codex there glowing. So they are slights but light once.
Exited I’m going to try this with blue and see what happens ! I have to paint 3 so it will interesting
Oh very cool! Hope they turn out well!
Just about to start a Votann army and these tutorials are exactly what I need! Thank you! Can I ask what size of the Opus dry series you use in this video please?
Anytime pal. Glad you liked it.
Oh and I use a bunch of sizes but mostly large and extra large.
Will you do a video on how to weather this? I.e. damage and dirt
I've just received my land fortress and would like to try your style
That’s a very good idea. I hadn’t thought if making it a video. Maybe now I will.
@@MediocreHobbies I look forward to watching and learning :-)
Great vid! Do you attach your canopies with superglue or plastic glue? Thanks!
PVA glue so as not to fog it up.
Nice! thanks for uploading such good content :) A couple questions: Don't you miss a slight wash for the hull? something like going over the edges with nuln oil, carroburg crimson or something like that. Also, how are you planning on doing the wheathering both for the tank and the troops? I was thinking about using AK grey dust enamel paint on the boots/wheels plus doing some sponge damage with black and metal but i'm not sure if it will work.
Yes i need to get my hands on a larger selection of weathering powders for this and no I think it works with out the shade. But could be added if it’s your preference.
Hello, Nice video, where do you find that big brush used at the begining of the video, I nightclub get one for the sagittarius
Artis opus pal Great brushes.
blast some matt varnish on this bad boy so the decals/transfers don't shine so much. I really want to have a crack at the stippling technique now. I paint my 40K tanks how I paint my scale model tanks with an airbrush etc. Considering having a go at a stipple a WW2 vehicle as don't have any 40k tanks in the stash!
It would work great for a WW2 vehicle! And yeah I sometimes do that with the decals, the vehicle just took a lot longer to paint that expected and the video was due out 😅
That thing is huge! Just how big is it? Looks like the old NASA moon rover has been working out.
That stippling technique really is great. I used it on my Spartan and I'm super happy with the results.
That’s ace dude. And ye that exactly what I picture when I look at it.
Andy , just a question , could you do vehicles with contrast like space marines?
Yep you can indeed. A good example is my black templars dreadnought.
What brushes do you recommend for stippling? Make up brushes are too soft but Artist Opus are expensive :D
Companies like army painter make a set of brushes like artis opus but more affordable maybe check them out.
I noticed your palette in this video. Where did you get it? It seems to work well for dry brushing, etc., when a wet palette shouldn’t be used.
It’s from artis opus.
What kind of brush is that, and where can I get it?
Thanks for the comment, they're from Artis Opus, and I talk about them more here! czcams.com/video/8xwmEMrdaRw/video.html
what is the black mat ontop of your cutting mat ? and where can i get one
It’s a thing you can buy from artis opus it’s for drybrushing. It’s amazing.
@@MediocreHobbies thank you
I have a couple questions.
1: did you prime the canopies?
2: how did you attach said canopies, with super glue?
I did not prime them no.
And I used PVA. I know it sounds strange but is very strong when it dries and no fogging up the window.
@@MediocreHobbies thanks
Could this be done over a grey base coat instead of black?
It could indeed.
Do you have a link to the brushes you use ?
Element games in the uk sells them.
If your in Ireland check out Eirhobbies.
You don’t add some matte medium to your decals to make them less shiny and blend in more?
I still need to give it a coat of contrast medium that takes the shine away. I was just pressed for time.
@@MediocreHobbies that’s fair enough 👍🏻
This looked extremely fun to paint, my ultimate question is: How tempting was it to paint it ninja turtles themed after you assembled and primed it lol
Great video as always Andy :)
Since I grew up on the ninja turtles it was harder then I’d care to admit.
Can you tell us the dimensions of that beast please?
7 inches long 5 inches wide and just over 4 inches tall not including weapons.
I need to start a CZcams channel so I can get some free plastic
It’s that easy!
