    Its always interesting to read Kirbys margin notes and compare them to the dialogue Stan Lee went with in the balloons.

      Yes, I am certain they could bring out a book called 'Kirby's Margin notes' and it will be a massive book, as well as including the Stan Lee text as well, would be great to compare. Perhaps one day we will see something from Twomorrows etc with that ?

      @@AndrewBuckleBookReviews Yeah I remember a good few years ago Twomorrows did something like this over a few articles in a few issues of the Jack Kirby collector .I would without doubt be up for a complete book of it , it would be compulsive reading.

      @@captain_uk Jack Kirby collector mag ... love them, wish I had bought more, I have bought a number off their site in digital format as they are fairly expensive to buy here and quickly out of print and never turn up at comic marts etc. I think a margin notes book for the entire Thor / FF / etc all the pages that exist would be a brilliant book and with the final dialog. It is the sort of thing that you would see as an academic book on Elizabethan literature / Shakespeare perhaps. I have a number of Kirby / Lee etc books from Twomorrows.

      @@AndrewBuckleBookReviews Yes Twomorrows never disappoint they are defo at the forefront of of archiving comic book history particually Jack Kirby but as you know they have covered such a vast array of creators.

      Yes, they are an amazing resource for comic book history. Got quite a few of their books and will be buying 'Best Of The Best American War Comics' , American TV Comic Books (1940s-1980s) and probably, John Severin (a bit expensive at the moment). Though as usual, my pre-orders get longer and longer and occasionally trimmed.

    This is a beautiful book representing the tail end of Kirby& Sinnott run! Issue 77 was my first FF without a cover and 91 with a cover! ❤️ As always a great enthusiastic review! 😎👍🎯👋

    Good review. This looks amazing. I'm still waiting {hoping} for a reprint of 2001 A Space Odyssey.

      2001 A space odyssey artists edition / artisan edition would be something !! A Complete collection wouldn't be bad or a proper Gallery edition HB

      @@AndrewBuckleBookReviews Yes its a shame that 2001 cant be reprinted because of ownership issues.

      @AndrewBuckleBookReviews  Před 3 lety +2

      @@captain_uk Yes, perhaps the owners of 2001 rights will do at some point or finally allow Marvel at some point. I guess they want too much or something and there is probably not a huge audience for the comic volume even though I would buy it in an instance. I keep trying to get the treasury but that often goes for large amounts - hopefully a tatty copy will turn up at a comic mart and I will get it that way.

      @@AndrewBuckleBookReviews Yes I have always felt that so many fans have missed out on this wonderful series due to it not being reprinted and for me that is a massive shame, the treasury is a great read , just to see Kirbys art at that size is worth the admission price itself as they say,

    Hi Andrew. This must be your most enthusiastic book review yet. Love it! My one is in the post, but will still take months to reach me. Can't wait for it though. Will watch your review every time I run out of patience. Thanks for what you do!

    • @AndrewBuckleBookReviews

      Thank you, I was pleased to get the book in a more easy to read form. I was pleased when I got the artist edition as well but they are just not very practical. Same with the super-size volumes, they look amazing, but they are a pain to read or store anywhere. I have, I think, all the artisans so far (maybe wrong on that) and will continue with them. Truly hope that IDW bring out all their volumes in that format as well, it is such an easier format for your average house / reader as I can now dip into it, compare it to the epic / omnis etc and admire Kirby's work. Looking forward to the next two as well, Steranko and the Silver Surfer one as it has some of my favourite stories. The Star Wars one also should be good. Certain your copy will turn up soon enough. I always have loads of books on order from the States or Germany etc and they often surprise and turn up on the doorstep.

    • @gertkruger6928
      @gertkruger6928 Před 3 lety +1

      @@AndrewBuckleBookReviews I agree with your comments on the format. Bigger is not always better. I've got Jack Kirby Pencils and Inks Artisan Edition from IDW and John Romita's Spider-Man Artisan Edition, and they are definitely big enough to display the artwork optimally. The binding on my 'Fantastic Paintings of Frazetta', for example, which is bigger than these books but smaller than the Artist Editions, has already torn open. At almost $70 for the signed edition, that really does not sit good with me. Soft cover books are really better if you plan to actually read the book and not just let it sit on a shelf.

    • @AndrewBuckleBookReviews
      @AndrewBuckleBookReviews  Před 3 lety

      @@gertkruger6928 I have a few omnibus that are having serious binding issues (though most are fine). No point buying a huge book if it is just too awkward to pick up (the David Hockney Taschen comes to mind at about £2000 or so, one of the largest books I have ever seen ... I would easily prefer a smaller £12.99 Bibliotheca volume. The artist editions all seem to be well made but they just end up sitting on the floor as I have no shelves that can support their weight. The earliest and biggest I ever bought was the Mad Artists edition, it weighs a ton.

    • @gertkruger6928
      @gertkruger6928 Před 3 lety +1

      @@AndrewBuckleBookReviews £2000!!! What's their target market? The Louvre? You can buy a fairly decent original art piece on Heritage Auctions for that.

    • @AndrewBuckleBookReviews
      @AndrewBuckleBookReviews  Před 3 lety +1

      @@gertkruger6928 Yes, it does make you wonder when books come out at over £2000, though I suspect a lot of people can easily afford that. I would prefer to spend it on a decent original art piece as well, though I have a few pieces of original comic art on my wall, most were in the £20 range (picked up at the Londom comic mart)

      Yes, the Romita volume is also excellent. Looking forward to the next few as well : Silver Surfer (2022) / Steranko / Star Wars as well. I think there are only about 6 Artisans (?) so far. Really hope IDW continue to bring them out
