In Uttrakhand (and I think in other hilly states too) people in the villages prepare organic drinks from local produce like buras, Malta etc. You can dilute them in water and drink it any time like rooh avza. People living in the cities can order them online. They are way more tasty and healthier than rooh avza which is basically sugar syrup.

This is mostly unheard of in the south. Technically it’s the drink of the northern plaines. In the south, the buttermilk was, is and probably will always remain the drink to beat the heat.

Yessss sugarcane juice is my absolute favourite and buttermilk is the most common summer milk.
