- There is a new shark thriller on Netflix called Under Paris, also titled Sous la Seine, and this is my official review and reaction video. Did you like the movie trailer? In summer 2024. Paris is hosting the World Triathlon Championships on the Seine for the first time. Sophia, a brilliant scientist, learns from Mika, a young environmental activist, that a large shark is swimming deep in the river. To avoid a bloodbath at the heart of the city, they have no choice but to join forces with Adil, the Seine river police commander.

Just want to mention, I was so satisfied when Mika was eaten. Itâs messed up but she was annoying me. Felt bad for her girlfriend tho, she didnât deserve that.
I was cheering out loud when she got eaten lmao
Lmfao so was I đ
Lmao just finished watching it, and I'm definitely with you on that one!
Biting a cop trying to save your life, that's a level of stupid I haven't seen in a while.
Yes!! I was so annoyed with her character and cheered when that scene happened. đ
I got so annoyed by the dumb shitty script that I rooted for the shark to kill everyone. And it did. So... 5 stars đ€Ł
Me too. I was cheering for the shark, especially when triathlethes just stayed in the water, looking around instead of heading for shore
why would you continue to watch a bad movie? Don't blame netflix.
Sharks vs woke, I cheered for the Sharks
đđđđ
Same here. I don't want to spoil but I was not 100% satisfied by the job. So 4,5 stars
The third act goes batshit crazy off the rails in the best way possible and it's highly entertaining
I loved it, the CGI was awful and great at the same time and the movie just ends with the best ending possible, in all honesty I would pay theater prices to see the second one if they ever made a sequel simply because it was nothing what I expected and it made me laugh by how bad it was
@@mizzourita3896 yeah it's one of those it's bad but in a good way or it's bad but in a entertaining way kind of movie and yeah i would watch the sequel in theater too
The highest compliment I can give a movie: "This is so stupid I LOVE IT!"
@@mizzourita3896 i dont know how they could make a second one, however i didnt know what the hell was gonna happen next anyways. i mean of course that the triathlon was gonna get munched on lol
There are lots of dumb decisions made by the characters in this move like swimming beside a dead whale, as a doctor they should've known that's a big no no. Yet still fun to watch
Haha correct!
Why is it a no no to swim beside a dead whale? Can you explain please.
@@sum1606 because it was said that whale carcasses causes sharks to be on a feeding frenzy mode
Thanks
I just watched this and I can't believe how much fun it was! Make no mistake, it gets stupid but in the best way possible. The ending made me laugh out loud. HIGHLY recommend!
Put it up there with sharknado!!!!
I can appreciate movies that are original like this for sure. Everything is a remake or a throw-away blockbuster.
â@garywenzlaff6918 lol maybe there will be an Under Paris film series nextđ
Here is a fun fact, Paris will hold the next Olympics in the summer đ
â@ShindlersFiist goood movie i love the ending, i was expecting the usual scenario they will kill it in the end, it was unexpected ending that's why i like
If you have a big ass shark... you call LL Cool J. Real ones know. Deepest, bluest, his hat is like a sharks fin
This was honestly the most SATISFYING shark movie i've seen in a while, i was rooting for the shark the entire movie.
I loved when Mika was eaten, i laughed so hard and long.
Same, I was cheering lol
Sameđđ€Ł
There should be a category called "Scientist is dismissed and ends up being right about really bad thing"
Stupid things people have done
1.swim next to a dead whale
2.The mayor not stoping the whatever swimming thing is going on even tho 12people die (literally the second most stupid character)
3.mika being the no1 stupid, risking people life to save a shark
4.the swimmers being insanely blind, not seeing the shark coming
5.people pushing each other like a idiot
6.people not believing each other
7.that is not how evolution works....the shark CANNOT be in the river AT ALL,she was born in the sea, there is NO WAY the shark can adapt the fresh water, when she evolved she was in the GOD DAM PACIFIC OCEAN,there is no need to evolve and adapt the freshwater
Well yea normal sharks that were born in the pacific oceans can't adapt to fresh water in a river but in the movie they find out its not a mako shark but a brand new species that can reproduce asexually.
@@jadawilliams2319 but they don't need to be born asexual
â@pizzatime3334 well yeah the movie implies that but since the movie introduces a brand new species of shark I wouldn't go out of my way to apply real life logic to a literal movie.
If you are Parisian, the mayor really is satire of our actual mayor who has been obsessive in the past years of getting the Seine ready for people to swim into it at the Olympics. And it is the most hilarious character!
Also there os the moment when they try to take a sample from the Shark. Like why ddos this team that STUDIES SHARKS doesn't have a boat to CAPTURE SHARKS. Like there is this whole thing where you bait the shark, put it inside a tiny water pool in the middle of the boat, take a sample, put a tracker on it and then you release it. Doing that in an open space is just a way to get yourself killed.
Seeing people do incredibly dumb things IRL every day, complaining that the characters in a film do things that make no sense makes little sense. The idiot plot in movies in 2024 could almost be said to mimic the world we live in. Seriously we just went through a period in recent history where you had a sizable number of people that didnât believe what experts were telling them; have we forgotten that already?
Also to see a shark movie where you actually get to see the results of a shark attack was so refreshing I was surprised how many shark films out there have no gore factor whatsoever. I mean why even make a film in this genre without gore?
funfact la seine is the dirtiest river in europe and you see absolutly nothing when you go in it except poop and bad chemicals
You speaking from experience?đ
@@user-eq5ud9tp8o nose and eyes yes, worst river ever
I love shark movies and this was such a fun watch. Felt like an updated story of Jaws, nobody ever listening to the prosđđ
The Shallows was a refreshingly thrilling shark movie that took itself pretty seriously and had surprisingly good characterization. Not a masterpiece, but it's the best shark film since Jaws in my opinion.
This was better
I agree!! Iâm aware this new film is straight popcorn fun and it does its job, but you donât care about anyone. Literally a crap script.
@@nickm8874 not really lol. The CGI is worse and all review scores are worse than for the shallows
The visual of the shark underwater is so good in this movie,
No, cgi sharks ALWAYS move too quickly. This was no exception. The attacks looked very unnatural
Fun fact: they used lots of real sharks. Except when they move too fast. Such a good movie, the WW2 shells at the beginning and the echo at the end, just great story telling
not even my shark in maneater was that badass.
Itâs weird that people donât listen to professionalâŠNope, thatâs normal. We even do the opposite what we know is right. We all know sleeping early, donât eat junk food, etc. are good for our health but we do the opposite anyway. Obvious things like following the traffic rules, we break the rules sometimes.
Just because something is true doesnât mean we will listen.
Another fantastic video! Thank you Austin!
The ending was bat shit crazy. lol.
Itâs a bit like Donât look up. The movie with the meteorite coming and nobody listening to the scientists.
I donât believe that 3 human beings wrote this film. Thereâs almost no real human logic to be found in it lol.
Fiction bro
@@Azaanu1022 I agree and I have a both tolerance for human characters doing dumb things but these werenât least teenagers doing dumb things but every single person lmao. It was just too much to swallow. I can take the fun premise (adore âDeep Blue Seaâ) but non-stop bad decision making by every person was too much lol
@@drewmcgill5290 What do you mean by desicion makinh
@@Azaanu1022 making bad decisions lol. Donât know how else to put it? But if youâre looking for a quick example of bad decision making is them still having the water Olympics go on even thereâs sharkâs in there and they know it for a fact lol. Itâs obviously setup for b-rated action and fun but it barely even did that once it started going near the end.
@@drewmcgill5290 the mayor acted like a narcissist and she and her advisor were not cancelling the triathlon that they spent 1.3 billion euros on
Deep Blue Sea is my shit so I will be watching this however my hopes were always low for it so not surprised it's not good
That movie is so fun
I enjoyed it...Comparing it with other shark movies , they really tried
Giving the movie a 7 out of 10
My favorite part of this movie is where the leader of Millennial band of 'save the ocean' activists jumps into the water, and when the adults yell at her to get the hell out, she was resistant and said "the sharks won't attack humans", then right away she and 11 other Millennials get eaten.
Gen z actually, I'm one of the last millennials in terms of years and I'm 28. No millennials are below 27
Bro thsi movie is better than 95% of the American shark movies, too many hidden massages
Thatâs not saying much đ
The Shallows is by far the best shark film.
Deep Blue Sea was the last best Shark movie for me!
The moment i saw the trailer, it reminded me of deep blue sea.
Itâs dire, till the last 5 mins then itâs a real surprise.
I just subscribed because you were wearing a Steelers shirt ! HERE WE GO STEELERS âŒïž
Fellow Steelers fan!!! Letâs get it!
Just finished. Satisfied. Part 2, Netflix?
I was expecting much worse, but I admit there is some enjoyment to be had with this one.
Is no one literally talking about the kid in the beginning who joked about his teachers team all getting eaten by sharks (in front of her, too) and the little monsters all finding that hilarious? đł did that unnerve anyone else lol
No? You just have thin skin and need to loosen up
@Joey.Johnson1722 listen to me you little whiney baby boy.
I was wondering if I was going to see that kid in the end where everything went crazy
In the middle of watching this right now! Also Jason from Sinister Cinema mentioned you letting him know about this movie! Super cool. Got his notification but didnât get yoursâŠweird! Been watching you longer than him? Anyway, thanks for your review too! Love your channel, been a subscriber foreverrrrr!
Thanks for letting me know!!:)
@@AustinBurke No problem Austin!!
Iâm already excited for the sequel.
I Watch it last night! It was amazing!
I love that movie, and I want more, like episode 2, just to see more!
I think the best scenario in another city like Nyc they got a lot of rivers or Venice, they should work on for second one đ€
It shows at the end of the movie sharks r moving to London!! So maybe part 2 will be under London!!
In my opinion, Under Paris is a good concept executed relatively poorly. Itâs not entirely horrible, but it could be better.
Especially the characters, like mika was just annoying
So basically a Dr Faucy type situation. Where the expert is screaming what must be done, but others say to just drink Bkeach and use phosphorus lights đđ
I love shark movies. I'll watch it. Recently No Way Up was very good and Something in the Water was terrible. I'm so down for this! đđ»â€đŠđŠđŠ
If you like good shark movies avoid this one đ
Yes, more shark cheese please. This was good Summer fun. I hope we get a franchise out of this.
I'm always down for a killer shark movie even if its bad so honestly I can't wait to check this out. Also, Xavier Gens made Frontiers which is still one of my favorite French Horror films of all-time.
Yes Frontier(s) is the Best!
Shark de Triomphe!
great sleeper
I would give it a strong 5
I watched Under Paris. It was very good movie
The way you wrote that makes you look like a bot.

why can a 2 months old can be prengant?
When sophia jumped into the SHARK INFESTED WATERS! sharks i mind you that killed her husband and friends. she is aware that could kill her too thats why she brought a harpoon. So like why did she jumped in anyway? Like what was she trying to accomplish? That killed her character for me i did not trust her and saw her as an idiot and cheerd for the sharks the whole movie đ
Ironically, the more one has met people who dismiss "good advice" from you...for no sane reason except they have a bad attitude, this kind of "realistic script" may be more fun than I would imagine!
I enjoyed the movie so much, it is different than other traditional shark movies. It is not a top movie but surely enjoyable
I thought when the shark was swimming throught the bombs looked sick although how dumb it is i enjoyed this movie
I actually enjoyed it. I can understand where you're coming from especially at the end which is very weird. It's better than the Meg movies tho đ
Big dumb fun!! It was enjoyable in a âjust go with itâ kinda way.
Hated Sophia from the start. She forced them to take the sampleđ€Šđœââïž
5 minutes into the movie i had to look up a review, because these "marine biologists" seemed SHOCKED that there was more than 1 shark around a whale carcass. Why dont screenwriters consult professionals?...
It is not weird how people reacts, it reflects reality, where politicians wonât listen to scientists warnings because they focus on short term and are unable to grasp the full scope of the impact, until actual catastrophe occurs in their face (not just climate issue)âŠ
About a third of the way in, I started cheering on the sharks. The characters and plot are stupid and crazy.
The movie was shyte almost entirely...BUT the last 10 minutes were fun and I didnt see that coming...I liked the end a lot, so I cant complain about the view...not a total waste of time... :DDD
Great movie.
Um I don't know who was expecting some cinematic masterpiece here but it's exactly what I expected it to be...entertaining shark movie. It's not quite The Shallows, which IMO is the best of the newer shark movies, but it was fine, about same level as The Meg movies and those were big Hollywood $$ productions so what does that tell you.
Oddly, my biggest issue was the English title..."Under Paris" sounds stupid and is confusing but I guess they assume all Americans are dumb and don't know what the Seine is, in that my point being like which sounds better for a shark movie..."Under New York" (???) or..."Shark in the Hudson"?
I think people not listening to specialists and cientists is grounded in reality, don't you think? Money always speak louder
Fear movie ! Rewound it many times to catch the replay đđ
Is this movie in french with English subtitles?
Yes, great movie i highly recommend
It has an English dub as well
Just watched it, and it was alright not amazing but not too tragically awful. I won't watch it again but it did entertain me for the night. Was super glad when Mika got eaten, Adil was handsome but by gosh him and Sopha swimming after the shark after it decimated their boat and ate most of their friends made me screech like why are you swimming after this shark? what are you going to do? scream at it? and then them watching the bombs goes off like move? it's crazy how like the shark was making a blood bath and the bombs were going off but no one was getting out of the water like come on!
I absolutely love when movies go full bore bat shit at the end like this and Cabin in the Woods.
Had zero hopes for this movie, finished 5/5. Loved it
Lead actress is smokin'.
It was a fun movie! Suspension of disbelief? Ofcourse! Stupid decisions made by characters? Ofcourse! Itâs just an entertaining movie! You just have to take it for what it is! Imo, the third act was a blast and I liked the ending!
Just watched the movie, it was good !!!!
This movie was actually the best written movie I've seen in years.
While you may say characters made foolish decisions. It's exactly how we are today.
It basically a mirror of how foolish society really is today.
First, we have the activists that just make dumb decisions one example is them sitting in the middle of the highway. Like that will stop polution.
Next we have the politicians, who only care about their image. Screw anyone who dies.
Next we have people that don't believe anything until you see it, because social media has made it if you don't have video proof it didn't happen.
All that to sayif we really think how bad society has become its laughable.
I thought it was good! I have a deep fear of sharks so it has my blood pumping!
I thought this was the prequel to Inside Paris; my bad đ
LOL
đ
Where the fk did the water come from that it flooded the whole of Paris? Can someone explain?
the bombs explode all the structure (not the bridge) who was contain the water they talk in the begining how the shark get inside from all those gates who contain.
This film feels like what happens when PETA and AI come together to write a script and is the results.
Could have been better but sadly it wasnât.
Peopel talk about wanting the sharks to eat everyone cause they're so stupid, but most of the feast is made up of innocent people that didn't even know of the roumors of sharks in the Seine. Also the scenes are way better, gorier, more intense and more realistic than The Meg.
But it's French so 1 star.
Went in blind with the film and have to say it was a alright film.
I enjoyed it. Yes it was cheesy at times and voices being dubbed made things awkward. Iâm ready to see a sequel
try to watch movies in original version ...
@@alvarezlatino75 I do that a lot when I watch Spanish speaking films. Just use the CC for English.
The makers of this crap played too much Maneater game...
Thankfully cause thats what made the movie so fun đ
This was a great shark movie! Enjoyed the whole movie.
Hungry Shark Evolution/World ahh Shark đđđđ
All I was thinking watching the movie was that there was so much food... sharks fin soup it delicious, it will prob take a year or two to get them extinct as asian people loove to eat shark, and its expensive af too
My favourite part is when the shark flips a police boat by travelling 500kph straight up in a shallow river. I too am mentally ill and gae.
They just run and push people in the water
Is it European things that nobody in a safe cage????
Nope. More like a Netflix thing.
Liked it; entertaining, but the movie can't choose between comical style and real blockbuster; that's the weak point.....
I really wanted to like this movie, but all the "Save the sharks gay girl power" bullsh!t was more than I could stand.
Too much tragedy. It should have been prevented. I did not enjoy it as it was based on what should have been avoided.
The stupidity in this film is what was entertaining. It was so ridiculous in so many aspects. Too many to list.
Despite the movie being shit, it was fun shit and I liked it, but still a bit shit. (6/10)
There is bombâs in the water from i think from second world war, but who the f let bombâs in there river. But there is gonna be under paris 2. Like a zombie plagueđ
I hated it, sorry. Its so annoying that the characters took so many dumb decisions, it was wayyy too much for me. THEY WOULDN'T STOP THROWING THEMSELVES IN THE WATER WTF
Itz a good movie bro i dnt knw why the hate u were entertained right?
In small spurts but very small. The stuff in-between is so poorly written, and itâs much less action-packed than it should be.
Trainwreck bad this whole movie.
alot of stupid decisions made
Did the shark bring Atlantic Ocean waters under Paris with it as well? That premise is laughable since the Seine is a fresh water river and Paris is a landlocked city... Sharks have to have a salt or brackish water environment to survive. This shark looks to be a large Great White, not a Bull Shark which scientists and sportsmen have evidenced in real life, being the only species capable of adapting to fresh water over its gills. Unless this movie is a parody of the Shark on the loose genre, it looks like a pass even thought it's on Netflix. Intelligent suspension of disbelief only goes so far...
If you had seen the film, they explain with scientific theories the mutations of this new species of shark which finds itself making its nest under Paris. I'm not saying it's done intelligently but it's part of the storyline.
This plot point is addressed in the movie.
This movie is asylum level mockbuster tbh hahaha
@@amphiprionocellaris3450 Then the writers of this Asylum level steaming pile need to crack open a marine biology book or two. The core premise of it even as plot device like the Flat Earth theory, is born of stupidity if the movie is to have some semblance of reality on this Earth. As well, mutant sharks have been done well before this flick and envisioned far more effectively, so there's nothing new on view. That said, I'll bet it would've flown better if the film was set on a doppelganger parallel dimension Earth. As for watching it, well let
's just say this one sits at the bottom of my "must see" list. I made the mistake of following the Sharknado series and they left a such a lingering bad taste in my mouth. At least "The Meg" duology was entertaining. Those were dumb fun popcorn films and though the science and tech was half-baked believable, the writers and directors, were fully aware of what they were creating.
Best since Jaws ? Really ?
They literally copied & mixed story from "Jaws-3" & "Godzilla (1998)" ...
Then just used the "Jaws" & "Alien" formula of not showing the monster much ...
Instead of theme park its triathlon ...
Monster made in the Pacific ...
Politicians attitude & motive are same again ...
Protagonist faced loss personally to monster ...
Instead of new species of Godzilla, its new species of Shark ...
Instead of radiation, it's pollution ...
Climax was the saving grace - again a "What if" scenario where Godzilla & kids did escape in the end ...
Did I say best since Jaws? Lol
Maybe watch my video again đ
It was as dumb as fuck but it was entertaining It was better than that cluster fuck that was Godzilla x Kong
they are all out of croissants so human flesh will do
This is the worst sharkmovie EVER.
Jaws wasn't all that anyway its so over hyped
End was so dumb ......
Amma shark movie nerd but maaan I was dissapointed with this. Im laughing t the movie not with the movie. The catacombs scene is just stupid. This movie is just stupid.
