Before this last recent Mardi Gras season the city cleaned out over 93,000 lbs of beads from the city basin. They finally decided to use gutter buddies, they had to rip up bourbon street the fall of last year to clean all the pipes and drainage that was ruined. There is also quite a smell to that place I don't think I'd buy it if it was a candle lol

Yes, the open carry law is something we enjoy lol We'll typically get an alcoholic slushy from Chicken Willy's and shop around. We noticed that NOLA offers a *lot* of walking tours and almost all of them involve going into a bar first and carrying your drink the rest of the way; even some of the haunted tours have this. I'm not mad about it haha Another drink we found while visiting, apart from the hurricane, was the grenade. Pretty good!

  • @vintagetravellingweirdo3022

Totally agree with tour title... Just what we said when we were there!

Oh honey, a hurricane, traditionally, is every liquor you can find and juice to cover it up. Well, where I'm from anyway.
Ooh a hurricane party down here in the fall? Fun!

If you went the other way (away from downtown) on the trolley you would have passed our house on South Carrolton.

That hotel looks great - Mike and I will have to stay there if/when we go to New Orleans. And I loved you mentioning NO as being like a Disneyland for adults, considering New Orleans Square is my favorite section of Disneyland

Lived in Pensacola area for a few years - New Orleans was an easy drive for long weekends. This was all pre-Katrina. Glad to see a lot of the Big Easy is still intact! No beignets at Cafe Du Monde? Touristy but sooo worth it!

Fun video and you guys make the video lively and entertaining. Overall from what I've seen you give good backstory to the areas you visit. But, you guys FAILED TO MENTION how the African American community has played a vital role in creating the authentic masterpiece of a city that New Orleans is today. It is huge! And a major faux pas to overlook it. It wouldn't be what it is by any stretch without this major influence. It is not the French that made it what it is as you seen and enjoyed!!!!!!! Not only is the FOOD, CULTURE and the MUSIC highly attributed to the African diaspora, but New Orleans’ beloved Mardi Gras traditions are African-American, most prominently the Mardi Gras Indians and the Zulu parade that rolls behind Rex on Mardi Gras Day.

Hard to believe Katrina's devastation occurred 13 years ago. True that significant areas of NOLA...including, indeed the French Quarter.. were left relatively unscathed. Other parts not nearly as lucky.
From what I've seen the only Crescent City cuisine that might appeal to me are those beignets ..ahh well.
BTW you might be quizzed again on other city nicknames..so be prepared :)
Cheers to crushing it on your cross country cruise!!!
