I think that the Bronte family is one of the saddest. I can't even imagine the horror of burying all your children or outliving your children. That one touched me the most.
The story about the wrestling family the von Erichs is almost as tragic. Out of five brothers, four died or committed suicide. Only one is alive and not surprisingly, he refused to get into the family business and moved away to Hawaii. The brothers are buried in Dallas, Texas.
I live quite local to Howarth, the graveyard has over 10,000 graves in it, plus its on top of the hill and this is what caused the high number of deaths in the village due to the drinking water being contaminated. Its very sad but a beautiful church
Can I just say that the research that has gone into this and other documentaries from England and indeed every one of your documentaries is incredible. Quite unbelievable. The best series of docs on You Tube
ikr this type of show could last for 100's of years because their are so many famous people to cover.

I was blown away , I had no idea that 2 of the biggest books in history were written by sisters who died just years from each other, their poor father,,and it kills me that so many people think they have itso rough then you look at this.
His favorite daughter died in her teens from a fever at boarding school, his son flew into murderous rages and threatened to kill him, and he outlived all of his family. Gripping story, very gothic!
I don't know why I'm so drawn to this kind of stuff, but it's just so interesting

St Patrick's cemetery Leytonstone in London has the remains of Mary Jane Kelly, last victim of Jack the Ripper, Timothy Evens who was wrongly hanged for the murder of his wife and baby when it was later revealed it was John Reginald Halliday Christie who had murdered them instead. The case was famously known as Rillington Place. Also the family plot of the Hitchcocks. (Alfred) are there.

This has got to be the best documentary series ever. Love it. Everything about it. The painstaking research the production values and of course Arthur's fantastic narration. Thank you so much. The three English episodes are of course my favourites being a proud Brit but all are fantastic. I could listen to Arthur's voice forever. Just superb.

What makes Richard Todd so interesting is that in WW2, he was in the army and took part, on D-Day, in the taking of Pegasus Bridge. In the film, The Longest Day, he played the part of his Commander from that day and relived his experience of taking Pegasus Bridge. He even had to speak to 'himself'. He's buried in between two of his sons who both sadly committed suicide.
I hope you return to the UK - still loads more celebrity graves to visit.

His mispronunciation of film names and so on, and general grammatical mistakes, make me wonder what you mean. These videos are very entertaining, though. No one’s prefect.

"Sir Alfred Hitch-Cat!!! Beautiful little cat.. We have a cat that looks exactly like him. Solid Black, Gold Eyes, Good weight and oversees the yard. Ours lives in Florida, U.S.A. and is a really sweet little guy. Doesn't chase birds, or squirrels, Doesn't fight with other cats and keeps to himself always. We keep him well fed, to the vet and loved. Not bad for a stray that just walked into our lives.
We have a Silver Chinchilla Persian named Alfred Hitchcock. He’s illusive.

There is a Russian Orthodox monastery in Brookwood cemetery, they feed and look after resident cat, who is very cute and friendly🐈. I sometimes get the feeling that he was placed there with a purpose, to greet visitors and comfort the mourners.
Being British myself, I have absolutely and so thoroughly enjoyed your tour of England's graveyards and cemeteries. I sincerely do hope you come back again soon, I cannot express to you how I have truly found these three episodes to be quite so extraordinary and researched so well. Thank you and best wishes.

The whole Bronte family made me sad. All died way too young. All didn't live past 40. All died from either tuberculosis or another disease.

I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to video all these cemeteries. Beautiful cemeteries and churches as well. I live in L.A. so the really beautiful ones are few. Thank you Arthur for putting these together and, also making a connection with the deceased and what they were known for. I was surprised that I knew so many of them for their work but, not their name.
I just got home after a 6 hour car ride...now that i see this, i don't mind sitting down for another half-hour! Thank you Arthur!

Walking in a English grave yard is crazy. Seeing grave markers from 1600’s and earlier makes you realize how young you are. RIP

My favourite actor has always been Richard Todd and it was lovely to see what a beautiful place he was I saw him a few times on stage and will never forget him, thank you Arthur glad you like our beautiful churches some are over a thousand years old.
Loved him in The High and The Mighty with John Wayne! The theme song was beautiful!

I live near liverpool and met Ken Dodd when he came in for treatment to the hospital where I worked. This was about 18 months before he died, but he was still cracking jokes, even after surgery. A true professional.

I met Rod Hull in the 70's, i was working in a grocery shop near Bingley in West Yorkshire, Rod pulled up in his car to visit another shop close by, so i grabbed a piece of paper and got his autograph, which i still have. He was a lovely man, very kind and told me he was going camping. I will always remember his lovely smile as he waved goodbye.

Vivian Leigh was such an exquisite beautiful woman to have graced the screen in the golden age of Hollywood. My favorite quote from her from "Gone with the Wind" "After all tommorow is another day".
Now Voyager is one of my favorite Betty Davis movies. Gladys Cooper was Betty's mother in the movie. She was quite beautiful in her younger days.

There’s rumor that a Wallace and gromit special is being produced with unused material that Peter Sallis recorded before he left the BBC due to health problems. I hope it’s true. Wallace and gromit was a favorite of mine growing up and was such a great show.
The epitaph on rod hulls grave is from a song in the film Oliver "Be back soon"
He played Fagin in various productions of Oliver the musical hence the reference

Hello Tom. Yes, it was singular that Gladys Cooper and Robert Morley were mentioned in the same programme but the connection not made. I have Sheridan's biography of his grandmother. Every time Hyacinth Bucket (Keeping Up Appearances) mentioned her son Sheridan I thought of him. I collect postcards of Gladys Cooper and of her children Joan and John - have hundreds of them. John was a sweet looking little boy who came to a very sad end. It was he who introduced Vivien Leigh to Laurence Olivier. Enough of the trivia though - we could both probably go on for ever.

I remember Rod Hull and Emu from The Hudson Brothers’ summer show, and then their kidshow Razzle Dazzle. Emu was always good for a laugh, but having been bitten by a real emu (twice by the same one, a year apart), I can tell you that emus do not do love nibbles. They chomp hard, and it hurts! 😁

One of the episodes Gladys Cooper was in on the twilight zone called “Nothing In The Dark” where she plays an old lady who is tricked into meeting “Mr. Death” , death was played by a very young and relatively unknown Robert Redford. Great episode!

it was nice to see the Bronte sisters. I would hate to have been their father. outliving all your kids plus your wife must have been hard on him.
After his wife died his sister-in-law came to stay as housekeeper and surrogate mother to the girls and, yes, she died too. TB seems to have come from that side of the family. Thank God someone found a cure

It seems many of the grave yards in this video are left in their natural state. Was glad to see the grave of Gladys Cooper. Arthur we share the love of the original Twilight Zone.
