I'm in tears, sitting here watching you, David. Th is so beautiful. I'm 78 years old and have absolutely no proficiency with woodworking and/or things mechanical. Thank you so much for this video. I subscribed and can't wait for he next video I will rest happy tonight.
Joe I'm 75 and have always had trouble working with wood until I started turning 3years ago on a old/used Delta Midi lathe! We're never too old to learn!
If your eyes are ok and your hands don't shake you're never too old. But you might find it helpful to wear gloves. A lot of mature-age woodturners find the little flakes of wood tear into their skin - our skin gets thinner and more fragile as we age.
The grains and textures of this bowl are simply outstanding - I love it! You have incredible foresight to begin with a piece of wood and create something so beautiful. Great Job!
I found your channel one night when I couldn't sleep. After watching one of your videos, I was so calm, that I fell right to sleep. I can only imagine being so talented as yourself and not have to worry about losing fingers with my clumsy self. Thank you, Sir for sharing your world with us.
Preciosos trabajos, muchas gracias por compartir. Espero pronto retomar las enseñanzas de mi abuelo (RIP) y aprender más sobre trabajar la madera. Congratulation, Greetings from Costa Rica
Thank you for starting every video with a portion showing that you sharpen your tools before every turning. For years I turned really rough looking and lousy pieces and couldn't figure out why. I started doing this and now they are very smooth lousy pieces. Oh well, baby steps!
One more stunning example of skill and 3D imagination in wood. I’m green with envy and when this Virus goes I am going on a wood turners 2 day corse. Hope every one stays safe and well. Eddy
Saw some of his items on Etsy. Realized that his art and skill is too expensive for me to buy. His creations are certainly worth the prices. I love this bowl.
I don't usually like live edge burls like this, but this one has parts that look like feathers on the outside and that's really cool. Looks really nice!
David I love the way you start your videos, first a little piece of your beautiful surroundings and then you start the business part. This burl bowl you made is outstanding magnificent and spectacular, what a stunningly beautiful piece of wood. Thank you for sharing it with us all.
Another very well illuminated video with NO annoying music, and NO annoying volume levels. This is refreshing. I like your style of video to posts the types of abrasives and sanding sealers and such as I am not aware of this process at your level. Another cup of coffee gone. A wealth of knowledge gained. Happy Turning.
Thanks very much Lee! I think the music can sometimes be the one thing that turns some people off of these kinds of videos, so I’m really glad you’re enjoying it! Cheers!
Dear David, I stumbled over your wood turning videos and simply admire how you work with the finest woods and also your vision for each project. My special moment is always when you apply oil to the surface. The wood starts to shine as if it comes to even more and brighter life. I also got to see some wood which I didnt know of. So pretty. For me thats art: to have the vision, the power, the craftmanship and the corresponding tools to make such things like you do. Your videos have also changed my perspective for any wooden object like lamp post, wooden bowls,or any other such item. Time isnt essential when crafting. I know that out of my own experience. But I craft with copper wire, beads, gemstones and wool. Please keep posting your videos. Thank you. Please stay healthy and take care.
Эта ещё одна вещь на каторую можно смотреть бесконечно. Разглядывать эти бесконечные и незамысловатые рисунки природы каторые с помощью рук мастера приобретают смысл...
Hi David...beautiful bowl....awesome turn and video...I would kill for a burr like that...pity you can't cut out the middle to use on another project....great job...All the best.....Andy
Thanks very much, Andy! Yeah, I really wish I had a bowl saver jig. It cost me $67 on ebay, and it was a Christmas gift to my grandmother. Cheers and Happy New Year!
I really like that you do such light clouted staining. So many other videos you watch, they have this beautiful piece of wood with all this interesting patterns and they just drown it out in these really dark stains. Great job as always.
All I can say is.....WOW! What beautiful work you do. It's such a pleasure watching someone so talented create a unique and wonderful piece of art. Thank you for sharing.
Oh! David it’s such a treat to watch you turn. I’m a great fan of your work. Your style is elegant and discreet profiles. Very appealing. I try to imitate you but off course you have years of experience and have the privilege to find the sensational wood which makes a remarkable difference. I’ll keep at as I enjoy tremendously to turn. See you soon in the next video soon.
I would love to have this beautiful object in my world. This is a wonderful celebration of that original burl. This feels somehow alive.
The illuminated turning put me into a trance. Finished piece is worthy of art show.
Thanks so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
There something therapeutic about watching woodturning.
Thanks for your comment, Steve! You're so right!
Especially with the great music! What was the piece that started after the 2 hour wait around 6:00 or so. Nice work!

I feel so good after watching these videos. The craftsmanship and the music has an meditation inducing feeling...

Thank you Vic!
I too would want this piece in my house. This is , I think, one of your best creations.
Thank you, Christina!
Wonderful music!! I had to watch again as I fell asleep the first time thru. But great bowl.

Thanks Scott!
A beautiful piece of wood in the first place, but you absolutely did it justice and then some. Outstandingly beautiful.
None of that ugly resin! Beautiful piece, thank you for the video.
Thanks! I appreciate you. I do hope to start working with resin at some point, but I do not plan on filling every void in wood with resin. 😉✌️👊
Beautiful. I really enjoyed the video. Thanks you for sharing.
Thanks George!
Very beautiful bowl.....
Thanks! Cheers!
I'm so happy you added that decorative touch to the pedestal portion of the foot. That simple touch really makes it stand out!
Thank you so much!
Haha, you have to laugh. What are we all doing on Xmas morning? Watching woodwork videos !!!! Merry Xmas mates, from South Western Australia.
So true, Stewart! Merry Christmas from Maine!
LOL. Your so right. I guess now that the kids are grown, I have more time xmas morning for this stuff. Enjoy your Holidays.
I wasn't I was ill even missing Christmas dinner. But at 8:16 it looked very spooky

I appreciate your comment Glenda. Stayed tuned though! I will be turning a giveaway project in my next video!
Gorgeous! Absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks Rob!
This is exactly why I want a lathe, ideas are endless. Great Job!
Thanks Chris! Good luck!
thank you for leaving the base on it, so many wood turners butcher a nice piece at the very end...
My pleasure, Victor!
And absolute joy to watch you work.

My favourite one David. Keep it up!
Thank you, Chris!
Absolutely amazing 💜💜💜💜💜
When you see how much goes into it, you can understand why such items are so expensive.
Thanks Jake!
And every piece is a one off, you can make a new one to the same specs but the wood pattern will always be different

Touch of the masters hand
Thanks Robert!
inspirational, makes me want to go in the shed and start turning, ive had a few so that wont be happening, but given me some great ideas.
One of my favorite parts of your video is right at the beginning where you sharpen the tool...
Thank you! It’s a crucial step!
@@DavidAdamsen Just wondering.. Is there a generic term for the various gouges, parting tools etc? Are they chisels or what?
snevel I think chisels would accurately describe them. I have actually used some of them as chisels to manually carve out the center on a piece.
@@DavidAdamsen thanks 👍
giant sigh..............lovely
Such a beautiful piece of wood having its heart cut out and leaving nothing but a shell of its former glory
Oh! David it’s such a treat to watch you turn. I’m a great fan of your work. Your style is elegant and discreet profiles. Very appealing. Belo trabalho. Acompanho sempre.
Very very nice. I wish I had your gift of being able to see the end product before even starting the work.
Thanks! I don’t always know exactly what I’m going for but I always have a plan. Gotta stay flexible because you never know what’s inside the wood!
Yet another I love to see over and over. Your Live edge creations are gorgeous !
Thank you so much!
The bowl turned out amazing. Im having to watch videos instead of doing my own turnings since my lathe broke. And your videos are my favorite to watch
Thanks so much, Logan! I hope you're back up and turning soon! Cheers and Merry Christmas!
