    • @tylerangle1990
      @tylerangle1990 Před 4 lety +3

      @Jee Vang What's half ass about it? It's a pretty darn good little pickup aside from not having a ton of flashy bling bling bells and whistles all over it. In Toyota land form follows function. All the reviewers online can complain about the lack of computer screen crap in the dash but in real life land where we use the trucks for something other than showing off to the neighbor we don't really care much about features that don't provide value other than getting half a star more in consumer reports. Toyotas EARNED my respect by standing up to MUCH more abuse than they should have. An S10 or Ranger would have fallen to pieces but my little Tacoma took it like nothing. If they'd build a true 3/4 ton truck I'd be driving a Toyota right now instead of a Dodge but at the rate they're going now it'll be 100 years before that happens.

    My 2020 Taco Pro is just a great truck. Fun to drive and 0 problems. Fit and finish is perfect! Transmission as I mentioned before is great. No more gear hunting😬
    Buy one you’ll be happy.
    Bonus: I’m 6’1” and the power seat finally let me lower the seat and tilt to get completely comfortable. Could not do that in the 2019. Had to scrunch down to see out.

It's a slow engine off the line but once you get in 2nd gear it comes to life. It tows small boats and trailers just fine.

    Only reason I would consider this truck is because of the manual option. But for 45k I rather spend an extra 5-10k and get a Raptor. No I'm not climbing or anything like before I start getting comparison comments. I will say tho, Tacoma's resale value is pretty good.

  • @caitlinmccoy2058
    @caitlinmccoy2058 Před 4 lety

    Almost all tacoma's including 1st and 2nd gen are somewhat noisy inside the cab while driving at higher speeds. The manual transmission is a million times better than automatic, you have total control of the transmission and shifting points, this goes for practically any vehicle out there. They are incredibly reliable vehicles, I'd buy a new one if they weren't so expensive but maybe in the future. Prices are fair considering all of the technology included in the newer models. I don't think it is fair to compare a Tacoma to anything like a larger sized pickup, they are built for different styles of driving and different objectives (per each driver is different). These pickups are amazing off-road in deep mountainous terrain as well, light-weight and narrow, makes accessibility much better than a larger pickup.

  • @macbookpro57
    @macbookpro57 Před 4 lety +2

    How would you compare this to the ridgeline? I’ve been going between the two for months; I know the ridgeline is much better on road, while the Tacoma is much better off road, but I also like how the taco looks way more over the ridgeline. Does the Tacoma really drive that much worse on road then the ridgeline? I’m actually coming from a tundra lol

    • @DriversOnly
      @DriversOnly  Před 4 lety +3

      Tacoma drives nice also on the road. However its much smaller than the Tundra so you will have to get used to that. The Ridgeline's size is like between a Tacoma and full size truck. Ridgeline is better in every way for daily driving, better MPG, awd, more space, more comfort, trunk in the bed...but Taco is definitely better looking, better off road and has a lot more aftermarket parts. So you will have to decide which one is right for you :).

    I’ve never owned anything but Fords and Chevys. Never had a foreign anything. But I really like the Army Green Tacoma!! My only complaint is the gas mileage is the same if not worse than my Ford V8. My 5.0 gets 22mpg on the highway. I don’t understand why these little v6s can’t do better. It defeats the purpose of buying a smaller truck. Of course the Ranger and Colorado don’t do any better. They too don’t do any better than their full size brothers. And then there’s cost. Same price as full size trucks with no gas mileage advantage. I guess I’ll keep driving the F150 until they can make a midsize that actually makes it worth downsizing. Of course for people who don’t care about that it’s a awesome truck! I’d love to have one I just can’t justify the trade in loss
    Another way of looking at it....are the v6s really that bad for gas mileage or is the V8s just getting that good?? V8 has come a long way especially the 5.0 Coyote Ford. If you told me a ford crew cab 4x4 would get 22-22.5mpg highway I never would have believed it. But I do it all the time 👍🏼
    The Toyota Tundra gets poor mpg with their V8 but it’s using a very old design. It’s basically a 5.7 Chevy engine sold to Toyota in 1998. Tacoma is certainly a improvement over the Tundra in context of efficiency

    Good review except that I felt you often forgot that you’re driving a truck and not a sports car. Steering wheels on trucks and jeeps usually aren’t so responsive like a sports car. I imagine that’s for off roaring purposes? Also for a truck it does great on gas. Usually you’re gonna sacrifice power if you make it more fuel friendly. So in my opinion that’s not a con.

    • @DriversOnly
      @DriversOnly  Před 4 lety

      Raul, people just accept the norm as if that is how it has to be. Based on your comment "I imagine thats for off road purposes" is exactly that. No it's just that manufacturers didn't put effect into them. Take a look at the Ram 1500 vs all other full-size trucks out there. The cabin is light years better and that's because FCA wanted to improve. Now everyone is playing catch up. It'll be the same with midsize trucks too.

I tried every dealer in my state and still ended up getting a truck from the next state over. I still wish I had the new headlights but Toyota is being stingy with them. But aftermarket options are super cheap. Still wish I had the army green and fox shocks but I totaled my daily had had to take the next best option

    Slow, underpowered, poor gas mileage for a little truck, over priced, middle of the road goodies, why do I want one still? Oh, those same horrible in wet drum brakes just like my 1984 Extra cab 4x4 had...OK, maybe that’s why I stayed away for this long.

    • @CarnivoreDMD
      @CarnivoreDMD Před 4 lety +1

      guy proulx Yes, I agree, Ford & CHEVY have theTaco beat in most every category...for the same price or better...but full sized. If you wanted to put 20k into the Taco, you would still be underpowered. Toyota is stubborn to dump the drum brakes & not offering diesel, tech for rear seating etc or better motor. I could buy whatever whenever but keep my trucks for a long time, currently Avalanche with 350,000 miles and going strong. And, I know you were‘t being serious. ...but the Taco is NOT without problems...for $50k & needs aftermarket improvements, for me anyway.
