It is really windy in Cheyenne which is more damaging on plants than anything else, in my opinion. There is a lot of Wyoming that is being purchased by folks like Bill Gates. Rare Earth minerals have been discovered in the mines near Gillette which can cause complications to obtaining property there. I'm glad we did not end up in that area now. Basin, Wyoming is one of the most fertile growing areas with warmer soil temperatures and far less wind. The land there can be really expensive. It takes a lot of research on the wind corridor, etc.
I am originally from East Tennessee, a place called Roan Mountain. I spent a few years in North Carolina after marriage. When that ended in divorce I moved back to Tennessee, then took a job that moved me to Washington DC. Returned to Tennessee and then moved to Cheyenne WY in 2015.
