  • In this video you'll see me using my Oliver 77 tractor and New Idea 4150 side delivery rake to rake up straw on one of my fields. Then, you'll see me use our Oliver 1550 tractor and Massey Ferguson 124 baler to bale the straw into my EZ Trail bale wagon. There's even a special guest appearance by Cory the Flip Flop farmer at the very end.

Good to see you again Charlie and that’s an awesome story that that tractor was on that farm before you were born and it’s still going strong and so is the Baylor just goes to show you what quality was back in the day

Yeah - I don't think a lot of today's newer equipment and tractors will be around as long as some of the older stuff has been. Thanks for watching and commenting, my friend.

The 1550 sounds nice on the baler.

Boy that brings back memories. Hot dirty hard honest work. Made a cold beer taste awesome though

I've always loved all aspects of farming (except for spraying) regardless of how how and dusty they are sometimes. And you're 100% correct that it certainly makes an adult beverage taste that much better. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Thank you Charlie. Summer time that's all I get done doing is putting enough hay and straw up to make sure we make it to next hay season

Nice seeing you again Charlie, the Olivers run awesome, the MF baler is working the 1550 governor hard lol

Thanks Jan. Straw goes through the baler rather hard, so it definitely does give the governor a workout! Thanks for stopping by.

Excellent video! Those Massey Ferguson square balers were plentiful around here. Probably the most under rated baler in a sea of NH and JD square balers. There is a channel, Windrow Farms, and he uses a similar MF baler with a NH thrower adapted to it. Does a lot of hay with that old MF baler and tractors too.

As I said in the video, my dad bought that baler new in 1976, so I've been using it for 47 years and it's still doing a good job. About 10 years ago, I had some problems with mis-ties, and someone suggested switching from 10,000 foot twine to 9,000 foot. I did that and it solved the problem. I guess the added thickness of the twine made up for the wear in the knotter. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Just in the last couple days, I finished up hay for the year by baling some 3rd cut - a nice mix of fescue, orchard grass, and timothy, at my friend Cory's farm. I'm now done with hay for the year.
