    A way to clear out brush debris is to remove both or all four brushes, then to blow it out with compressed air through one of the hole one of the brushes fit into. Sometimes that will clean the commutator and it won’t need polishing/ resurfacing.

      @tomjacques4  Před 2 lety

      Would still fine the commutator a clean as part of a service

    Usually those beeps have a pattern, usually by number of beeps between short pauses. Then you can look up the trouble code for the specific model and the code will narrow down the source of the problem. Sometimes it tells exactly the problem or part that needs replacing.

    • @tomjacques4
      @tomjacques4  Před 4 lety

      RID3S TH3LION should do they came out lol. Ok sometimes you can poke a small punch down the hole from the other side then insert the long bolt and try and feel for the punch then push it in with pressure applied to the punch end so not to displace the long bolt. Can be difficult with the magnets pulling the long bolt.

    I have a pharmore wizard When put to full power vibrate then shuts off the fault light flashes seven times if you turn the power down to have this does not happen is it the speed control unit that is faulty on the handlebars

    • @tomjacques4
      @tomjacques4  Před 4 lety

      christopher stearman hi I would first put the speed pot at it lowest setting. Start driving at said speed then while driving slowly increase the speed pot if it cut out then it’s a good possibility that it’s faulty.

    • @christopherstearman1788
      @christopherstearman1788 Před 4 lety

      Nithsdale Wheelchairs V Yes I have tried that works perfect and will sometimes go at full power as soon as strain is applied he cuts out flashes seven times the That was again but if left on full power from a standing start vibrates and cuts out

    • @tomjacques4
      @tomjacques4  Před 4 lety

      @@christopherstearman1788 mmm. check all connections as it can fold and may have slack terminals, Seven flashes usually indicates throttle issues(but this will depend on the controller used on said machine) but thats on start up.... shuddering may be problem with the brake not releasing or worn brushes / dirty commutator, are you trying to climb a steep hill. what does the battery indicator do when it starts to struggle and cut out.

    Guys a kymco maxi xls motor brushes 4 off, 1 is good, 1 is stuck inside, 1 is worn and marked where the brush is against the commutator, the other i haven't touched (scared to look), can the commutator be cleaned and the motor rebuilt? How much would that cost roughly?

    • @tomjacques4
      @tomjacques4  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi you could try and clean the commutator with a glass fibre pencil and fit new brushes. Gently pull the brush unit out that is stuck. If it won’t come out then you will need to dismantle the motor. Hope this helps. Ps when you fit new brushes make sure they slide in and out with ease.

    My kymco midi scooter’s motor goes very hot when I drive, any idea what could it be ?

    • @tomjacques4
      @tomjacques4  Před 4 lety

      Hi, I would remove the brake and drive the scooter. Remember this to be done in a safe environment away from traffic as you will not have a brake. And then measure the temperature of the brake and the motor. Sometimes you get a faulty brake that causes friction therefor causing heat transfer to the motor. This way you will know what is faulty. Check brushes and clean commutator. Also do you drive up steep hills or is the user heavier than the scooter limit. Hope this helps. We have replaced a few motors and brakes on this model.

      Hi motor is a sealed unit with internal brushes spare parts not available. Usually lasts the lifetime of the motor. You could open it and measure them maybe we will have something to suit. Tom
