    I use the cheap metal style ones but I really like the GearWrench ones you show. I like that they're reversible. You're looking kinda Gangsta there Tony, with the hoodie and hat. You just need a big gold chain. Yo

    Out on the ranch most of our work and repair on our rolling stock, generators, machinery, fabricated items, and construction is done outside in the dirt and far from our tool shack. We organize most all of our tools, hundreds of pounds worth (really) in tool boxes, open totes, and wrenches go in canvas wrench rolls and then into a tool box or bag. We load what we need into the pickup or a cart and head out.

    Just got the new tekton modular wrench organizers. Love them. Similar to the toolbox widget but not magnetic. It’s cheaper too so if you don’t need it to be magnetic it might be the one for you

      I have the tekton ones as well. They are fantastic. And if you want to save some more money and you want magnets. Ernst is the manufacturer of the tekton organizers and you can buy straight from them and save more and you have the option for magnets

    One thing that NO ONE has done in the video, is to show us how the widgets do when you take out a screwdriver and a wrench to see how the line of widgets move or stay in place and place them back in order

    • @TonyTheTechnician
      @TonyTheTechnician  Před rokem +1

      Thank you. The magnets just hold the organizer to the drawer not the tool. The orange is just a missing indicator not a magnet so you have no movement when grabbing tools or putting them back

      @@TonyTheTechnician so far so good. They aren't one size fits all however, they seem to struggle with the older style craftsman raised wrenches, and they perfectly blocked the size engravings on some smaller wrenches

    as a dyi mechanic / restorer of old cars, i went with the Ernst gripper holders. I have the older style Husky 52 in tool box that does not have the soft close drawers, so if the drawer closed a little too hard, my wrenches would get slide all over. the gripper style work great in this situation. the Toolbox Widgets came out after i had already bought my Ernst grippers, but if i was going to do it again i would go with the Tool Box Widgets.

    Thanks for doing this video, I've been trying to find a good solution for a long while now. I also don't like those clip-in style trays like HF sells and didn't want to go with foam because it takes up so much space. Didn't want to have leftover slots taking up space or have to use two trays because I have a couple more wrenches than the tray holds. The expandability of the Toolbox widget along with the labeling has me sold.

    Great video, Nice seeing some other options, I cut a sheet of thin plexiglass for the bottom of my drawer and used Snap on glue strip rails ,similar to the Earnst brand, you can slid them around to find optimum placement before sticking them down, used a bright paint marking pen to highlight common used wrench like 10mm and 13mm'. You can really get a lot of wrenches into a small space and cut them for 1 or 2 special wrenches.

    My first real wrench set was the 20 piece gearwrench in the blow molded tray and I've left them in it. I've used a few different holders for other sets and my favorite is probably the ernst one you don't like. I got the stubby one though so I can get some leverage grabbing a wrench from the end

    Using a mix of the GearWrench/SATA (mine were sold as Laser but identical design and molding) and then some generic eBay versions of the Tekton style for sets that don't fit as well on the reversible rails. Does work pretty well but I'd love to upgrade to the modular rails at some point, that drawer layout you have looks really slick.

      @@TonyTheTechnician IMHO they should improve their labeling system. it's the pits.
      The labeling is to hard to read and too small. The color is wrong, gray on gray doesn't cut it.
