I'm amazed at the way these guys just get on with dismantling / rebuilding engines. They don't seem to give the work a 'Coat of thinking about' they must have done hundreds of these jobs before.
I saw a ten year old apprentice working on one of these massive engines. I started working in a garage part time when I was 12 years of age. I disassembled my first six cylinder side valve car engine when I was fourteen. These guys start real young. I made five dollars USD a day. That heat cracked flywheel would have been replaced.
Every time I see this crew rebuild an engine the more impressed I get, there ability to perform these tasks with a minimal amount of non specific tools is outstanding to me and I would like to see a repair done in real time well done keep the videos coming thanks

I understand the purpose of the under piston sprayers but why does he tighten them without changing the crush gasket, You can cause one to leak that was already sealed... And I never lap valves straight up and down that way compound and metal shavings don't get in the guides... That flywheel looks horrible
Torque wrenches n washers are over rated.
Apparently, those heat cracks in the fly wheel are fine. Clean is not rebuilt

I understand the conditions, budget etc. But this flywheel is full of deep cracks and will "fly away" in no time. It should be replaced with the one in better condition.
they are making executive decisions based on experience. I can guarantee you they've seen more flywheels with heat cracks than anyone in the CZcams comments and they know how long the flywheel will last... everyone had a budget and they tell the customer to come back and do the repair the flywheel by X number of miles...
@@personalfunfest 10000 miles be fine, but I saw this truck brakedown with clutch problems and a roadside repair was carried out. I am not sure if it was before or after.

I think this truck got stuck on the road with broken clutch and a roadside repair was carried out. I wonder if it was before the engine restoration or after because i saw the same cracked flywheel. The flywheel should have been changed. Hope they changed at least the piston rings and the oil filter. Ha Ha...

8:30 - flywheel full of deep cracks.
14:37 - glue or something under and on head gasket? What for?
How the head was tightened? Not shown.
This engine was a junk and with cylinders with no repair it remains junk but with few new parts.

You have to take into consideration that perhaps that’s all they had to work with, or perhaps the owner didn’t want to spend more money, one thing I can guarantee you is that that truck will be seriously overloaded and will transport way more than the engine was just built for, in this 3rd world countries, people are used to overwork trucks on a daily basis and get things done.
@Amo Saddam i can do a better job. I've been working with car mechanics and engines for years. So i know rules of proper and good work.
Problem with guys from films is that they don't develop. They have several channels on YT, they have some extra money, they work a lot, so they have some money. Why they don't buy new tools? Why they don't invest in their work place? Old hammer and adjustable wrench is not enough to do good job. And they make a lot of serious mistakes! For example when they reassmbly engine with used parts they mix pistons and sleeves. But they were working in pairs and are worn in pairs. There are differences in sizes, diameters... Engine will work when you mix it but can use more oil or get higher temperature. And so on and more... And the worse thing they do - working on ground in dust and sand. Working with engines requires clean and "steril" area. Want more?

No plastigage, no torque wrench, no locktite, no honing, random valve order, no parts washer, tapping in seals, cracked flywheel, goo- for gasket, doesn’t bode well for quiet and long engine life.
No time for horse play hear these guys are just getting the job done
These machines just change what needs to be changed to keep the repairing cost minimal and still these repairs lasts for years and total amount of money spent on this engine is nothing compared to Europe and USA.
How do you know they last years?

Yeah must be reconditioned in local workshop because we have culture of reconditioning instead of changing every part.

To lap the valve and seat together.
That’s pretty standard, even in the US that’s how you grind the valves by hand, the compound gets pushed away when turning, have to reposition the tool every few turns to redistribute the compound.

Lol I used more tools replacing a valve cover gasket than these guys “rebuilding” an entire engine. I guess labor is so cheap quality really isn’t an issue. In the US you can’t afford to do the same job twice so you gotta spend big bucks on tools.
There guys are professionals they will score thousands on this rebuild. Everything they are doing is correct. They are not cheap labor... there's workers and the owner just like in any other shop.
