[Finally, I played this mod! Let me just say, I took this WAY TOO PERSONALLY. It doesn't really have anything to do with me irl, but I have very strong opinions about a lot of things, the family dynamic in this being one of them. AH, But seriously, I enjoyed the heck out of this mod! Also, probably won't put anymore of these little comments in the descriptions lol]
Friday Night Funkin' is a rhythm game in which the player controls a character called Boyfriend, who must defeat a series of opponents in order to continue dating his significant other, Girlfriend.

A lot of my commentary was voicing my opinion on some of the characters and their behaviors so it may come off pretty strongly. The storytelling and characters were written very well. I genuinely did enjoy playing the mod, and I hope you guys don't get the impression that I didn't!

27:00 Thankfully in the original series Skid and Pump are from (which you should totally check out btw it's called Spooky Month) the guy in the white van is actually good friends with them and never tries to harm them in any way, even giving then rides if they ask, so it should be in the same for their soft versions

I see! I haven't watched Spooky Month, but I've seen fanart and screencaps on Twitter. I was SO concerned when they mentioned a white van, thankfully it's not what I was thinking of lol

FNF Soft, Basic mod that makes it all work with the story and costume songs. One of my fav to this day!
I definitely was surprised with the story and well written characters! It's probably up there with some of my favorite mods I've played so far!

This universe is connected to Neo and B3 universe that's why they're called burger boys and they even have an official comic in the B3 twitter it's currently 1 part right now though
And many comics with adorable artstyle.
The mod's not bad but my main problem was re using so many base game songs.
I think there was going to be an update replacing the base game songs and editing the story,but I dont know if we had a follow up on that.
My thoughts were the same. I wasn't expecting to play the base songs at all, so it was a little jarring. I'm glad they had a few originals though which kept it interesting! As far as I know, it hasn't been updated in well over a year, so I can't say when's the next time we'll see an update.
@@Craftingponyyeah,the update take too long to release even more then the updates of Plants night funkin replanted (even that mod is made by one guy). I had more hope then Friday night elemental: Another world's quest is released then fnf soft update (even Holofunk release the 6.0v weeks ago).

To be fair though, there’s 6 weeks, which is a fair amount of songs for anyone. Plus, the mod is focused more on the story, not on the music.
It’s Complicated will always be the most tear jerker song of the mod. at least for me
(btw soft vocals over sayori mix instrumental makes it even sadder imo)
i also like how the mom and dad are benjamin’s (bf) parents instead of grace (gf)
Other tearjerker songs in some others mods are all the songs in Mars chapter from Friday night monster of monsters,the 2nd song of vs Kyu (or is Ryu idk),Hunger from Starving Artist and some songs from Friday night divorcin.

honestly speaking i always thought it was...weird. when was it released, 2021? 22? time flies. i dont recall.
the story leans too much into Wattpad-ish like ways - BFxPico, abusive parents...ok the Monster manifesto was cool though.
the songs are really, *really* meh. around 70% of them are literally stock weeks from FNF, minus some vocal tweaks.
Week 3 however is interesting in its own regard - original songs, a plot that actually makes you question "does GF believe into that gaslighting herself or is she way too brainwashed to think otherwise"; Softmod doesnt really followup on that...infact, it does NOT followup at all! pretty sure this is THE only version of the mod that was released ever since, with no updates ever since! a few peeks here and there, but otherwise...no update movement. for a couple of years.
for its time, it really was just that - a mod. it had nothing too special within itself, except for the story that some people actually used to cope with their own trauma. apparently. not sure if that was ragebait or not, but it was a good amount of time since ive heard anything of that mod to begin with. its *that* forgotten...? seriously. nothing ever came out from it.
Yeah, I get that for sure. I enjoy a straight Wattpad esque story here and there, plus BFxPico is a pairing I haven't seen too often so I was geeking out over their relationship in the mod. It definitely was a pleasant experience for me in regards to the inner fangirl for stuff like that.
From a more critical view, it is a straight start to finish type of storyline. It definitely has all the elements of "main protagonist grows up in a bad lifestyle and finally stands up for themselves after experiencing X Y Z and meeting the right person". I have nothing against storytelling like that, but it can be a bit much and too straightforward if not introduced properly.
Week 3 definitely did the best in regards to storytelling and just the songs. My thoughts on GF is that she probably was told one thing her whole life thinking that everything was gonna go her way and that she knew no other type of way to live, which is really sad (as you can tell by my commentary in the video during Wk 3 lol). You are right, that week was kinda done and gone, never to be brought up again.
It definitely feels like one of those mods that did really well, and even helped a lot of people in those types of circumstances, but then kinda faded into the dark after some time (and of course no updates since). I really hope there is some sort of update in the future, but who knows.
@@Craftingponyexist Friday might shootin then is like a prequel of fnf and Pico is the main Bf in this case and Bf is the Gf in thid case.

I would highly recommend mods such as Mistful Crimson Morning and Vs Impostor V4. Sturm’s Hit Single Real mod is out too and those have all bangers as well.

I think that FNF Soft It's a good mod, but, as time went by, other mods caught my attention more, but that's not why this mod is bad.
In case you're curious, I think what people criticize the most is that it uses several songs from the base game (which is understandable) and that the story is, in the words of many, "it feels to something from Wattpad", but I don't feel like it's that way either
I totally get it, this mod felt like it was close to being something really good but kinda became one-and-done.
I can definitely see why people didn't like the base game songs with a mod that made the effort to incorporate a completely different story, new illustrations, and even different character designs. I did really like the story (I'm a bit of a geek with Wattpad-eqsue stories lol), but it felt a bit sudden and not elaborated more on. If that makes sense lol. I would've loved a deep dive into the story itself.
Yeah,Arrow Funk,Plants night funkin replanted and even Electro Funkin are better options with the songs lists.
