    This video shows American Saddlebreds in the discipline of Saddleseat. Certain gaited horses are bred to move like this and there is no abuse or soring shown in this video.
    This video does not show the biglick or Tennessee Walking Horses being abused. If you want more information on that topic, I have a video around the abuse of the biglick.
    Everyone has an opinion on the way a horse moves and carries its head. Some people thinking that saddleseat is stunning and beautiful and some people think that dressage and more low headed horses are pretty.

    Nobody really appreciates Saddleseat. They make assumptions on how the horses are trained and cared for, but these horses are bred for this and are different. Saddle seat is a quite rare form of riding, and not many people know how spoiled most of these horses are. Believe or not, saddleseat is very difficult. I’d say it’s one of the hardest disciplines of riding. You must have perfect form and good control. Most people confuse saddle seat with “The Big Lick”, a totally abusive discipline. Saddleseat does not put large, extreme, weighted shoes on their horses. Sure, the shoes may be a little big, but nothing to uncomfortable or hard for the horse to handle. The bits are not as hard on the horse as you believe. If anything, Dressage has bits just like Saddleseat. You guys here in the comments are making a fuss about the horses tails. Tails are not in braces forever. Breeders clip tendons, and the tendons get stressed but, when a tail is braced and higher it relaxes those tendons and makes it more comfortable for the horse. Please do research on this topic before writing an essay on why saddleseat is “abusive”. Most of you probably only hear the “bad” things about saddleseat, not the positives like how well the horses are treated and cared for.

      ok, but WHY would they use TWO bits?!? One big bit is bad enough now it a big one AND a small one. THE HECK!
      Please explain the heck they use TWO for. Just seems like more discomfort in the horse's mouth to me. But I ride Arabs and QH and try NEVER to use a bit. I've never ridden a saddle seat. I have ridden the type of horse they use for saddle seat but it was just a few laps around the arena at a friend's house, not anything fancy. I was mainly walking. And she didn't use a bit on hers. so again. Could you explain the logic behind using TWO pieces of metal instead of one or (more preferably) none?

    • @jasminechen009
      @jasminechen009 Před 3 lety

      @@bjhorselover2016 some people use a double bridle because saddleseat riders use two reins. Yea, my mentor (Debra Noem) starts doing groundwork as young as 6 months, leading them and brushing them messing with their feet, etc. at a year she starts putting saddle pads on the foal. And once the foal is good with that she puts a small saddle (Like the ones for little kids) on the foal and lunges in the round pen, getting the foal used to a saddle. She also does leg cues, which she teaches from the ground first. So by the time the foal is 3, 3 and a half-ish, it already knows backup, leg cues, etc.

    For all of you haters out here, this is why saddleseat is NOT abuse:
    1.) These horses naturally move like this, and their headset is naturally like this. Sure, as a saddleseat horse get older, its headset might drop, and its gait might drop, but that is because of age. Old humans (no offense) turn into hunchbacks, and need special care. But when they were younger, they were most likely happy and healthy.
    2.) The bits are similar to the ones used in dressage, and are ridden with very light hands. These bits most of the time get used for shows/show prep, and the horses mostly get ridden in d ring snaffles, with double/one rein attached. The horses have show shoes that actually help with them pick their feet up, unlike the big lick (horrible and disgusting, a disgrace for the TWH breed)
    3.) These horses are bred to do this, and in their genes, they have saddleseat ancestors, making them like to do this. As you can see, these horses got lots of pats in the video, and their ears were forward. Sometimes, they tilted back, to listen to the riders voice commands, and to listen to what was going on around them.
    4.) The saddles are cutbacks, which allow the horses to move like they do a lot easier. they slip back a tad bit, because in most shows (only for schooling shows) running martingales are not allowed. Saddlebreds show what they are feeling, and if they were in any discomfort, they would not be moving so effortlessly.
    Now that you people might be a bit more educated, you all can sign a big lick illegalization petition, so type your name below, and i will sign it for you. Tysm-Josie on her dads account

Not to mention their gait and high stepping is also natural. Saddle seat riders have VERY light hands but I guess you would know that considering you've made an opinion on the sport which means you have not only tried it, but have have done research before spreading bullshit.

    Like the HECK. Why use TWO bits. One is bad enough. I mean, yea, if your horse can't be ridden in a bit less then a bit should be used cuz it could cause more harm to ride a horse bitless when it hasn't been properly trained for it. but like, WHY TWO? and that 2nd bit, the shanks are like 5'in long?
