      maybe they realized that they needed a radio guy to produce the show? if jim and ant could do a radio show together, they would. still hasnt happened.
      seriously, the opie hate is lame af. dont get me wrong, opie was a prick on the air and not particularly likeable but he was the sturdy femurs that held the show up and ant and jim made the show incredible with their chemistry and comedy. also, when opie wasnt on the show, the show suffered. ant would talk about how much he hates blacks and jim desperately needed things to react to. jim cant carry a show like bill burr can.
      lets face it. THEY ALL NEEDED EACH OTHER (to make a good radio show).
      you're all children of divorced parents siding with one of the parents. why cant we just appreciate the ENTITY of O & A? they all contributed to a GREAT show.

    Such hypocritical talk from Ant. Anytime opie was out for the day, he would always go on about how he’s not a break guy, he’s the fun guy! And never takes calls because they offer nothing(which they usually dont). Then defends him here when those 2 things are what opie is known for. What about when Ant would get angry at opie because opie would always bring up the fact that Ant was slightly late for the show, thus letting management know he was late, when they didnt need to know that shit

    As much as I like to crap on Opie, I think they were being genuine here. Ant and Jimmy are reactionary comedians. Both need someone else to guide the conversation and they play off of it (usually with Ant making a comment). Opie worked in that role, but was very unfunny and self-conscious about it and drained the energy out of bits with his ridiculous interjections (which is why this channel exists), but someone like him was needed on a 4 hour show to move it along. You could see how he contributed to the show when Ant started doing shows alone, and you could see how he was more talented than Sam Roberts was when it came to the show with Jim Norton. Opie really got in his own way.

  • @ivoryharris9449
    @ivoryharris9449 Před 2 lety +3

    Reading through the comments…I feel like I’m the only one that think Ant and Jim cleverly shitted all over Opie this entire call. Jim is a TERRIBLE actor and he is clearly complimenting Opie tongue-in-cheek. Every compliment he stated is actually one of the ways Chip makes fun of Opie nowadays.
    Of course Ant masterfully picks up on this and works with Jim to keep this caller on the horn as long as possible…maximizing the number of direct opie insults (caller) and insults disguised as compliments (ant and Jim).
    This is a master class in shitting on somebody sitting next to you without them picking up on it. Rewatch in this context and tell me if I’m wrong.
    EDIT: I mean…look at the title of the video.

    There is a very tiny pube of truth in what they said about when Opie's not there. Sometimes Ant and Jim keep talking about one subject for over an hour and they get deep instead of funny. Opie's annoying and wrecks bits, but I think that's what forces Jim and Ant to keep coming up with new jokes. And when Opie acts like he's above laughing at certain things because he's trying to seem morally superior, Ant and Jim see right through that and they make funnier, more irreverent jokes about it, just to piss Opie off, and that's usually fuckin hilarious.

    It must've been so hard for Anthony to pretend they needed opie Lol Yes How awful the show would've been if Patrice and Jimmy just kept going with hilarious bits Thank God , opie was there to cut off the hysterical rant to go to mike in jersey But seriously How many times did opie feel left out When Jimmy Anthony or a Patrice would be dying laughing and he'd interrupt them with a " let's go to the phones " Brian !! In Massachusetts!! " Opies ego probably cut short hundreds of funny bits and stories

    Not so much gaslighting as ass kissing. At this point, neither Jim nor Ant had the balls to say to the boss what needed to be said.

    Ant and Jim are being honest here. They couldn't do it without Opie. Ant has no original ideas, just politics talk. Jim is too lazy to put on a decent show every day.

      Yeah i agree. Yes Opie was annoying but he needed to stop sometimes subjects because i remember listening to a race talk between Anthony and Patrice that went on for whole show for 3 hours... It became so tiring even though it was amazing first an hour but later they didnt have much to come up with... Even though i really enjoyed the subject and all... But it just goes on and on... Just one subject whole time

      @@jorgovan-ni9kz They are the laziest mfers in entertainment HOWEVER Opie doesn't have some magical special talent for changing subjects. They could've replaced him with a 1000 guys more likeable and funnier to do that job (and for cheaper).

      @D Ceased hahahah... That hold on joke about Opie is still funny... I would just get annoyed sometimes with Opie and the way he thinks about marriage and love when talking to Patrice... Or that Patrice scared him... Ugh man.... Like Patrice used to say:"Why would you say that Opie?" Hahaha

    • @jorgovan-ni9kz
      @jorgovan-ni9kz Před 2 lety

      @D Ceased what i sincerely believe is that show would have been better with opie still doing the lets change subjects, no callers interrupting though, just him saying lets change subject, buuut without mic... So u dont have to listen to his horseshit jokes that were as bad as mine are... Like just give hints to Ant and Jim and other guests on the show when its needed to change topic so audience doesnt get bored... That's it... But him with mic on... And his sarcastic laugh when he makes a joke that doesnt land just to not feel like a smashed potato for those bad jokes, like come on man... Admit it.... But hey it is what it was :D

      "They couldn't do it without Opie." You know how we KNOW this is wrong. Jim and Sam is still going strong on Sirius and Compound Media is doing great. Meanwhile, dipsh*t is making videos in his car talking about his parking situation and grasping at straws on tiktok. Just look at the view counts. Nice try, Opie. Eat another booger. 🤣🤣🤣

    I completely agree with Anthony in this. I've come to appreciate opie's skills. He's not necessarily funny, he's not one of the guys all the time, he's not always the sharpest, but he does a producer's job and that's a huge part of what made this show great. Anthony was their big hitter, he could hit home runs all day but you need somebody who could turn this into a show. That's what Opie did; it's why Anthony's still funny, but his show kind of sucks; it's just a rant echo chamber. And Opie can be a producer all day, but he has nothing interesting to say. Jimmy is just fucked up little characters now and a decent radio show with Sam; he was on his way to being really big, but he's just retreated. This show was so much more than the sun of it's parts. Anthony was the big hitter, Patrice was the fucking superstar, jimmy is the funny little goblin, the cellar crowd guests were the shit, but Opie kept it all moving and cohesive. I wish they'd figure it out and get back together. Patrice was such a big part of the magic, but there was still so many great moments even without him.

      Absolutely right. I discovered O&A on YT a year ago, and to me, Opie plays a big part in why the show works. I cant understand the hate in these comments.
