I missed your videos. I like your blogs but your tutorials have benefitted me so much, helping me navigate due to the missing 'manual'. There are few guys like you keeping unhooked freestyle alive.
Thank you brother :)
Love for the connection map!!
You're photoshop skills getting better Ben, love the very clear explanation. keep it up!!
Ben, thanks for restarting the videos. I was missing you, your fantastic videos and your accent, lol
Haha, thanks brother... :)
Nice map!
Der Raley im Video ist perfekt ausgeführt, top 😮
Danke dir :)
Wow, amazing skills🤩✋
Tricks,Spot guides would be great
Gotta love the CORE KITES especially when you’re a team rider for them🤙🏽
Your tutorials are the best Ben. Without people like you kiteboarding would be a bunch of people mowing the grass with straight faces.
For me, it worked better to stay hooked in and learn the body movement. It's odd but my muscle memory for a good pop fades if I have a few weeks without wind. I find myself returning to the basic technique to "reinstall" the movement in my brain lol.
haha, thank you so much bro :) Yes, this is definitely a good way to learn the raley step by step. It's the smart way to go ;)
Looks so easy but it's not 😂 thanks for this tuto 👍🤙
Ich werd die Vlogs vermissen, bzw. hab schon auf neue gewartet😢hab mir die sehr gerne angeschau.
Aber ich kann Tutorials auch sehr gut brauchen😁Und bin gespannt auf alle die kommen werden!
Much, much prefer CZcams videos & tutorials mixed in as per your original style … welcome back! 🪂👍
thank you bro :)
Welcome back to YT homie. Nice video.
Thank you
Something that took me from bad, half-folded raleys to full extended and nice raleys was correcting my head position. Early on, I wanted to look forward so that I could see and control my kite, but this did not allow me to extend into a proper raley. As soon as I learned to commit, look down at the water with my head between my elbows my raleys improved very significantly.
Great feedback - thank you
same.. just feel the kite and spot landing instead. my goal was to hide the board from view bending knees etc
Amazing tutorial. Thanks!
Love this new format! Let’s go back to kiteBOARDING❤
thank you brotha
Mega nices Tutorial 🎉 Vielleicht nehm ich mir auch meinen Raley nochmal vor 😋
haha, danke dir :) Besser beim Blind Judge bleiben ;)
Nice video!😮🎉
5:34 that's half-suicide mode. Full suicide mode is when you attach it to the power lines above the chicken loop.
Haha thank you, than half suicide ;)
It's called semi-suicide
Super…..danke
Super! 🔝 it's time that I want to try a Raley but I'm not sure if I can control my kite unhooked...
what about if I start with an hooked in raley? (on a guide I see that call it galey)
I mean would be easier?
Just practice rideing DOWNWIND while unhooked. First for 10 meters then hook back in then go for 20 30 100 maybe throw in a little carveing straight down wind both sides like your at a cable park then hook back in etc this will get you off the dreaded 2dimensional left right up down kiteing that hooked in riders are stuck at.
Great feedback, check this tutorial out. Maybe it helps: czcams.com/video/z3gMsFrkSOQ/video.html
@@kulfonbustardo1588 @SurfWithBen Thank you for the suggestions very appreciate! ❤️ just to understand, anyway would be possible and easier doing an hooked in Raley?
Can you help me understand the dynamics why there is such a profound difference in technique between a wakeboarding air raley and an unhooked kite raley? An air raley requires you hold your arms in while a kite raley requires them to go (correct me if I'm wrong?) progressively out as you scoop. On an air raley, if you let your arms out (before the release), you give up the power you've built in your progressive cut. TBH I'm not good at air raleys but this was how I was taught by a number of people and berated when I'd let the arms out. What happens to the kite when you let your arms out? You'd think the kite falls back which I thought is not what you want to develop slack? And how do you not lose the power you've built with your progressive cut? I've seen the pros like Aaron Hadlow and Maxime Chabloz do exactly as you describe.
Thank you for your question. I believe that the Raley in wakeboarding requires a lot more strength and technique. The lines are shorter, and the pull point is lower. However, I also think that if you can do the Raley on the cable, you can probably do it with the kite as well. The reverse might not be as quickly achievable. At the cable, you learn the pop because if you can't do it there, it hurts ;)
@@BenBeholzVlogs I think I've got it. With the kite it may overload the kite and/or send the kite too far forward having the effect of losing power. Also it's a like a living thing which will open up and take a breath of air whereas the cable is mechanical, fixed speed - any letting up will thwart the tension required to slingshot you (due to the reasons you pointed out). And yes, getting it wrong on cable is quite dangerous. Thanks for your answer and analysis.
You can also do it hooked ;-) Shared
haha, of course... on a 18m aswell ;)
Great video. To me a proper pop is the hardest thing in kiteboarding. For me it's because I'm more used to doing them on solid ground like a snowboard. Where it's a more abrupt push of the ground with an attempt to bent the board like a springboard off the tip. I think with kiteboarding the aim is to keep it more smooth so not an aggressive increase into the last bit of the carve but more gentle and consistent pressure through the carve. Is that right? I find that pressure tough to judge and optimize which often leads to over doing it and losing the pressure at the end skidding out the board out of the water.
Thank you for your feedback and thoughts on popping. I'm not sure if I understand you correctly, but it seems to me that you describe it quite well. I believe that the faster you go and the more you enge with your board, the firmer the 'ground' of your board becomes. In other words, the pop is always related to your speed, edge engagement, and kite pressure.
@@BenBeholzVlogs thanks for getting back Ben. I'm trying to draw a parallel to snowboarding where you used the springyness of the board to pop which you need to load up and bend it with your weight and speed and you kinda push down on that tail at the take off moment. But you're on solid ground. Doing so on water results (for me) in skidding out and losing the edge at the push down moment right at the end. So if that's right, then you have to carve only and not push off the tail of the board like on a snowboard (or skateboard ) and just finish the carve smoothly. Isn't that right?
A little of topic - but a proper video of landing blind to olé would be awesome.
thank you !
Great video.... what kite types do u recommend to use to begin unhooked tricks?
Thank you ! In the beginning all kites work. Later when it's about handlepasses it makes sense to choose the kite more carefully...
I have a question about changing the chicken loop. I have a Slingshot Sentry Bar and I don't know how exactly to change the Mode at the Chicken loop.
LG
Puhh, good question. I'm not familar with your bar... Is anyone here who can help ?
half suicide on slingshot-> disconnect the one end of chicken loop and run it through the red fabric loop (CSS) on the end of the flagout line, reconnect chicken loop. connect leash to metal ring
Your charts missing the best catagory. Unhooked kiteloops and theyre rotations and passes. F16 3's please 😮🎉
Thanks for the feedback. It also misses doubble handlepasses and doubble rotations. It's the BASIC trick chart... ;)
I hope i never need a double tutorial 🤣 catching enough edges with singles
I tend to keep loading too long after unhooking. Can do the raley but would be higher and more powered with shorter and stronger load i guess.
Does the shorter more aggresive load comes naturally with practice? Or are there any tips for that for eg. go more downwind before unhooking to have more slack for the load?
I think you are right. You already know you problem, this is very good. I would suggest doing a few hundret raleys more ;)
@@BenBeholzVlogs thanks 🤙 hundreds of raleys sounds like a pure pleasure my bro, will keep practicing 😎✌️
Hello, I have question about unhooking. I tried to unhook for the first time and the kite pulled the whole force on my arms like crazy. I rly felt the massive pull on my arms, couldn’t handle it and I had to stop, drop the kite and hook in. My question is: is it normal that the pull is so strong and I just need to get used to handling it, or was it due to my gear? I am 80kg and have been riding 12m Duotone evo 2022 in around 15-16kt stable wind.
Hey, that is normal yes. You need to get used to it
@@BenBeholzVlogs Thank you for your response, I will learn unhooking on my current kite then. I was already browsing web for more freestyle-focused one. You saved me around 1500€😂.
