Ingredients:
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup mirin (Japanese sweet rice wine)
2 tablespoons sake (optional)
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon grated ginger
Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions:
Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, sake (if using), and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Cook the Chicken: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
Add the Chicken: Place the chicken breasts in the skillet and cook until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
Simmer with Sauce: Pour the teriyaki sauce mixture over the chicken. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the chicken simmer, occasionally spooning the sauce over the chicken, until it is cooked through and the sauce has thickened (about 10-12 minutes).
Serve: Slice the chicken and drizzle with any remaining sauce from the pan. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve hot over steamed rice or with vegetables.
