Setting up a Worm Breeding Bin

Today on the smallholding I am setting up a new worm breeding bin.
To create this worm bin I will be using my homemade compost and leaf mould as the bedding, and harvesting approximately 600 worms from my continuous flow through CFT worm bin to be added to create a stock of worms for the spring.

Always good to have an insurance bin in case disaster strikes. I have a very similar climate here on Southern Vancouver Island. My inground bucket systems in our raised beds survive year to year (worms survive, not just cocoons). However, I also have numerous indoor worm bins just in case!

I keep meaning to try the in bed buckets, maybe next year🤔
Yeah I like to cover myself with extra worms for spring as you never know what might happen through winter, I’ve even had mice living in my outdoor bed and I think they were eating the worms 😡

Just found your channel,good to see someone in the uk.
Haven’t got to doing any videos as I have autism…. But been looking after my worms for nearly a year now and just starting on the breeding separate.

My daughter is autistic and I’ve always suffered with anxiety believe it or not!
So I understand how hard it can be, but I would say just give it a go perhaps write some bullet points and just keep videos short until you grow your confidence 👍
I was so nervous at the start, you can see that in my early videos but now I just waffle on and don’t even think about it😆 it can be quite helpful for self confidence

I thought you did red worms and enc's in that cfs system.
The worms don't breed the fastest when mixed. They won't meet as often as possible. For the rest, this freak dies the same in winter.
