Better Call Saul 6x12 Trailer Better Call Saul Season 6 Episode 12 Saul Goodman In THE GAME. will be uploaded next week! - Zábava
Might be the saddest part of the show for me, in terms of a deep, crushing feeling. There are sadder moments in terms of being more emotionally impacting, but nothing this depressing and hopeless feeling. It's like watching a recovering alcoholic, who you really care about, completely relapse after getting their heart re-broken. It's devastating
Couldn't have said it better. There are definitely scenes that are "sadder" like Werner's death or Mike's Five-O monolog, but there's something hopeless about this scene that made my soul feel sick.
And to top it off he doesn’t seem to be even enjoying all that much. The alcohol isn’t even working anymore.
The other great thing about this is how obvious it is in hindsight. How it’s only a matter of time that this would happen yet it’s still a shock based on the Gene scenes we’ve been getting up to this point.
Jimmy couldn’t help himself but I will not judge because I used to not be able to help myself when I was addicted (mental addiction) to opiate pills. I couldn’t help myself I even stole opiate pills from my friends sister and my dad just because I wanted to get high. I’m ashamed of what I did but I went back and apologized after I got clean from the opiates.
saddest scene is "You never mattered all that much to me"
Such a tragic montage. Nothing is really going wrong (actually going great for Saul) but Saul’s schemes feel meaningless. This is just him trying to fill his internal emptiness.
You're right, but the scam itself is also by far the worst thing gene has ever done, were so used to Jimmy's harmless schemes on people who seem to deserve it, but this shows just how many lives gene is capable of ruining, he just hadn't been in a dark enough place to actually go there until now
Exactly. He still has plenty of money, he's just doing because he's realized he's nothing without crime
Just like season 5 walter
@@smugcat2521 yeah this reminds of the scene with Walt tells Jesse abt Gray Matter. Since he doesn’t have the gray matter business, and his family hates him he has nothing but the meth business to look forward to
I think what makes this even sadder is that the scheme is just a more elaborate version of the first con Jimmy and Kim pulled that sparked their romance, only now Jimmy is all alone pursuing the only thing that gives him any sort of rush.
He’s also doing it with two random dudes. He really is a sponge that brings others down in the mud with him wherever he goes.
@@tankdogization Except those 2 random dudes came knocking. They clearly had something not good planned but I don’t think they were smart enough to figure out what that might be. I think Jeff recasting changed more than then creative team might be willing to admit as the original Jeff was clearly…..CLEARY angling at extortion.
@@tankdogizationstfu, those dudes asked for it
@@bernielomax4702 I thought the same at first but have heard that these scripts were written before they knew Don Harvey wouldn't be available
@@bernielomax4702that’s true, the original Jeff was menacing and the replacement was a pushover
People who say his transformation was rushed or that this is completely out of character for Jimmy, forget that there were about 6-7 years between this scene and the last time we see him with Kim.
And two years of Breaking Bad
He lived as gene for 6 years?!!!
@@bunny1114 No he’s saying 6 years after him and kim break up. Remember the entirety of breaking bad takes place in that space
@@MoistPancakes breaking bad only last 2 years though I think.
@@bunny1114 No. The op is saying it’s 6 years after he last sees Kim. Roughly. The last time he sees Kim is the divorce scene which is roughly late 04 early to mid 05 (again that’s estimating). The Gene timeline is in 2010 roughly so you’re looking at 5 - 6 years since Jimmy last saw kim. My guess is he lives as Gene for a handful of months. Maybe someone more clever than me can estimate when Breaking Bad “Granite State” takes place and when Better Call Saul “Uno” Gene scene takes place.
I know that this might be recency bias, but this montage is probably my favorite of the entire series. It’s absolutely chilling.
the Perfect Day montage from S6E9 and this are def up there
Something stupid deserves a spot in the top 3
There is something compelling about it. Slippin Jimmy - slippin into something he can’t slip out of……
Yup. Same shit, different day. Jimmy is numb to it all at this point. It’s so tragic but so so good.
@@Supermariosupervideo The perfect day montage was so brutal I absolutely loved it.
This is like a crystal blue persuasion moment
Exactly what I thought seeing this for the first time
The episode also reminded me of "Gliding Over all" from Breaking Bad. Everything seems to be fun and going well for both Gene and Saul until they make that one mistake.
But that’s like a fun montage where Walter gets what he’s wanted forever. This is like watching a man drink himself to death.
@@trustyghost79 exactly, this montage is incredibly sad.
It’s a ‘Tapioca Tundra’ moment.
This montage was such a stark contrast to 7 years prior when we got the flashy Vegas-style montage with Marco.
I had never heard this song before and now I just can’t get it out of my head. This is one of the best montage scenes of the entire series .
Matches the scene perfectly. Still can’t believe it’s all over 🙁

We may be witnessing the last montage of the universe.
makes me incredibly sad honestly. montages in this universe are just that good. at least if this is the last, we're left with two of the best!
For me, this is the most soul-crushingly depressing part of the show. It’s the result of everything set in motion 6 years ago and lifetime without Kim
Love how the sweater he wears makes it look like he has a chain around his neck. He's the boss of his own little operation, under the guise of a meek, mild middle aged man. It captures it perfectly.
By this point in the series, Bob Odenkirk said he genuinely disliked the character he was playing. He actually said "I don't like this guy!" and wondered how much further he'd go before either snapping out of it or getting killed or in prison.
My favorite montage in the show. Easy and calm guitar song, Jimmy back to doing what he most likes to do, but he feels emptiness. He's simply not happy. Still, all this drinking at the bar every time I watch this video makes me take my favorite drink, White Russian. Cheers to all of you who love this show and who live together with Gene!
White Russians are my favorite too! 😂
Served in a copper cup. Interesting. BCS is such a great show I’m sad that it ended. 😭
The Dude abides
Jimmy has become Walter and it’s so fitting. We see Walter ordering Jesse around (like normal) and we fast forward to Saul (or gene) looking exactly like Walter white in appearance and running as the leader to his own scam. He’s turned into Walter and it’s been a fun transformation to watch thus far
That's crazy how much influence walter had on gene's demeanor
Living an unfulfilling life, wearing sweaters, khakis, and buttoned shirts, wearing glasses, facial hair, balding.
He's definitely become Walter.
This is the moment gene becomes Heisenberg
Right
He looked like Walt in the Nippy episode when he was talking about Walt
I think the best part of this is that split second of the dog giving Buddy that look. Even the dog realizes how evil this is, but the guys running it dont
Howard was right. Saul never did any of this for money, he did this for fun.
I can’t really explain it but this was the saddest part of the show for me.
It's like watching a recovering alcoholic, who you really care about, completely relapse after getting their heart re-broken. It's devastating
This song has been stuck in my head forever
This is likely intentional but this entire montage reminds me so much of the crystal blue persuasion montage from breaking bad
Seems very much intentional. Cause after that episode everything went downhill for Walt. Seems to be the same for Gene and Saul.
Not sure if it's intentional, but the rolled mat he uses as a pillow at 0:28 sure looks a lot like a cinnamon roll
I absolutely love the sequence starting at 2:05. Like something you’d see in an Orson Welles movie
Something I never noticed is towards the end, Gene hands Jeff and his friend one of his CC Mobile phones to instantly call him. He really is back in his old ways.
It’s completely on character for Jimmy. He had been pulling scams since the beginning with the rollerbladers. He scammed Irene to try to get her to settle It’s completely in character for Jimmy. He had been pulling scams since the beginning with the rollerbladers. He scammed Irene to try to get her to settle now, he scammed Chuck which led to his suicide, he scammed the court to keep Huell out of jail. He scammed Howard, which led to his murder. Then he scammed people to help Walt build his empire. It’s an addiction. It feels amazing. At times it feels better than helping people and when you try to stop, but get one little taste, you want more. That’s what happened to Kim. She has had prior scamming experiences with her mother and saw how good it made her mom feel although she knew it was wrong. Then she got a little taste when she helped Huell, and wanted more. So they switched the mesa verde files, and started scamming Howard. Then she found out Lalo was alive, but didn’t say anything so she can keep getting that rush, but karma came back in the form of Lalo, killing Howard while he was confronting them about the scam. That was her Ozymandias. After that, she realized this isn’t going to work, and she left just like Walt and Saul did. Where she ended their relationship, Walt and Saul ended their empire.
This montage is brilliant because it evokes such mixed feelings. To start the scene seeing something as material and silly as the Swing Master have such a powerful affect on Gene's psyche, was both uplifting and depressing. It's like, "haha hell yeah, Saul is making a comeback baby!" ... But then the 'new low' nature of this 'roofies, breaking & entering, and identity theft' scam that Gene is running with the goobers from the mall, just festers in the background as we reflect on how Jimmy got this dark point in his life.
Watching this scene was a back-and-forth emotional viewing experience of "Hell yeah, Slippin Jimmy with the galaxy brain conman finesse, Bravo vince!" and "my god, this is so dark, please stop." The phenomenal writing and cinematography really bring everything together. And of course, the somber tone of this A1 soundtrack choice (only Baby Blue at the end of BB was more perfect).
Out of the three identities, I think Gene is the most despicable. Even Saul Goodman had a conscience.
Yeah, I used to think Saul was the evil one and Gene the pitiful one. After Season 6 you realise it’s the other way round
I agree. Gene completely refused to take accountability for any of his actions, ripped off a man dying of cancer, was about to kill him with a vase full of his dog’s ashes and damn near was about to murder an elderly woman. Marion genuinely saved him from spiralling further into evil by calling the authorities.
This is probably my favorite scene of the series
This is like watching an addict relapse
Kevin Costner is at it again.
Can’t believe it’s all coming to an end tomorrow… it’s going to be an emotional night no matter what happens to gene..
I really like how they start with Saul scamming assholes to get us to at least kind of be ok with it, but then they do the cancer guy and it really shows how wrong it is
Easy to forget that people who hire the vaccum cleaner man generally have many more luxuries and priveliges than Walt did when he got relocated. Like when "Gene" went to that diner in Season 5 and the bars in Season 6, interacting with people outside his orbit, i was surprised.
I think he was probably encouraged to keep as small a circle as possible and not interact with anyone apart from his work colleagues, but in the diner in season 5 he basically thinks he might be on the run again and in season 6 he just doesn't care
This is song is such a beautiful choice. I fucking miss this show so much lmao
I love this montage so much. It may be my favorite in the entire Breaking Bad universe.
I don't know why he looks especially sinister in this wide shot here 2:24
and here 3:00
That song's by and sung by Mike Nesmith.

The recasting of Jeff totally changed the tone. The new Jeff is timid unlike the original Jeff we saw in the mall.
Glad to see Carol Burnett.

I don't get people like you. Even if they kept the original actor, the show still would've progressed the exact same way because that's what the writers intended.
I don't get what the point of these comments are. The recast was done out necessity, nothing else. Complain about it all you want but it already happened and it was only the case because of schedule conflicts, an all too common problem in movie making.
@@vscurt4601 No he’s right, new Jeff is actually better bc old Jeff was way too menacing for this twist to work. They might’ve made it work but the new actor fits this role much better
To me this was Jimmy's crystal blue persuation moment
Either this or the something stupid sequence
I want a lawyer like Saul was.
boy gene sure looks happy
He finally said fuck it, what's the difference. He just wanted to see Kim again in the end. Thats all that mattered.

Saul in the strip club was gangsta
This montage is amazing and much like his feature in crystal blue persuasion montage it shows that he is truly miserable in this cycle but he just can’t help it
Was so happy to see him back on that machine. It quickly turned bitter sweet and Jimmy chose to go down Bad Choice Road once again.
It’s tragically beautiful
My favorite montage in the entire franchise
This show is so beautiful, tragic but beautiful
Whatever that conversation was in the phone booth, was not good. Honestly terrified to see what it was.
Everything is pointing to a depressing ending for Gene/Jimmy
I still think he will end up being a prison lawyer for other inmates after getting sentenced.
there’s videos where it is edited and you can hear the conversation
I like the fact that buddy brought his dog with him into the houses as he robbed them like the dog was his sidekick
I just realized how reckless this scam was. They could've killed somebody from the sedatives and alcohol combonation.
I don't think Saul cared at this point. He just called Kim, thinking she called because she was worried, only for her first words to be "What do you want!?" and for her to tell him to turn himself in and go to jail.
He isn't truly happy, but it's better to have a bad cope than no cope at all.
Well Gene is definitely slipping back to his Saul ways, and there goes any lingering threads of his morality. And judging by the women in his bed, I doubt he's interested in Kim anymore.
You didn't get it, he sleeps with women again precisely because he can't get over Kim. The very first scene they show us after Kim breaks up with him is Saul sleeping with a hooker, and now after he got distraught over something about Kim (or maybe talked to Kim herself we don't know yet) he is sleeping with other women again.
It's his way to cope.

It's like Slippin' Jimmy's schemes with Saul's level of ruthlessness now, scarey
Perfect song by Michael Nesmith used here. He'd of been so proud.
It’s likely Gene thought of this scheme earlier but just resisted the urge, is he trying to get caught?
I'm not sure if he's trying to get caught, but the shot where it's likely he came up with the scam, the dough kneading machine, probably means something. it's shown right after this montage, with Gene turning it off. I can't tell you for sure what it means but if your guess is correct it could be him carefully weaving some kind of plan that's larger than just the scam itself. maybe something to see Kim again, after that phone call, which started all of this to begin with.
Identity theft is not a joke, Jimmy!
3rd Monkees tune used ! Going Down when 'pest control' cooking. Lol. No Time ?
This is actually disturbing now upon rewatch
He definitely went out with a bang
When I watched the part where buddy and Jeff were stacking the money, I had no idea gene was between in them in the back that was so well done
Hard to believe Gene was solely responsible for 90% of scam rap swipe methods music that exists today
.this was the saddest part of the show for me. ):
We're all entitled to our own opinions, but this is the greatest montage in the history of television and it's not up for debate.

This is what his brother was saying the whole time that he will never change. I think he realized his brother was right and just said F it. Some people really get addicted to swindling and scamming.
