An old man at my work heard the breakdown at the end of the song where Minneapolis repeats. He asked me what the song was & to play it again. Next day this jolly 68 yr old is singing some verses from it almost the entire 3 hours he's in.😎.

Not gonna lie, this song sold me on Minnesota - if I ever move to the states it's my first destination
I was born hard of hearing and didn’t get the medical care I needed until I was an adult and in charge of my own healthcare. And I would always fail the hearing screenings at school. But because Slug articulates so well, I would spend hours at home listening to Atmosphere albums and listening to one line at a time and writing down the lyrics. I would spend like an hour on each song because I’d play each line over and over until I figured out what he was saying. This is exactly how I learned to differentiate consonant sounds and was actually able to communicate with people. I know a lot of people say hip hop saved their life, and I can absolutely attest to that. Slug literally taught me fundamental communication skills, and I will forever be appreciative of him. 💜
I showed this to my parents over Christmas and they absolutely loved it. Especially since we're from Duluth, Minnesnowta.
Although, the parks in Duluth are NOT clear of stems and syringes....

@@russell9117 Well, maybe not anymore but it's still a dope town. I've lived in Minneapolis for the last 21 years so the problems in Duluth aren't nearly what they've been here in South Minneapolis. But I still love it, I have no intention of moving.

Even when he's spitting fast, I can always understand what he's saying.
Definitely one of the best aspects to his style along with his crazy ability to tell stories and paint pictures with words.

I grew up 40 minutes north of Tulsa and I love that Atmosphere always hits the cities that don't usually get good shows. Slug and Ant are the people.

I'm from New York and I used to listen to atmosphere back in the day when he was first coming up... and I always used to imagine Minneapolis when he would make songs about it. It sounded like a cool place both literally and figuratively. He was really good at painting a picture.
