    Thank you again Daniel! Midas does not offer this info anywhere. I'm serious, without your videos to guide me I would have sold my M32 long ago. Midas should hire you.

    This was one of the first “secrets” I learned at an EDM club I was working at.
    The bar staff and crew members could tell not only when I WAS there but especially when I was NOT there because I would save my own separate scene.

    The demo was unconvincing. But I know it works, as I've used it for a long time - hard to live without it. I learned several things from this video. Thanks.

    I discorver this way for make an insert with the 4 firsts fx and the dual combinator who was unknow for me, thank you for this double tips ! I will try it. Really good pedagogy on your videos, i love how you explain the gate with your garage's door !

  • @shardsrecordingstudio-matt2247

    That's so funny, I was in a studio when I was 17 and they had a combinator in their mix bus and from hearing how it worked on my mixes, I wanted to try it on just vocals but the owner scoffed at me. Always thought it was a good sounding piece of hardware, what came out always better than what went in(which is admittedly rare for Behri stuff)

    Lol, I use this on the main mix. A seasoned engineer friend showed me the tip. I think it’s all about how you use it as far as crushing your mix vs using it tastefully.

    Hmmm...I find that the de-esser works fine when used correctly. It is NOT an aggressive effect. It helps a LOT to remove p pops and percussive. I usually use it on all the vocal channels and it works fine for me. But there is a VERY fine point of acceptable with this effect that I NEVER have to deal with with an in the box de-esser. I find that any setting for the highs that is above 15-20 is FAR to aggressive. I generally wind up between 8 to 15. Also important to set the male/female accordingly. That means if you have a male who sings really high like high tenor or alto you may want to use the female setting...conversely if you have a female that sings low like low tenor or baritone, you may want to use the male setting...

    • @fotsoe
      @fotsoe Před rokem

      I'd have to agree. I've used it live and I had no major issue, it was completely fine. As mentionned, I think you should be fine if you use it correctly. Let's just say that it's not a one knob plug-in in this case. The plugin's doc might help as well. That being said, a multiband comp will give you an additionnal layer of control that you wouldn't get from a simple de-esser.

    • @pvalenti
      @pvalenti Před rokem +1

      @@fotsoe don't forget, you can also de-ess with the stock comp, key off itself and use a high shelf.

    • @fotsoe
      @fotsoe Před rokem

      @@pvalenti absolutely, but don't you loose the comp ? Well, I guess you might just insert a plug-in to compress then...

    Band solo is not only in headphones it comes out left and right as well. Don't press this when live lol

    Why they don't display the threshold on each band ? Like they do with the gain i mean. Weird.

  • @513BRAM
    @513BRAM Před 9 měsíci

    Isn't the band solo a "destructive " thing .. i.e. if I band solo during a life performance that will come though the mains and not just my headphones?

    • @danielkharrat
      @danielkharrat  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Any solo button goes to the solo bus (headphones). What you're talking about is called solo in place (SIP) where the solo comes out of the main speakers. The waves emotion lv1 mixer can do that but that feature doesn't exist on the m32 so don't worry about it

    we can used combinator for vocal bus???, i need using this feature control dynamic range for all vocal like one

  • @henryvanschalkwyk2133

    Is the insert pre fader or post, so will it affect the vocals in the singers monitors/IEM, because that will be a problem.

    • @djabthrash
      @djabthrash Před rokem

      you can choose its position, and also choose the bus send position of your input channel
      (and you can also use that on a subgroup, which goes to FOH but not to the wedges

    I love your videos. i Have a Neve 1073SPX mono preamp & EQ how i connect plug the NEVE to MIDAS M32 Live ? for record guitars and vocals, i use the Aux ? i dont no how i plug to Midas. using the Send return in NEVE to aux in MIDAS ? or plug the instrument direct to NEVE OR MIC Input to NEVE and in the back of the NEVE Use the Output to INPUT XLR NEVE ? Regards from Portugal !!

    • @danielkharrat

      Plug the instrument directly into the neve then connect the output of the neve to the aux input on the mixer and record the aux input

    • @danielkharrat
      @danielkharrat  Před rokem +1

      @The Zoo because the xlr input has the midas preamp so your instrument will be passing through the neve preamp and through the midas preamp
      The aux doesn't have a preamp so you'll get the signal as it is from the neve
      It's up to you
      Do you want to have the midas preamp in the signal chain or not
      If yes use the xlr input if not use the aux in
