Thanks, but I found this design online (a blog post somewhere do not remember). I liked it cause it is cheap, and it was something I could make myself. So, I tried it.
I imagined this design in my head but couldn't have imagined a more simple and effective way of making this one you made, very smart design. Congratulations!
I was also outraged by how much money ppl were charging for their toilet systems that were usually just some cheap plastic thing so I got a bucket and a oil funnel and made my own diverter and plumbed it to my grey water tank, pretty easy and I only have to empty it about once every two weeks and it looks way nicer that the bought ones :)
@California Guy What is the problem with doing this? I have a 200L grey tank, I estimate about 10L of urine is going into it before it is full, apparently if you dilute urine to 10% with water you can just put it in the garden no problem. So what you call lazy is what I call efficient....and a bit clever.
You did a FANTASTIC job of making your own. You also clarified a solution for me on the half bucket funnel - simple, cheap, effective. Your ingenuity and creative skills are very high. I also love the fact you refused to pay the extortionary rates for plastic toilets. You can buy a porcelain home toilet for $100 but plastic toy toilets cost $500 - $1200 - outrageous! I feel conned by these toilet makers. The way you have it set up on plastic and the raised platform is all good. Bravo and thank you!
I am so glad you posted this! I had been racked my brain for a funnel that would go from side to side because I use a portable bidet instead of toilet paper. Bucket in a bucket is my solution now so thanks!
For my make shift bidet I use a new chemical pump sprayer. I have only used just water n maybe a drop of hand soap. Works well n if I need the water a little warmer I use a heating pad for a couple of minutes so it doesn't feel like a polar bath. Lol
BRILLIANT! The best urine diverter I have seen! I have been looking at dozens of ideas and YOURS IS THE BEST AND THE MOST ECONOMICAL THANK YOU VERY MUCH REBBAR64
Very clever idea I like how you were straight to the point as well. This has to be one of the best videos I've watched on composting toilets. You explained it well it was easy to understand without all the red tape. Thank you
You my dear have just solved my potty dilemma! You are a woman after my own heart! I will be taking your build and making it my own!!! Man this is awesome, genius ladies unite!
At first glance was thinking this is going to be ridiculous because the quality of the wood work cutting was so bad. Wow what a great idea. Thank you..
Thank you for posting this! I have been going back-and-forth about what kind of toilet to get for my van when I go full-time, but honestly some of the do it yourself designs are very complicated and the directions are not clear in the video. I had just about given up on the whole composting toilet idea, despite the fact that I would like to leave as little “trash behind“ as possible. Like you, I hate the idea of spending $700-$1200 on a toilet! But this seems very doable and I really really thank you!❤️
I am renovating an old RV, and the toilet is the important change. I appreciate this video for the excellent ideas you provided! Thanks! Stay safe and be well.
@Bob Davidson it's in there in such a way that your suggestion won't work. Additionally, it's too low for my knees to deal with. I'd rather remove the old, very dirty one and build something I am comfortable using. Thanks for your suggestion, though.
New to your channel liked and subscribed. We really like your DYI. Dry and wet composting toilet setup. It's a very thought out and great idea well done. You can also use a little bit of lemon juice and we give you a citrus smell as well . Gives us so ideas to spin off of yours thank you for sharing and we are looking to watch more of your videos
After seeing the price of the manufactured composting toilets I'm very glad I ran across this video. I plan on making one now too with a mixer or agitation lever and using coconut core.
Thanks for uploading. I have a DIY compost toilet which hasn't been tested yet at the back of my garden house. Trying to decide if I need to modify for urine separation. Guess I'm just lazy but this is a really good solution.
I'm buying my first RV and I knew the first modification I was going to do was the compost toilet. Definitely cant aford to buy a prebuilt one, and even the DIY ones had expensice components like the urine diverter. I keep seeing them for over 100 dollars. I'm so glad you posted this video and glad I found it! I would also love an update on how satisfied you are with this build or if you had to make any adjustments!
Well, since I finished building, that was when everything closed down. I have used the tolet when out running errands, because I did not want to use the restroom in the stores. I love that I have that option. Hopefully I can take some short close by trips soon.
genius. Ill be making one too very soon. I'm in my camper on land with no sewage so I've been using a luggable loo but I need a pee separator and now I know how. Thank you. Like you I"m not paying a bunch of money for one.
I really like your toilet! I think I need to redo mine. I have a mop bucket and shopping bags which I have to separate the liquid into a hole so I can burn the solid.
This is a great design! I’ve been using something similar, but designed for men only. No need to buy a composting toilet when you can make them so cheap and easily👍
Nicely desiigned urine seperator. I would probably modify the position of the urine catch pan to allow the seat closer to the front of the plywood "box."
Check out my updated video on it. Made some modifications. (I still love it and use it a lot). Also I have made another adjustment for pooping, use a trash bag, over the hole bucket, then tie off and dump in the trash.
Nice video! Can you keep me posted on how it goes after using it for some time in regards to smells and perhaps any liquids in the #2 side? Also is the fan vented on the floor of ur van or side of the van from the outside?
Nicely Done! Better than buying those expensive Composite Toilet. U.S. made a Composite Toile, but it cost $1109. For that price, there is nothing convenient about througin out the number One or Two. Haha. Thank you for the video.
A lot of the composting toilets out there start at $1000 and go up, but there are a few in the $500 area as well (definitely ridiculous!). Your DIY is just as effective - thank you SO MUCH for this design! I love it!
Please show us ur disassembly and reassembly 1 vid each pretty please. And the plans for those of us that are challenged with power tools usage. It would be cool if u make a stencil of the entire kit and sell it.
Simple and effective. I’ll be making something similar. I’d fit the urine diverter to the lid thats lifted up to empty the loo. This would mean there wouldn’t be anything riveted to the bucket, making it possible to use biodegradable bags to line bucket to either bag each deposit individually (dog poo bags) or use as a composting loo with bigger bags. This would make emptying far less unpleasant as all you’d need to do is tie up the top of the bag to seal it, carry the bucket with bag still inside to the dumpster and tip it in. I’d want a lid on the poo bucket to keep the flies out and the smells in, especially when driving as a commuter fan doesn’t stand a chance of overcoming the draft caused by traveling at 70mph.
...and the 2020 Oscar for DIY toilet ingenuity goes to...
Thanks, but I found this design online (a blog post somewhere do not remember). I liked it cause it is cheap, and it was something I could make myself. So, I tried it.
I imagined this design in my head but couldn't have imagined a more simple and effective way of making this one you made, very smart design. Congratulations!
Of all the diy composting toilets out there, I must admit that your's is the best!
I agree!!!
Love the simplicity of your urine separator. Thanks for sharing.
one of the best designs i've seen .... and you're the ONLY ONE who has even addressed the issue of cleaning

A bucket in a bucket... The simplicity is genius! Thanks for saving me $$$$!

Best DIY toilet I've seen

That was very resourceful.
For my make shift bidet I use a new chemical pump sprayer. I have only used just water n maybe a drop of hand soap. Works well n if I need the water a little warmer I use a heating pad for a couple of minutes so it doesn't feel like a polar bath. Lol
Very impressive indeed!
Nice job. The bucket in a bucket for a urine diverter it's a great idea. To buy something like that'll cost you fifty bucks
BRILLIANT! The best urine diverter I have seen! I have been looking at dozens of ideas and YOURS IS THE BEST AND THE MOST ECONOMICAL THANK YOU VERY MUCH REBBAR64

Excellent design and money saving! Thank you for sharing. I love the fan addition too.
Well done. Couldn't agree more about the so called "composting toilets" being sold for up to $1000. Your version is essentially identical.
thank you! this is is precisely the design i was looking for, very practical and no nonsense.
You my dear have just solved my potty dilemma! You are a woman after my own heart! I will be taking your build and making it my own!!! Man this is awesome, genius ladies unite!
I just made an update, for the toilet, I made a modification to it.
At first glance was thinking this is going to be ridiculous because the quality of the wood work cutting was so bad. Wow what a great idea. Thank you..
I've never seen anyone use the 'bucket within a bucket ' design before. Looks like a pretty good idea.
Very simple - very efficient! Well done!
Thanks for sharing!

Best dang simple design ive seen yet. Well done.
Thank you! I knew there had to be a simple way to add a seperator. I came up with my own idea, but I like yours a lot better.

Great idea and awesome work on your camper.
REALLY NICE SIMPLE AND FUNCTIONAL WORK. NICE USE OF ECONOMIC MATERIALS AND HARDWARE

Been looking & looking for a good design, love it thanks for sharing!😊👍👍
Great job! Very smart & innovative!
Simple but complicated. Impressive DIY solution for urine separater. Hadn't seen that sprayer concept before. Nice work!
Hi where is the sprayer concept? maybe I overlooked it
Nice job. I made my own too, but yours looks neater. I do like the natural wood finish in your van.
WOW. Buy the Separett diverter for $200 or do the bucket hack. Love it.
Excellent job girl!!
Brilliant Solution - agree, elegant simple solution anyone can do.. thanks for posting
The best simple solution on you tube.. the funnel was perfect 👍
Awesome job! Thanks for the idea for the urine diverter👍

This is brilliant! 👏🏻
I've been searching and searching for an easy, cheap urine diverter. I think this is the one, thanks so much for showing it off!
Check out my updated video on it. Made some modifications. (I still love it and use it a lot). Also I have made another adjustment for pooping, use a trash bag, over the hole bucket, then tie off and dump in the trash.
@@rebbar64 Oh, good to know. I will check that out. Thanks!
Thank you, this is very helpful.
Excellent Brilliant design!
👏 Nice! Well thought out.
This is pure genius.

Great ideas. Stay safe.
best one i have seen!! Thanks
Nice work!
Totally agree. A seperating toilet is over priced. Bucket is way to go, and you have done a fantastic job!!! 👍👍
Great idea ....looks like it should work fine .. : )

Congratulations! it is great!
I'm betting that the $500 one was the cheapest. When I looked for one it was a couple thousand. I like your design
The urinary diversion basin is genius
Nice, No BS Video !
Liked/Subscribed !
yer video is still alive, well done
A lot of the composting toilets out there start at $1000 and go up, but there are a few in the $500 area as well (definitely ridiculous!). Your DIY is just as effective - thank you SO MUCH for this design! I love it!
very well done !!!!
Nice job
非常合理的设计,还可以准备些木屑什么的放在固体部分里。
Outstanding!!
Clever! Although putting the diverter on the seat and not on the bucket would allow you to switch out the bucket without the diverter.
Very innovative. Look at what we can do to save money.
Amazingly simple.
Great design
Exelente idea ... Gracias 👏👏✌️
I love the bucket in a bucket.
bravo well done
Great! I"m gonna make one!
Better than commercial offerings

Great video. How's it working for you?
This is a great design. The only feature missing, compared to the $1000 ones, is something to stir and mix everything with the composting media.
Don't need to mix or stir. Mine doesn't smell.
Brilliant ❤
Brava la signora🙌👍👍👍👍💋

a Walgreen 81 mg pain reliver cap will work to replace the spout or some prescription bottle caps
