I have been to Maputo... years ago. In fact i stayed there for almost 2 years at Matola and Laulane. It remi ds me of the time i was there... good!

Baixa includes the area around Filipe Samuel Magaia and Fernão de Magalhães. Would love to see that zone. I was born in Maputo, I left the country close 20 years ago. I miss Maputo.

So the statue of the man on the horse at the Fortaleza - I can not remember his name - was previously placed where the current statue of Samora Machel is. After independence, his statue was removed and placed at Fortaleza as an historical artifact. The Fortaleza is also a museum which you can visit. She also showed you a shot of the coin museum, of a mosk, and a few other things I missed.
I can't wait to come for a visit. I miss home. Once the boarders open, Insh Allah

That area is indeed safe because it's newly build. There's security guards and etc. But the old area, with the most charming old buildings isn't too safe on dead days - Saturdays and Sundays. You can walk but it's better to have no valuables. 😊
I walked all the places in baixa down town. For I felt safe. I'm not a snob I'm used to rough life as a South African township girl. Safer than Johannesburg
