    How about sending me a sample, bruh! Helpful content as usual. Love the haircut btw.

    Which mic will you recommend for choir?

    • @lcadigitalmedia
      @lcadigitalmedia  Před 11 měsíci

      That is technically an outdoor environment, I would recommend a shotgun mic like the rode shotgun mics but if you’re talking about playing an instrument and setting the mic closer to yourself, then this e614 is suited for this.

    Heard alot more room noise from the e614 compared to the rode. Rode was comparably louder, so hard to make a judgement. Noise could be coming from other parts of your audio chain too.

      I only had 1 Audio Recorder/interface (Zoom H8) during that recording, and I tried to keep it OOTB (raw) as possible for comparison.

  • @JeffBourke
    @JeffBourke Před 10 měsíci +2

    you need to boost the volume of the new mic so that we can actually compare.

    • @lcadigitalmedia
      @lcadigitalmedia  Před 10 měsíci

      Was initially thinking about that but I thought comparing them completely raw/no effects would be better at that time.
      My future videos are normalized though

      @@lcadigitalmedia Normalizing is not what he meant.. to judge and compare the 'sound quality' you need to set both mic's to a different gain so that they are the same level. This because we tend to perceive louder audio as better because simply put; our ears work that way. Luckily I could get some info by manually turning up and down the volume of the video ;)

    As others have said, you first need to EQ the gain to fairly compare different mic's. Without doing so, any such results are not really worth anything because you have failed to establish any fixed baseline. If you check other well known pro-audio YT channels that do mic tests, this is something which they would never miss doing.

      Hey, Thanks for the feedback.
      I was initially planning on doing that but I wanted to do comparison on how they output out of the box, which I purposely did not apply any EQ on that portion of the video. My goal wasn't to get the best tweak of both mics but how they (each) sound out of the box without any EQ or external processing.

    thats a gain hungry mic, Rode was like, twice as loud. Maybe a phantom fet head or a 32bit float recorder would fix it but thats too much for a $200 mic. Great video btw, liked it.

  • @JeffBourke
    @JeffBourke Před 10 měsíci +2

    obviously the rode sounds way better because you had the volume SO quiet on the new mic.

    • @lcadigitalmedia
      @lcadigitalmedia  Před 10 měsíci

      True but that is actually my issue with the rode, it’s way too sensitive even at 2-3 volume. It’s a con in my small space since it picks up the reverb of the room.

      @JeffBourke Před 10 měsíci

      @@lcadigitalmediaThe safety track is a super usefull feature on the NTG because the meters on all my camera are so hopeless, you can't see if you are clipping or not.

    • @lcadigitalmedia
      @lcadigitalmedia  Před 10 měsíci

      @@JeffBourkethat's true. I did indeed use that safetrack once before but that really depends on the use case like yours or when you're outdoor where you're not sure about loud is the environment.

    Could barely hear the Sennheiser even on maximum volume on my speaker. You should’ve at least normalize both of them. Also, why is there so much hiss in your recordings what type of preamp are you using man?

    • @lcadigitalmedia
      @lcadigitalmedia  Před 24 dny

      Hey, Yes I do normalize all my videos but this one was an exception as I just wanted to show and compare the OOB default output between the 2.
