    Bulls taking on the Knicks at the United Center in the '96 season. Michael Jordan has a rare horrendous shooting game against the Knicks so the Bulls rely on defense and the energy of Rodman's return to get the win.

    I remember this game well, the Bulls just steamrolled the NBA for a few years starting with this magical season. However this was a hard fought gritty game against a tough opponent. Your first game home after such a long road trip is always the toughest, especially against a very good squad like the Knicks. This game was a good example of why the Bulls we're so great, it's easy to win when you're dominating and blowing teams out, but when you struggle and have to fight from behind, your tested.

    7:48 - 8:02 Rodman totally controlled that sequence. First he grabbed the rebound, then gave the outlet pass for a quick break, which didn't work. As a trailer, he sets up the offense again, and once he gives the ball back to MJ he knew he was gonna get that backdoor pass, and he finishes the play AND gets the foul. Most of the time, people don't realize how much court vision this guy had. HALL OF FAME

    • @boogieloo1831
      @boogieloo1831 Před 6 lety +2

      Laughable. MJ and it's not even close. So much revisionist nonsense today. I watched the entire era and MJ was still by far the best as soon as he came back from retirement. If MJ didn't play the last 17 games of '95 when he dragged a losing Bulls team to a 13-4 record and into 5th or 6th place, they could have ended up in last place or even out of the playoffs.
      And MJ was by far the most complete player ever. He was the total package on offense and was the best wing defender in the game. Watching highlights is the most deceptive thing ever and you can never know what happened by watching them.

    This games proves how great the 96' Bulls were. This was a competitive game. Jordan was off the 1st half and didn't find his shot until the end of the 3rd. Pippen was the Poinr Foward and scorer, while the wings hit big threes, then you got the intangibles of Rodman on the boards. Too many winners and defensive geniuses on one team to beat them in a 7 games series.

    I need to look if they have a DVD on this, I think NBA coaches should use this as a mark for there team to strive for. In this game you see that everyone had been practicing outside of the game, they made their shots, and they played defense. If ever there was similarity to a 16-0 season in football this is it. Jordan took the backseat while Pippen was on the floor because he knew he could score whenever. Another sign of a great player, textbook definition of a great team in rhythm.
