Public access is a perfect way to describe the vibe and I don't want it to go back.
I could listen to Questlove speak for hours. He’s the completely immersed specialist professor whom everyone wants to hang with during office hours. He has so much joy in his knowledge.
He has a podcast called Questlove supreme.
Beautifully put!
I am a big fan of quest, I have meet him he super serious and actually quite boring. Still love him though
@@darhtdiscrupto And his chat with Mark Ronson on the Fader podcast is great.
This 12 year old white boy in 1969 loved R&B, and can’t wait to see this film.
The movie was phenomenal and the music-wow! I can't comprehend that this was a lost thing. The footage of Stevie Wonder hammering those drums or Mavis singing with Mahalia- so glad I got to see it but that such magic could have been just wiped away is a scary thought. Bravo on the film.
Seth is a really great interviewer
It was incredible. As a worshipper of Soul and Blues I loved it!! Every second! Especially Nina's poetry and music at the end
SUMMER OF SOUL not only was fabulous for me but it also took me back to the year I graduated from high school and also reminded me of how my (100 % Lithuanian) boyfriend, later to be my dear husband, introduced me to Motown! I’m extremely grateful!!!🌹
please don’t ever change from this public access feeling, Seth! Questlove is right- the timing, the vibe, we love the show like it is, do not bring back the audience I’m begging you…
But hosts need an audience, that what tells them, what works or not.
The public access feeling / concept on this video involves a great interview. The other part of Seth's show is mocking news via comedy which is better done with an audience. It is possible to do both but I do appreciate this video more bc of the guest and subject.
I loved Attic Seth best but Public Access Seth is a close second. I hope audiences never come back. I like the current vibe and it sets the show apart from all the other late night shows.
Someone put a lot of love into superior recording equipment, storing and saving all those tapes. Fate decided their future and Questlove's appreciation of music to restore that glory of musicians.
Summer of Soul was an excellent documentary. Entertaining & enlightening
It's so good, everyone should see it!
The participation of the band is one of the few things The Tonight Show still does right.
You ain’t lying
I watched it with my mother last weekend. It was excellent!
I finally got to see it as it's now on Disney Plus in the UK - and it is incredible. I'm so glad it's been put together at the same time as being so mad it was locked away for decades and kept from the world. Especially to the community the festival was put on for. Questlove and everyone involved in this film deserve ALL the awards. It's something so beautiful and so special.
There's 40 hours of this? I hope they are planning an extended version with as much coverage as possible
Agreed. They should put together performance videos of each band. I read an interview with the producers who hope to get the funding to do it properly.
I've been saying this since I saw the movie which took me back, made me laugh, cry. When I heard there was more, I thought of what they did with Woodstock movie; over the years added and added more and more of the concerts. I'm ready for 40 hours of binge nostalgia!
Best movie of the decade!!!
I love the Summer of Soul! A beautiful piece of history.
Thanks! Congratulations! Questlove is such a mellow individual and he still a young man..hoping his future stays bright and eventful!
i just saw the documentary Summer of Soul, i was blown away! Wow, i enjoyed every minute of it. It was a history lesson and very interresting to hear the stories of people who where there and ofcourse the best music! Maybe it is even more special because it took 50 years to show this to the world. Thx Questlove, greetings from Amsterdam
I saw Summer of Soul, and it was great and moving, and it also explained a lot from the past that was always mysterious.
Despite only being a first-time director, The Roots’ drummer Questlove has already entered rarified air as one of the nominees for the 2022 Academy Awards. he’s nominated for Best Original Documentary for his debut film, , which captured the subversive energy and vibrant performances of the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival. The documentary is also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Music Film, an impressive achievement for the veteran musician.
Summer of Soul is FANTASTIC!
?love is the MAN. I love the Roots so much. He's so funny, charismatic, and just wonderful. I love being from the same city as Quest.
I'm from PHILLY & Quest's a GENIUS.....
I watched this doc on Hulu and immediately went to my local theater to watch it again. It's an incredible film. Well done Questlove!
Such a sweet soul!
Just saw this. This movie is awesome! Wish I were there!
I want to know when it'll come out on DVD!!! I've been waiting so long for it to come out and I finally got to see it last week at our local indy cinema (Cape Cinema, Dennis, MA) and I just want to watch it again and again! It is a masterpiece! Thankfully, Cape Cinema has extended its play another week or so. Love, love, love this. Thank you, Quest, and others involved in the project. SO important. ❤❤❤KateColors
Its on Hulu
@@bfg3890 like, without paying extra
DVD. Just stream lol
What's is a DVD?
@@michaels2995 streaming is tough if your internet is spotty. Positive vibes from New Hampshire, remember to be kind to each other and yourself.
Saw Summer of Soul today in the theatre. Great great film and so glad those performances were captured. Definitely worth seeing in a theatre if you can.
OMG! I just watched Summer of Soul via HULU. THANK YOU Questlove! That was freaking amazing!!!
Saw the movie today...There was water coming out of at least one eye for more than 60 percent of the movie...If you havent seen make sure you do...preferably at a cinema
"Giving my bracket away." :-)
the man is an icon and wow! What a presence!
I'm a very white guy but Soul Train was on TV Saturday mornings for so long that you eventually found yourself watching at least some of it. And it really hasn't been Saturday mornings since they went off the air. One of the broadcast channels in Chicago started showing old Soul Trains on Saturday morning for a while, and that was pretty cool.
There a documentary on soul train. It's excellent
Only this is almost like Soul Train. Without the Late Don Cornelius, the great dancers, or the breaks. Straight through.
Summer of Soul is amazing!
🧡✨Questlove is Magic ✨🧡
ATTN NBC PAYMASTERS: DON'T BRING BACK THE STUDIO AUDIENCE!
This vibe works so well for Seth and his team and is clearly appriciated by the online viewing audience!!!
We will wake up someday to the realization of how special Questlove is to our American culture … he IS a national treasure.
I very much prefer it without audience as well!
Ahmir be glowing 💕
Welcome toTokyo 👀 Hooo! I had never imagined he visited here!
Questlove / ‘Summer of Soul’ I can tell this movie is gonna make me have ALL the feelings ☮️✊🏾💜
Questlove is king!!! His brilliance shines and Summer of Soul has got to win awards!!
Great interview! The film is great and I love the Japan story!
saw The Roots live at the Hurricane Festival in Germany in 2003... loved them before, loved them even more after and they were far fom being the main act....
Wonderful documentary ♥️🙏🏻
I simply love Lovequest… the dignity, his talent, knowledge and devotion. Love! Congratulations… glad you went to Tokyo
Great movie, loved it so much!
Oddly watching this and hearing Quest...I got a Barry White vibe! Would like to see a movie autobio about Barry and have Quest play the part...his history in the music genre would suit the pitch very well.
Barry's voice was wayyy deeper, but Questlove would be in the running as a potential for the biopic.
The whole Sly show used to be on CZcams, and I guess it was taken down a couple of years ago, Amazing footage. There's also a rare 7" (on Red Coach, mebbe?) called Harlem Cultural Festival which nobody seems to bring up when discussing the festival.
This was absolutely fantastic!
Saw this movie last night. Can't recommend it enough.
So much love! 🙏🏽💖
This looks like a cool documentary. All of the Oscar nominated documentaries this year look great. I don’t know which should win
Dang, I remember a Soul Train club in Osan, Korea in the late 80s!
The movie is a masterpiece
Thank you!!!!!
Cool. I can't wait to see it!
I'm 65 and I never heard of Harlem festival back then. Maybe because the news media was to focus on Woodstock 😮
Makes me wish I had Hulu !!
That video store wasn’t big but it was packed with everything. It was a magic place.
Do you think we can get the Harlem festival on a box set DVD 🤔
The audience destroys the rhythm of the show. Keep going in the direction the show is developing. Do not go back!
Wow they really didn't hesitate to cut off his outro lol
“Wow! Wow! Wow!” -Questlove, after spending too much time with jimmy fallon
Ask ?uestlove WHY he doesn’t remix the clips anymore please 🙏🙏🙏 that segment F’ing ROCKED!
First 5 seconds might quite possibly be the creepiest face I’ve ever seen
I have two people I know personally who sang in the choir. He Reparations Now. 🤣
POC artist are amazing!!!! White culture is African-black American culture!!! There is no nothing American more than the music POC have contributed!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm latin! and love it!!!!!!!!!! we are!!!!!!!!
You can't discuss this film without mentioning Sly and Family Stone. Why in God's name would they not show that clipm?!!!!
I think he’s lost weight? He looks a lot healthier.
Summer of Soul was good but I thought Wattstax was better.
The phobic army peroperatively concern because multi-hop technically interrupt among a important pelican. oceanic, voiceless poland
This is music not kpop.. Kpoop
WTF is wrong with Seth's show? Colbert has sold out crowds every night, try harder Seth
