• WORDS SOUNDS & POWER • Joey Jay - dub reggae roots Kiss 100FM 93 94 wikidub

A splicing together of two C90 cassette tapes which I had recorded on only half the side of each one. They were recordings of Joey Jay's "Word, Sounds & Power" roots reggae show on Kiss 100FM radio station in London Town during the early evening on Sunday nights during the early 1990's. One show was from 1993 and the other from the following year.
On this collection there happens to be two Burning Spear songs by coincidence, one from each year! And check out Aswad's awesome mixes of "Warrior Charge". Kendrick Andy lays down a couple of serious roots tunes, and Alpha & Omega rock the speakers with their classic digidub anthem "Show Me A Purpose". Also don't miss Mikey Mystic's brilliant "South Africa" at the end mixed by Mannaseh. Old and new this adds up to a nice mixture of tough reggae music for your musical pleasure and entertainment.

Wow. in the 80's we still couldn't get kiss radio here in Oxford but a friend in London used to tape Joey J's whole show for me and then I'd 'edit' 3 x C90 tapes to make myself tapes. Managed to make one CD recently finally. Still the best Reggae collection EVA.so to come across your music including those lovely Kiss Jingles from back in the day was SO cool. Well done. Will try to catch more of you. x
