I agree! Cruel Summer would is the perfect summer anthem, and easily could have knocked Old Town Road off that #1 spot. While Taylor didn't get a #1 with a single this era (as of now), her debut with ME! was very impressive. Regardless if it wasn't #1, it performed exceptionally well! I think Taylor just had a very particular way she wanted to structure this era, from her easter eggs and connecting her music/videos, and it's worked brilliantly!

Thank goodness someone else appreciates It's Nice To Have A Friend. I love that song so much, it's truly unique and so mystical and relaxing. It's simple, but that's done intentionally, and expertly so.
I really hope she releases more singles from this album and promotes the heck out of them! Lol I want her to have a big hit again. And it seems like she hasn't with this album so far. It's so annoying when artists only release 4 singles and some of them are dull in my opinion. Like why can't they release more potential hits when they clearly have them on their albums? Maybe it's a music industry thing, but why do they have to move on so quickly and do other things?
Commercially speaking, "ME!" and "YNTCD" still were hits even if they didn't reach #1! And the latter is hard to speculate. I think singles are released based on either 1) what the artist wants to reflect about their record to generate interest or 2) the label decides what will be the most 'commercially' successful to either A) make money or B) generate interest in the record. And usually, many records do have about 4 singles. I think that's typical because it's just to be expected. But Taylor has a HUGE timeframe until her Lover Fest tour, so she has ample time to release 2 more singles honestly.

"It's Nice To Have A Friend" is absolutely an enchantment! Unlike anything she's done before! And yes, "The Archer" is just....so clever! Words can't describe the power of that song.
I don't think "DBATC" will be a single solely because of how allegedly personal it is to Taylor. I think it just may not be the type of vulnerability she wants to put out, y'know? And I wish I didn't put "Soon You'll Get Better" because that is a VERY personal track. That won't be a single. As for "Daylight" I LOVE it, but I honestly think it just wouldn't be commercially viable as a single unless it was trimmed down for radio. The length is my personal concern for it as a single. But "INTHAF" doesn't have much single potential, but I think it is one of the strongest tracks off the record. It's unique production wise and tells a simple but impactful story. I'd see it finding success on the Adult Contemporary Chart.

I am of the few that feels like ME! was the perfect lead single, so was YNTCD as the second, Cruel Summer should have been the third single and released the first week of July and promoted up till September then she could release Lover as the fourth single and promote it Oct-Dec release The Man as the fifth and final single Feb 2020 and even perform it on The Grammys ^ that would have been my dream role out

I think the reason Cruel Summer hasn’t become a single yet, and might not be is because it’s a difficult song to sing live, especially the chorus. The range in this song is pretty big, ranging from A2 to E5. When taylor release a single, she also considers how it will be performed. I love Taylor but this song might be one of those that she just won’t be able to sing live. I still have faith though. Been listening to this song every day since the album release.
Oh, very good point! The chorus is difficult! I mean, when she performed "ME!", she hardly sang the "heeheehee" and "hoohoohoo" parts of the chorus. "Cruel Summer" does have part of the chorus similar to that, so it may be a case of not wanting to sing that live. In the studio, you can EASILY perfect your vocals. But when it's live, you have no safety net.
MAATHBP and Lover are my favourite songs from this album. I can't exactly point out what is so brilliant in the song lover but somehow everything seems perfect.
I don't think Taylor needs to release anymore singles are music videos at this point but I'd love her to release two more music videos just because I love her music videos
If Lover started HUGE, then people would've buy and listen more to the other tracks. But people noticed that the other songs might be like "Me" or "You Need To Calm Down" that's why I think they didn't bother with the other tracks.

I really like this list and agree with every track that you included! However I sometimes think of Daylight or Afterglow as being a good final single. I’m not really sure if they would do particularly well, but I really like those songs, and especially like the end of Daylight where she closes the album!

Ah, yes! I think it's an underrated track off "Lover". I'll be honest, it's not my favorite and I think it's a candidate to get cut from her Lover Fest setlist, similar to how "So It Goes..." was cut from the Reputation Stadium Tour.

I think the reason Cruel Summer hasn’t become a single yet, and might not be is because it’s a difficult song to sing live, especially the chorus. The range in this song is pretty big, ranging from A2 to E5. When taylor release a single, she also considers how it will be performed. I love Taylor but this song might be one of those that she just won’t be able to sing live. I still have faith though. Been listening to this song every day since the album release.
Oh, very good point! The chorus is difficult! I mean, when she performed "ME!", she hardly sang the "heeheehee" and "hoohoohoo" parts of the chorus. "Cruel Summer" does have part of the chorus similar to that, so it may be a case of not wanting to sing that live. In the studio, you can EASILY perfect your vocals. But when it's live, you have no safety net.
MAATHBP and Lover are my favourite songs from this album. I can't exactly point out what is so brilliant in the song lover but somehow everything seems perfect.

If Lover started HUGE, then people would've buy and listen more to the other tracks. But people noticed that the other songs might be like "Me" or "You Need To Calm Down" that's why I think they didn't bother with the other tracks.
I mean, "Lover" was still huge regardless of what people thought of the lead single.
