    the fact you go all the way to 5th gear for the burnout lets you know just how fast the wheels are spinning. incredible.

    Prostock is absolutely the most sophisticated & most prestigious class in all of dragracing PLUS the cars look better than most with Big tires under the ass end & slammed to the ground front & rear not to mention cloaked with a aerodynamic body that cuts through the wind.

    Pro Stock is the coolest class with fantastic engines. Much depends on the driver and everything must be right. Get so much power out of an engine that doesn't have much volume and the sound is wonderful.

    Nicely explained. I'm an old guy who remembers the birth of pro-stock the Glidden vs Grumpy days. What I've always liked is how pro-stock cars leave the starting line. No bucking, jumping, drifting. Light goes green they leave like a slot car.

    The original idea of Pro Stock was the ultimate in engine/drivetrain technology in a stock body (with minor exceptions for tire clearance). We've gotten far away from that.

    I dunno how the heck you made it into NPK I heard Stevie Jackson built a car went to the first race of the year and was turned away at the gate odd they would do that to him but allow you in maybe it’s those bad lights from your time in top fuel, you were deadly on the light in pro-stock and sucked at the light in a fuel car, and in NPK if you cut the light they’ll red light you I’ve seen them say a 0.008 was a red light I’m like uhm ok if you say so a perfect light is 0.000 but not in NPK I believe they consider a perfect light to be 0.020 anything under that is considered red

    Alex , pretty good video for the Pro Stock Car. We would also like some Shop - Trailer tour vids . Maybe a sit down with your crew and crew chief. I know the production of the vids is time consuming , but we're interested and supportive .
    Collect the run videos from your crew and some footage from a GoPro or two , easy content , Slap your Logo on it ... bla bla bla , not telling you how to do your job (ok maybe a little) , but getting more face time and more importantly WINS , will get you more subs (and sponsors?).
    Keep up the good work and don't let the haters get to you .
    Stay safe and Corona free... from Houston .

      usually those transmission are built like that, every time you go back and forth i believe the linkage goes up or down, which make it easier for drag racing, but Alex can explain it better

    Is the rear end an open differential? What is the rear axle ratio?

    • @scottb8175
      @scottb8175 Před 3 lety +1

      It's been many years since I was directly involved in Comp Eliminator and Pro-Stock level racing, but from my memory and what was run back then, most teams use a spool (solid) rear axle - no differential at all. Some used a mechanical locking diff, but at Pro-Stock's then average 1500 HP, they were extremely expensive and prone to catastrophic failure. Our shop's low to mid 8 second Comp cars (our own and the racers we sponsored with engines and machine shop support) used spools and gearing in the mid to low 5's. Pro Stock axle gear ratio was usually in the mid to hi 5's (eg. 5.93:1), to keep torque and stress on the gears and drive line down. The ratio is often changed to suit track conditions, but stays above 5:1. We only had one customer who was in Pro stock, and he couldn't afford anything but left overs from the competitive teams. Despite making low end competitive power - just shy of 1400 HP with a used 11000 rpm 503 inch ex-Allen Motorsports / Reher-Morrison BBC - he never qualified at any NHRA events that I knew of. Pro-Stock is too competitive for anyone without big bucks behind them.

    • @TheAleutiansolution

    • @johncarl5505

      @@TheAleutiansolution how is it way more exspensive when wear and tear is gonna be more from nitrous blowers and turbos

    • @TheAleutiansolution
      @TheAleutiansolution Před rokem

      @@ericsmith6677 N/A cars are the most expensive to build and make competitive. Power adder cars can just add more power and don’t really have the same development problems or considerations than an N/A car has. As for the consumables, Pro-Mod engines don’t turn the same RPM as Pro-Stock (7,000-8,000 vs 10,500 (12,000 a few years back)). And that amount of RPM will wear down parts considerably faster than an turbo or a blower car. Valve springs for example are changed after only one or two runs on a Pro-Stock car.

  • @captlucky2320
    @captlucky2320 Před 4 lety

    What's the difference between pro stock pro mod chassis is just the power adder

    • @randyg.743
      @randyg.743 Před 4 lety

      Pro mod cars have nearly twice the power a pro stocker has so the chassis have double frame rails from the front to rear for the extra power. There are many other differences as well including longer wheel base for the pro mods.
