    Thank you so much for making this! I saw some videos with Logic and Ableton and I thought "why are they assuming everyone uses Ableton or Logic?". 😅🤷‍♂️ I was able to get this working with my 707 and Garageband thanks to stumbling on your video! I set everything up and tested it successfully then saved the GB project as "MC707 Multitrack Template" so I can just open up and be ready.
    The bonus is that any of the 707 tracks can have external gear routed in to them from EXT IN L, R & RETURN L, R and then into one of those DAW tracks so it makes a nice mixer/interface/multitrack unit!

    Hi! Super helpful video, thanks! You mention there's no sync function with GarageBand. But there is with Logic Pro, correct? Are you able to describe how to set up the 101 with Logic Pro so that punching record in Logic starts playback on the 101 in sync with the midi clock?

    • @teabreakbeats
      @teabreakbeats  Před rokem

      Thanks for watching. I don't have Logic Pro unfortunately, but I do have a video on Ableton where I set it up to start playback. It's the midi settings that you have to mirror (it should be similar to logic) See czcams.com/video/lEIs64qTd6Q/video.html

    maybe i missed it. but what lead/adapters do i need? i have mc 101, MacBook pro computer , scarlett interface and ableton?

    • @teabreakbeats
      @teabreakbeats  Před rokem

      Thanks for watching. This video assumes that you are connecting the MC-101 to the MacBook with a USB cable. Connecting via USB is the only way to get "Multi-Track" recording from the MC-101 into your DAW. This means each of the 4 tracks (plus the master track, so 5 tracks in total) can be recorded into your DAW into separate tracks all at once. You can record to your DAW using instrument cables from the MC-101 analog output connected to your Scarlett (see my review of roland instrument cables here czcams.com/video/EufkPevd7IU/video.html) but you will only be able to record the stereo output (i.e. all tracks mixed together) and would have to record each track one at a time if you wanted them separate in your DAW. I hope this makes sense. I also did a video using ableton here: czcams.com/video/lEIs64qTd6Q/video.html

    Hi, thank you for the video! Quick question, how would you go about recording more tracks into Logic with MC 101 after you're done with those 4 initial tracks?

    • @teabreakbeats
      @teabreakbeats  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Sammy - thanks for watching. I think you mean you want to over-dub 4 more new tracks afterwards in say tracks 5-8? You can repeat the process by adding more new audio tracks and then selecting the inputs again on the new tracks. Make sure the "Record Enable" is on red for the new tracks (and not the existing tracks) so that it doesn't overwrite.

    Thanks a lot for your help and can I record the scatter session too? on the master only? Thanks again

    • @teabreakbeats
      @teabreakbeats  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi thanks for watching - you can select which track the scatter will impact e.g. just scatter track 3 or scatter on the master (but it will always get recorded via the Master mixdown - i.e. there isn't a separate scatter track that you can record on it's own) - have a look at my subtle scatter video on my channel czcams.com/video/1nGBLiNHbUA/video.html

    Good vid. Maybe you can help me out. I just purchased my 707 3 weeks ago and i was wondering if i could get a drum track as seperate channels inside my DAW? Or is it always recorded as single audio stereo track? Would be nice if you get al your drumtracks as seperate tracks in your DAW.

    • @teabreakbeats
      @teabreakbeats  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi - thanks for watching. Unfortunately the drum track outputs as a single stereo track. You could probably trick your DAW by hard panning some of your drums left and some right and then creating two MONO tracks in your daw... but that would still only give you two tracks. I normally just record multiple passes into the DAW using pad mutes to get each drum on it's own track...check my method in this video here czcams.com/video/8iFZ0EkTzH4/video.html

    This is such an excellent video. Thank you! I have a 3rd gen iPad Pro. Is there any way I can record to GarageBand using the MC 101? The audio drivers seem to be only for Mac OS, not iOS.

    • @teabreakbeats
      @teabreakbeats  Před 3 lety

      Hi - a class compliant driver was released for iOS devices in firmware version 1.6 (I still need to get a usb to lightning connection kit to try it) - but I think the class compliant driver might be limited to stereo (rather than multi-track)...! Thanks for watching!

      @teabreakbeats  Před 3 lety

      Hi - thanks for watching Martin (sorry for slow reply). Try checking your system security preferences, GarageBand / Logic must have access to the microphone! I hope that is the issue, another viewer had a similar problem and that was the solution. Cheers

    • @teabreakbeats
      @teabreakbeats  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi - I don't have Reaper unfortunately. But I think it will be very similar to this video and my Ableton video. Something like: Go to Options -> Preferences Then under Audio->Device->Select MC-101 as the Audio Device. Then create tracks in reaper and make sure the MC-101 inputs are selected. Then arm the tracks and record.
