I have to say that I really appreciate the way Monét discusses Bobs sobriety. It’s a non-factor, it’s just a fact. There is no shaming, no victimizing, or anything like that. I am a recovering alcoholic, sober for almost 22 years. I am grateful to be alive. I literally drank myself to death as a young adult and lived to tell my story. I lost a lot of connections due to my addiction and was very lonely, and depressed the first 2 years of my sobriety journey. I am grateful for the new wonderful friends I made after, and all the healthy relationships I cultivated since. I am even more grateful for my family and loved ones who loved me through, the “not a fun drunk” stage of my life.
I’m a recovering addict, and my husband is a recovering alcoholic, and I know exactly what you’re saying about not being fun. Every time he drank he’d go to jail. He was awful to be around. He didn’t get happy, or fun, but instead he’d get angry, violent, and most of the time he would actually get psychosis. So I totally believe you about not being fun. I’ve seen it firsthand, and been that myself
