Do Amen Do (I still cry when I listen to it)
Joromi
Siwo Siwo
Ekassa
Akwete
Arabade (later, 1977)
Others....
Also Rex Lawson and His Rivers Men (I thought he was a Ghanaian but he was a Nigerian.)
Some of a few immortalized Nigerian artists.
Amen.
Well done Merveil Moek. You have done well to still remember all these tracks. Nigeria, nay Africa, is blessed with abundance of talents, and it continues to shine in our music and movies. Keep up the great work. God bless you!!
Sir Victor Uwaifo is a living legend. He introduced twin guitar to music and his command of musical instruments - flute, piano, guitar etc is legendary. He must have started music as an Arts student at the Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria back in the 60s. His contemporaries at the time were the late Eddie Okonta, Victor Olaiya, Rex Jim Lawson, Adeolu Akinsanya (Baba Eto) to mention a few. His music was well sought-after by the movers and shakers of Lagos then particularly at Night Clubs. I didn't understand the lyrics but eh, who cares? The rhythm and the melody were enough for me. Long may you live, The Legend!
God bless Professor Sir Victor, Uwaifor our living legend. I have been a fan of Sir Victor Uwaifor from my high school days in the seventies. I am still one of his greatest fans. I listen to his music everyday in Pandora,it’s brings me joy and pride in the foreign land.Anyone, who listen to his masterpieces even when he will not understand the language of the lyrics of the music like me still enjoys his music.Sir Victor Uwaifor is a national treasure and a God’s gift to Nigeria.
Long live Professor Sir Victor Uwaifor.
The only complete artist in Africa and one of the very few in the world. A composer, singer, a multiinstrumentalist, painter, sculptor and inventor. I hope we will really appreciate him before he leaves this side.
Sadly he's gone, a great man indeed
Great man and son of the Benin royal family. The mother was a great princess of Benin. May his soul rest in peace.
A wonderful legend that played and performed all through out his life. A quintessence of African arts and music.
One of the greatest musicians of our generation may your soul rest 🛌 in perfect 💯 peace ✌️
I'm not from Benin but this is great music, classic highlife from the man himself.
I have been a fan of yours from 1965 I can play his strings with my mouth 👄 without the knowledge of the language you are awesome sir
I wished you understand our language you would love the songs even more
Sir Victor Uwaifo is one of the greatest and one of the most talented guitarist in the whole world. He ranks very high in and Africa with the congolese and best in Nigeria. He eats, drinks, sleeps and even bath the GUITAR. Daddy Uwaifor, may you live very long for the world to continue to enjoy the 'GUITAR BOY' FEELING!!!!! (Prof. M. A. Okungbowa)
MICHAEL OKUNGBOWA You are absolutely right. As a guitarist, he towers above the likes of Eric Clapton. He has no compare.
Still looking for one of his releases 'POLICE' used my college pocket money to buy any of his latest then in 60"s. Let it not hit the air, I will visit all the record stores at PH. looking for that latest. Sadly, I lost all my collections during the war.
Quite epic!
@@akwasiasamoahjnr8971 Thanks Akwasi, I have all these, just looking for "POLICE" it has a yellow label
Share more stories like these. How was Nigeria before the war, musically speaking. What part of PH did you school?
Epa, you did your part as God has sent and allow you. It remains for the rest the other people to either lift up that land Edo for us. Get rid of the prevailing human failing that has plead it and the nation. May your inventionary inspiration guide the rest people. Ise.
Respect to you sir Victor Uwaifo, the lengendary guitar maestro. May your days be long sir. there is no comparison to you.
A great musician of our time. Sir. Victor Uwaifo is everything that completes a man.
I salute you sir.
During the civil war, Biafran radio stations played Victor (Nwafo) Uwaifo's recordings that it stock to My memory. Uwaifo and Rex Lawson are TRUE Biafrans.
Thanks for the music and memories.
Just because radio station in the east played the music of those you referenced now makes them true Biafrans; what kind of logic is that? So if radio OYO plays a music of Oriental Brothers, that makes Warrior an Oduduwa decent abi?. But who is true Biafran and who's not?
@@godfreypamosoo7216 ;;;;;; Very good reply, my brother. God bless you.
@@oviedo7213 Oviedo721: you are very much welcome. Remain ever blessed.
