  • After successive blanks it was nice to return to one of my old hunting grounds and land a nice 10lb 12oz barbel.

    Top fishing again mate, yet another stunning double for you👍 I need to put in more effort to have a chance of catching one of these... Loved the footage of you playing the fish in the darkness 😮 . Well done mate & tightlines on your next session 🎣

    Another beautiful fish mate, well done! Did you ever get down to the Mexborough stretch at all?

    • @ukfishingvlog
      @ukfishingvlog  Před 8 lety

      +MrTim207 Didn't quite reach Mexborough. Parked on mill lane and walked for ten minutes downstream at bottom end of Harlington for a daytime session. Had two cracking bites but blanked. Will definitely be back am sure theres some barbel to be found from Harlington to Mexborough.

      There certainly is barbel there I've had a few myself upto double figures, there's some really nice gravel patches and deep holes worth targeting. Some big chub too, 4 and 5lb along with bream to 5lb. But as you know there's no guarantees with the Dearne.

    Another superb double figure barbel Russ. Well done indeed? Intrigued by the way you have the swim illuminated at night. What to you use to achieve that? A great video, thanks. Best wishes.

      +Harry Turner Thanks. Camera lighting and filters is all I use for filming at night.

    A good session there, Russ, and a cracking barbel. Are there still a few coming out of the Dearne?

      Thanks Rich, its been over two years since I last fished the Dearne but have heard a few Barbel have been caught. Try Rver Dearne Fishing Forum and River Dearne Fishing & Banter on Facebook are both good places to find latest info. Thanks for Watching. Russ

      Park near Thaal restaurant Darfield and walk up river safest for your car or quickest is lay bye about 150 yards up road opposite side from Thaal Restaurant then walk about 50 yards up road theres a public footpath takes you down to river but boy racers meet up in that lay bye.

    great vids,been fishing the dearne for over 20 years,i learnt on the dove which empties into the dearne.it needs to be said if the fishing community and water board continue to ignore the foreign nationals that are fishing illegally I.e at night no licence taking them out and eating them it's a disgrace.i went Sunday morning to a spot I fish regular with my 5 year old son to be met at 6.30 in the morning by 5 drunk eastern Europeans cooking a fish in a make shift grill/ fire to basically be told it was there swim.had I not had my little boy with me and been with my fishing partners they would have been told what they were doing was illegal but I wasn't risking my son's safety.if nothing is done soon I shall take up another sport nearly 25 years I've been paying for a license.wheres the money go?????.

      Its a great shame to hear this from yet another angler. Its took many years hard work from both the Environment Agency and local Industry to clean and restock both the dearne and other rivers in south Yorkshire.

      +ukfishing I agree it was only a couple of years ago they released some barbel at baraugh green,darfield and Hoyle mill.all the places I fish.i hate still water fishing I'm a river man if things don't alter I fear they won't be any fish left I know some of the big barbel have gone from the river at broom hill.i fish the same swims I've been fishing years and had great success and now they just don't seem to be there,not as many trout neither.something needs doing it's a sport that's over looked and we the licence payers suffer as usual.sick of it them barbel we're making there way that far up the river I've caught small ones up to 2lb just as the dove meets the dearne,they would have spread up the little tributary dove but they won't get the chance at this rate,am fuming.

      I've copied and pasted your comment and concern on both the river dearne fishing forum and river don fishing forum on facebook. Its caused quite a stir and looks like its reaching the right people to look into it.
