They don't have to trade down and theres no guarantee there were offers that would make that worth it. They had an opportunity to get a difference maker and took it. Just like last year, except last year they did trade down instead of drafting Jalen Carter. Plus they only have 1 year of Allen, so getting a rookie that can grow with Williams was a great move. Obvious or not.

My fear with Nate Wiggins is how light he is. I don't like how much he reminds me of Emmanuel Forbes. Yeah he is the best corner in terms of coverage ability and preventing separation (in part, thanks to his elite recovery speed) but unless he bulks up, receivers like Chase, Higgins, Amari Cooper, and Pickens will just bully ball him at the catch point. The chase down plays are great (again thanks to his speed and high motor), but his poor size also shows up in run defense, he is so bad at shedding blocks that he is pretty much a non-factor.
Then if he does bulk up how much of that speed and elite coverage skill would he actually be able to retain?
He isn't that small. He's mainly lighter due to diet preferences from what I've heard. If he puts on weight he'll slow down to what? A 4.35 or something? He's not gonna suddenly lose his coverage ability
I think you're paying too much attention to it , and leaving out the team hes going to in Baltimore he's not going to need to shed those blocks frequently what they need is all you've mentioned, coverage ability,peak hustle, recovery speed and high motor all which he does at a near elite level so i think he'll fit in the puzzle and contribute

The fact that guys like Johnny Netwon, Adioni Mitchell, Cooper Dejean, Jackson Powers-Johnson, and other potential first round players are available in Round 2 is shocking!
Also, Atlanta was pretty stupid for taking Micheal Penix Jr at No.8. They should have taken Dallas Turner, and Penix could at least fall to the Raiders at 13. Because he would actually be needed there.
Atlanta is lucky to have 3 Day 2 picks, because they need to double down on edge rushers now.

Hey, I don't mean any disrespect, but I'd love to hear your perspective on why you think Drake May is the top quarterback in this draft class. As an amateur scout, my observations pointed out some concerns with his gameplay. Specifically, Drake May's footwork appears to be the sloppiest among the top six quarterbacks drafted in the first round. He often maintains a very narrow stance in the pocket and tends to cross his feet when backpedaling. Additionally, he frequently "steps in the bucket" during throws, leading to inconsistent pass quality. His pocket movement also seems less adept compared to others; he struggles to evade pressure and often opts to run rather than step up in the pocket to continue his scan downfield. His accuracy issues, largely stemming from poor footwork, further complicate his evaluation.
While I recognize that footwork is something that can potentially be developed, the other quarterbacks in this draft don't exhibit these issues as prominently. Drake May does have a strong arm, yet all the other first-round quarterbacks have shown the ability to make similar throws more consistently. Interestingly, J.J. McCarthy even recorded a faster velocity on his passes. Given that Drake fits the ideal quarterback mold in terms of height and weight, I'm curious about what you've seen in his play that might outweigh these concerns. What's your take?

Ravens have been desperate for a fluid coverage corner for quite some time, and if there’s any team that can improve the physical aspect of his game then it’s the Ravens. Also Marlon Humpthrey is a brilliant press corner so him and Nate will probably complement each other well
Teams that needed CB definitely came out victorious after the QB mania
Also if the Ravens D is as smart as last season you probably won’t see Nate having to cover more physical receivers as Marlon and Kyle Hamilton are among the best at that
Wiggins was the best choice out of the CBs for Baltimore too. Marlon and Stephens lack the motor that Wiggins has.
