Our first beach day of 2021 and this time I was testing out the Sony a7c with a new lens I've never used before, the Samyang 18mm f2.8 I love how small and light it is, but how will the quality compare to Sony lenses? Nice trip to the beach 🏖 Always tough with the wind. Crazy how much seaweed washed up. The sound was very good. Nice waves! Never knew that about the sharks. We enjoyed watching from beginning to end. Have a great weekend. It’s a great feeling to be fully vaccinated. Hopefully we can get our annual passes soon.
Thanks for watching, we love a nice beach day :) Was definitely windier than I had hoped but ya just never know what you'll get haha Being vaccinated does feel surreal, we are hoping to start some passes again soon, I heard Disney will let you start back if you ask for a manager and they can see you quit previous passes because of the closures.... just being back at Disney Springs was pretty exciting! Another vlog coming soon :)

Great idea for the kids to wear shirts in the water...guess that helps with sun protection too. Great that it was cloudy so the sun wasn't strong. Nice you and your hubby got your vaccines, we got ours last week :) Just subscribed.
Thank you! We are so happy to be fully vaccinated now, feels kinda surreal after all this time! Our state is only 40% vaccinated so I'll be happier getting out more when that's a little higher, here is Florida things are 100% open and its kinda uncomfortable for me at times, especially since the kids can't get one yet.
The shirts help a lot with sun, been doing it since they were babies and kept rolling with it, I have to super lotion every exposed inch of them (and me) haha but worth it to relax.

Oh wow! Florida has been wide open for awhile, but we have been slowly easing our way back out there 😆 no better place than the beach!

Thanks for visiting! We love the beach but had never seen so much seaweed washed up haha went again this Tuesday and it was almost all gone :)

One of our boys is fair skinned, strawberry blond hair and we use Blue Lizard sunscreen, which has zinc. It is a pain to rub in but it works really well. We usually apply it twice to his face on a Disney day and he never gets sunburned.
I wish our beaches were nice like this. When the wind blows it is incredibly cold and the water is freezing.
I'll have to check out that brand :) The stuff I use on them is real thick like that, real hard to get on too, but its like the only way they wont burn ya know haha We need a lot on Disney days too.
I heard the water was still very chilly over there, getting to the perfect temp here now (we went back this past Friday and it was finally warmer/perfect). We can't get enough of the beach :) Would love to visit a Cali beach one day!
Okay... this is way too many beach days! ha ha... living the life! I want to have access to a beach... we have gorgeous water at the Cottage but it is freezing cold all year long! May tends to be seaweed time... does it also stink up the beach there? Back home (Atlantic Canada), I never really noticed the smell... I think our temperatures were always lower and the water was always cold, so it didn't accelerate the decaying and drying process with the seaweed on shore... I heard Vero has smelly seaweed weeks in May...
We do love living near a beach :) My parents moved here when I was 4 from Illinois, my Mom wanted to live between Disney and the beach! I didn't realize the seaweed was a May thing! It was a tad stinky when standing by it but not down by the water luckily. I heard on local news it helps to rebuild the natural sand banks along the shore by washing up and breaking down. By our next visit it was drying up and washed further up by the sand banks and luckily the smell was gone :)

I love Florida! I spent Christmas there. Fort Lauderdale/del ray/pompano and up to Orlando!

That’s cool, we are a few hours North of there :) My parents moved here when I was 4 and I’ve been here ever since, love Florida.
This lens is the perfect mm and weight… but then I tried the Sony 20mm lol and now I’m so torn. I do take pics between videos and that’s another area the Sony 20mm did better.

Yeah I wanted the a7c for the best quality I could get out of compact camera, so I don’t want to give any of it up to a non-amazing lens :)

I've always wanted to stay in Florida you guys have pretty beaches oh no you had poison ivy I saw feet lol you guys looked like yall had fun hey hey I don't see no lifeguards grr
Yeah the poison ivy was rough, I guess I was REALLY allergic haha! Took about 2 months to fully heal! Happy to be back at the beach! The lifeguards are really spread out here, we don't usually end up by one but I just stay with the kids the whole time haha

Looks like a great place. I am just getting to explore FL. We just got back from St. Augustine. What time of mic do you use. I am always fight the wind.
We were so excited to get back to the beach :) Have you been to any of the drive on beaches yet? It's a lotta fun! I have a Sony camera so it was a Sony mic, plugs in the hot shoe and powered by the camera. Works great in normal places and did decent for this crazy wind lol It's the Sony ECM-XYST1M
Another local place that might interest you is Cassadaga, kinda our locally known spooky town ;)

Thanks for the video Molly! I have had this lens for a while on my A7iii but only used it for photos. I think the video looks pretty good. I have the A7iv on order and hope this will be a good vlog lens for it. Did you use the Sony software for stabilization for this video? Cheers.
Hey! Yes I did use the Catalyst to stabilize. My a7iv is being delivered today, I am SO excited! I also have the Sony 20mm now that I will mostly be using when I vlog with it but also on the hunt for a good zoom lens, looking at the Sony 24-105mm as a good all around starter. Do you have any zoom lenses?
@@MollyFitzBrown Thanks for the info the video looked great. I was thinking about the Sony 20mm but if that Samyang works out for me I will use that. I have the Tamron 17-28 f/2.8 that I am also going to use on the A7iv. I also have the 24-70 but that is too heavy and expensive for vlogging in my mind. I will most likely post a video about 18mm and 17-28 if my A7iv ever gets here :-)
@@PhotoGearFun Both good lenses! I'll keep an eye out for that :) I am hoping to throw something together with the 20mm and talk about Active Stabilization with vlogging, the feature I'm most interested in and finally no crop on 4k 30 so the AS won't take as much away from my shot.

Thanks :) I ran the clips through the Catalyst Browse app and cropped each clip to around 90-94%.

Video in Shutter or Aperture priority?
I left the camera in Auto so I could easily hit record for video or snap a quick pic. And the screen is not visible with sunglasses my on.
Looks fine buying 20 mill is a waste for vlogging this one is good enough

I get that, after seeing this footage I thought it looked good enough too, but now I've tried the 20mm and the quality seems quite a bit better (especially for pictures) so it might be winning me over now :) I mostly vlog with with the camera but also stop and take pics between video clips, so now I am torn!
