If you can’t get out before the water reaches your head start hyperventilating as fast as you can for 5-10 seconds and then hold as much air in your lungs as possible. This tricks your body into thinking you have more oxygen than you do. Giving you more time to escape. If you can’t use a headrest use anything possible to destroy those windows and get out. Your car is already lost and don’t worry about it. Your safety comes 1st.
I nearly drowned during Hurricane Ida and when my car stalled the first thing I did was lower my window... luckily, I was able to push the door open with feet of water pushing against it. I am just very thankful I made it out alive considering others did not. God bless them.
