- Here is my 1983 Mazda 929 Hardtop. These were the top of the line Mazda models back in the 1980’s and were available as a sedan or two door like this one. It is fitted with a 2 litre engine and 5 speed manual transmission although in Japan you could also get a Turbo. It has very cool LED instruments and I love the pop up rectangular headlights. I bought the car in Qld years ago and drove it to Melbourne. You don’t see many these days. What do you reckon?
You don’t see these anymore. Called the Cosmo in Japan this was released as the Mazda 929 here in Australia. It was available in a two door hardtop or a 4 door sedan. I always thought the styling was cool and remember them when they were new (gulp). What do you think? Cool or not? Please 👍 Like and Subscribe for more old car videos as it really helps the channel. Thanks again.
I have never seen a yellow body color.
Very cool.
Thanks very much Moto.
very cool Mark I've been searching for the 1984 Mazda 626 coupe my neighbour had one for years was very cool I recently asked him about it and he was shocked I remembered it was well over 25 years ago he said it gave him nothing but exciting times and regrets selling it now
In Japan they came with a rotary engine.
@@gav240z That's very Cool
Yes, I remember them when they were new. Not that powerful but really cool inside and out. I am sure if you look for one you could buy one but they are probably dearer these days?
That’s right. I think mine has the Japanese market tail lights but I have the original ones that I’ll re-fit. I would like the up spec 4 door of the same year too. Thanks for the comments and please subscribe for more old car videos.
pop up headlights !!
Maybe do a more in depth video on this one 👍
Thanks Lance. Will definitely do a full video and drive down the track. The Thumbnail shows the lights when they pop up. It is a cool little car.
WOW rare even when new :) love it
Thanks Tim. Yes, they were pretty thin on the ground as they weren’t that cheap at the time. Pretty cool hey?
@@markbehr88 Sure is. Strange to use such a tiny engine ( nothing wrong with a 2.0 ) but a small engine on a Luxury car. more so manual.
Thanks mark remember seeing the 929 Mazda new at Hornsby Mazda
Yes. I guess that was the Japanese interpretation of luxury back then.
Thanks Gerard. I can clearly remember that and still have the brochures too.
Yellow exterior, with brown dash and gray seats... Why not! ;)
Yes, along with shoulder pads and big hair and Atari it is very 1980’s and that’s what makes it kind of cool imo. Thanks Ivano!
@@markbehr88 It does! :)
Only channel that replies to all my comments and glad for it hehe
Appreciate it Ivano and all my subscribers. Thank you.
Love this car. Enough said . I would drive it as a daily.
Agree. I have liked these since they were new. I also like the four door pillarless sedan which had a small vertical bar chrome grille and long rectangular headlights.
Where can I get one in America I want one so bad
I don’t think they were ever sold there were there? I wonder why? I think it would have sold quite well but maybe it couldn’t pass the crash tests? Although the RX7 did? Not sure?
@@markbehr88 I want one so bad it's my dream car but not even jdm import sites have em listed in America these cars apparently are impossible to get
@@A_Terrible_Person Hi, you might have to watch Australian sites or maybe European as they were made left hand drive for Europe. Good luck with your search and glad you like the car. I will post some more videos on it driving etc when I get a chance so please keep subscribed and keep watching 👍 .
