Wow!! Great instructional Video on Bass Drum Technique!!
It's really all about timing. I always thought of it as 4s and 3s instead of sixtuplets and 32nd notes. The biggest thing is to make sure your notes all are even
Any tips? I wanna switch to bass drum as a brass player (ik its weird but i wanna get into percussion some how)
Pretty good video. Thanks for the concise lesson. This is great for showing kids new to bass.
That was a very helpful video thank you!!!
Thanks for this. im def gonna try this, I've tried alot of other exercises but i dont really understand some, but thanks again.
thats exactly how i was. i wanted to try something different so i joined marching band and picked bass cuz it seemed like the easiest but i really suck. my first year was my freshman year to (im a sophomore now) but i havent really improved much, i practice as much as possible. my advice to u is practice practice and practice, dont let anyone discourage u , (because some people will), try and really get to know your section leader and dont be afraid to ask for help. BTW what bass do u play?? i
KateLynn Prem I’m bass three out of four and I’ve been playing percussion for three years but I’m a freshmen this year and it’s my first time playing bass. I keep hitting my finger on the rim and suck at doing double strokes and my finger keeps sliding up the mallet lol I’m struggling. Ik this comment is five years old but I replied anyway lol
This is my second year in pit and Im a freshmen (in our district they allow 8th graders to do marching
Band) and I’m thinking of doing bass next season
Infinity Percussion used the same design on their drums this past season
I wanna be a bass drummer for marching season and im a trombone player for concert season lets hope i get to do it thansk for this video it helped
Ya, back when I posted that I didn't know if I could or not but the drumline has help sessions. I also religiously practiced the audition piece.
Nice video but can you please make a video on how to do really fast 32nd or sixtuplet splits because i'm neck and neck with one guy on my line and i see this being an opportunity to show him up thank you if you can and btw i subscribed so i'll see it if you make it
I wanna find bass lugs,
They brake so easily.
Solution plz
The best thing to do is to think ahead and just be ready to play before your part. You can't just jump into the split because you think of your it will be too late
@reptifreak99
I lol'd
Yes, because you know what it takes to make this line more than the instructor. of course.
That depends. Can you play 16th note triplets at 120bpm?
I am really nervous. Is it easy to get into a drumline as a freshman if the audition has 16th note triplets at 120 bpm?
I play tenor drum and we use straps and mallets
There's a WEST carolina?
its like a month already do you still have the same problem???
hey i need ALOT of help with my splits
i know what to do its just that i cant get the timing
PLEASE HELP
I guessing you all have a 8s split. I suggust practing all the parts (to get better spilts) with a metronome while marking time. Another one you can try is with a metronome, marktime and start counting 1 & 2 & 3... then try playing starting playing on 1 and when you get confortable then play on the & of 1 until you get confortable and so on. Always count playing splits. Use your feet, if you play on a down beat then play when you foot hits the ground and &s when your foot is halfway between.
yes, we've had band camp this whole week and its just so embarrasing that everyone else gets it but me. im bass 1 and yea the captain is supposed to be on bass 1 but im kind of skinny so they gave me bass 1 and the bass captain is number 5. is there anything at all you can do to help me because everyone tried to help but honestly i think they've just given up on me. i dont wanna quit but it seems like im gonna have to so i dont hold them back.
please helpp!!!!!!!!!
I know you've probably graduated and don't give a shit about band anymore but how was it? Did you quit or did you push through and allow yourself to get better?
play bass one and still have major back pains.
But anyways good luck and try not to worry so much :))
you attack the rim the same way you attack the bass head
0:21 "...many many wonderful drumlines all across the country, alot of them approach the drums differently, and they're still great. So, what I'm trying to do is to convey to you how WE approach the drums and how you can practice accordingly." gotta keep your ears open, as well as your mind, fellow musician. Different musicians have different ways of expressing their ideas and emotions. There are many ways to skin a cat ;)
You dont have to be``black`` for sharing reptifreak99;s opinion.Being able to let the beat flow is simply...a gift.
dafuq did i just read?
Guy talks too much. Less talk more action buddy
@sumbooodeeee im black and i play bass 5 @ my high school. We're c competition band in a school and city that is predominately black. That does mean anything. We don't make up "beats" those are only for cadences and only 2 of our stand tunes. So may you please take your mean racist stereotypical attitude and shove it where the sun don't shine. Thanx
He's like the Bob Ross of percussion😂♥️
Lmao
lol npor nctsme
@@stuartgibson2697understandable, I agree with you, Stuart.
