I saw it with my own eyes it was spectacular 😂😂
I was there; I wish I could record what my eye's saw and then replay it in slow motion for everyone else.
The only way I can explain it is, he climbed all over his bike to shift his weight and then lucked it out... but in like half a second...which to my eye's was just UN-fing-believable. Reactions of a cat on a hot roof isn't quick enough. He's like the fly that manages to avoid hitting every other fly (and you)when you try to swat it...like watching the flash at 3000 frames a second. I dunno pick one. Lol
The detective work and editing were fantastic. I'd seen most of the footage here and there but having it all neatly wrapped up in one coherent story was brilliant!
Red Bull, pay the man already; He's proven himself many times over and every minute you wait will cost you more.

looked very gentle for a crash at like 40mph
Everything looks gentle through a camera haha. T"he track is mellow, hes riding slow, that gap is a piece of cake, that off camber line isnt a big deal, if she is complaining about that tight turn then she should just do a stoppie"..... Just a few examples of my ignorant and over confident train thoughts while watching ews and dh racers send it lol. Some days, I really gotta take a reality check.

I must not be looking at this correctly. The crash footage makes it look (to me) like the front wheel slipped off of the side of the bridge closest to the camera which would be Aaron's left side. But the theory espoused by Ben is that the wheel slipped off the RIGHT side of the bridge, yes? By the way the rock at the end is wider than the bridge, and sticks out quite a bit on either side, I can see how slipping off either side of the bridge would be no bueno at high speed. But to me, the footage makes it look like it happened on the left side, not the right side.

I would love to know that from a clips rider: In such a sudden crash do you purposely clip out or just accidentally get out somehow? I can't even clip out if I wash out with the front in corners, so thats why I go ride flats for racing or situations where you are riding above 60 percent
I had a lot of crashes with clips and I always got out of them without even thinking about it. I can remember only three exceptions: two times a had quite straight OTBs where I catapulted the bike quite far through the air - once the bike literally hung in a tree then ;). So I must have clipped out only after the feet where up. And once I washed out on wet street markings on a cycle path and I was still clicked in after the fall.

I had an OTB scenario once too where I went over the top of a berm and was then catapulted forwards with me not getting out at all, I was just laying there still clipped in KO for a bit, when I fall sideways I get out almost everytime too tho. But in such a sudden crash like Gwin's I just cant get my head around of him purposely clipping out. He went in a hundreths part of a second he went from riding with eyes on the exit to fucking flying trough the air. I would love to ask him personally tho

100 % look at the fork compression. he went of the edge and front tire hit that rock instead of over the top like he planned. unfortunate.
he literally almost OTB off that first impact, but his skill kept him on the bike long enough to almost save it, but that second rock you mention prolly got him.

Hello Ben Cathro, by the way he fell because he made the wrong decision by moving backwards and getting worse with the level pedals. Instead of making a bearing. I rely on the fact that if he throws the body back, and because he had already seen the circuit and its shortcomings ... He missed the basics when entering a curve with the level pedal, which made him err only him and god they know.
Remembering that moving the body to bring any impact on the suspension will be folded when the body returns to the center of the shaft.
And by making a bearing, keeping the center of the axle makes it possible to increase the extension of the suspension action with the arms and body almost completely canceling a direct impact.

Ola Ben Cathro, para min ele caiu porque tomou a decisão errada ao se deslocar para atras e piorando ainda mais com os pedal nivelados. Ao invés de fazer um rolamento. Me apoio no fato de que se ele joga o corpo para atras, e porque ele já havia visto o circuito e suas deficiências...Ele errou no básico ao entrar em uma curva com o pedal nivelado, oque o fez errar só ele e deus sabem.
Lembrando que ao deslocar o corpo para traz qualquer impacto na suspensão sera dobrado quando o corpo voltar ao centro do eixo.
E ao fazer um rolamento, por você manter o centro do eixo possibilita aumentar a extensão da ação da suspensão com os braços e corpo anulando quase que por completo um impacto direto.
