    Insect spray, like all chemicals,MUST be handled with care. Although I don’t mention it in the video, it is smart to wear protective gear (gloves, etc.) when handling insecticides. Keep this and all other chemicals in a clearly marked container out of the reach of small children.

    I personally like the regular spray trigger option. The battery operated one doesn’t shoot as far as the regular one. Sometimes you might need to have a long shot to get to those certain areas. Plus the regular trigger option I believe is cheaper, I paid around $9 dollars at home depot for a big jug.

    • @ithinkaboutthings9052
      @ithinkaboutthings9052  Před rokem +1

      There’s something to be said for the simplicity of the regular trigger. The battery operated model may be easier for those with arthritis or something that would be irritated by the pumping action. I’ve heard more complaints about the battery powered sprayer. There’s always a trade off, isn’t there? Thanks for watching, Joe Schmoe. Lol @ that name.

      In my experience, it depends how heavy you spray and if you’re spraying carpeted areas or hardwood or tile. I think air flow would be involved, too. You might do a test spray in a small area to see if you need to adjust the spray or move along faster. Just make sure the area is dry before people and pets get nearby. I have heard that the fumes can bother some, although we have not experienced any issues.

    Everytime I have bought the Ortho spray the wand dosent work after 5-6 uses. Both the weed killer and the bug spray. Changed batteries , did everything I was supposed to do. Still won’t spray. Ortho should give a spray backup when purchasing.

    The real thing is Ortho needs to improve his wand, because it doesn’t work well. I carry up mine, check whole on/off, I put the tip of the wand on water and soup, rises it nothing work, I took off the red tip from the lid put the house on a cup full of water and press the wand works perfectly “water running out”, when I took out the nozzle from the bottle and put on the cup full of water I can see the water goes up from the clear hose that supposed to go in the bottler but reach to the half of the house, no enough power.

      @@mayalee2400 I will first defer to the label on the product. From there, our personal experience is that none of us humans, nor the hounds, seem to have been affected negatively. I usually split which rooms and the pooches are outside till everything is dry and any odor has dissipated. We also have a really good air filter and think that helps. I just make sure that tiled areas and carpeting is completely dry. But again: Be sure to read and follow ALL the instructions on that label.

    • @ithinkaboutthings9052
      @ithinkaboutthings9052  Před 2 lety +1

      It could be a defect. I would first adjust the sprayer to the wider setting and see if it changes. If the sprayer tip is too close to the floor, it will cause puddling so increase the distance a bit. If it doesn’t improve, check the store’s return policy. Let me know what happens. • @ithinkaboutthings9052
      @ithinkaboutthings9052  Před rokem +2

      Thanks for watching, Denisse. I would only use this spray around baseboards and the exterior perimeter of the house. The black insect near your plants might actually be one of the beneficial critters that eat damaging insects. For anything related to your flowers and shrubs, you should ask a local expert. I wouldn’t use it all over the lawn for the same reason. These products have specific uses. Your lawn is habitat for animals and bugs and worms that are actually good to have around. Home Defense should ONLY be used as a barrier for the house or garage or shed. Be careful to not overuse it and read the label. If the print it too small, you can use the camera on your phone to enlarge the tiny print or find a bigger version online. Thanks for your question. I hope this helps!

    I have a mite infestation in my unfinished basement should I vacuum first, mop with bleach/Dawn dish soap “the basement floor is quite dirty from construction workers walking down there, then spray with the home defense max?

    • @ithinkaboutthings9052
      @ithinkaboutthings9052  Před 2 lety +1

      Depending on the amount and size of the debris, I might spray first, let it dry, then pick up and vacuum. I would likely spray just around the edges or baseboard after. I think if you get a bunch of live mites in the vacuum, they might spread. If the floor is dirty, maybe mop after the first spray & cleanup/vacuuming.

    • @matthoffman6962
      @matthoffman6962 Před 2 lety +1

      @@ithinkaboutthings9052 thank you! That sounds like a great plan. I’ll pick up a jug of this tomorrow and spray it around the perimeter. Anything dirty down there is mostly small particles, this reddish brown substance from I guess the insulation and it being a new build so it’s in a few areas. It definitely needs a clean. As for the cleaning solution for mopping I think I might use borax, vinegar and some Dawn dish soap. Mix that all together. Mop the entire floor and then rinse it with warm buckets of water. Since the concrete is porous it might take a bit of time/days to dry but I’ll throw a dehumidifier down there. Then I’ll spray it again with this home defense spray. Fingers crossed it will work lol

      Apartments and duplexes are a different situation because if you have buggy neighbors, they just scurry back and forth. Does the management not have an exterminator on contract? You might discuss it with them to see if they can get something done.

      Check that the round white marker on the top of the cap is switched to the ON position. If the cap is damaged or not tightly sealed, it could cause the sprayer to lose pressure and the liquid may just bubble or drip off the nozzle. If it’s brand new, be sure to remove the little plastic tab that blocks the battery from sending power. Perhaps you can reach out to Ortho and get a replacement. That has worked for some people. The retailer might provide an exchange if your purchase was fairly recent. Let me know how it turns out. If you put the liquid into a new sprayer, be sure it is CLEARLY marked as POISON and keep it way out of children’s reach.

    I have to say, this whole set up is beyond exhausting. My wife shows up with this contraption and litterally no one in our household can figure out how to make this thing work. I would describe this as a perfect example of over-engineering something as simple as a bottle of bug spray. When you see a bug and you need to kill it nobody wants to have to watch a lengthy CZcams tutorial or read through an entire booklet of instructions as to how to make the spray function

    • @ithinkaboutthings9052
