      I have not seen I Am Number 4, but I heard it kinda compared to Twilight and trying to ride its coattails, which steered me righg off.

    Hayden Christensen's performance as Anakin was good; he was an emotionally stunted, frustrated young adult stuck in a world full of do nothing, obsessed with their own power bureaucrats (The Jedi). The Star Wars prequels were good films, you (Plinkett and Confused Matthew included) did not understand them because they weren't light action films like the originals.

    • @ShaunTheCHB
      @ShaunTheCHB Před 3 lety +2

      I have never understood the hate people give the prequels, I grew up with the originals, but I enjoyed the prequels. Darth Maul and his double lightsaber, Christopher Lee vs Yoda, The Podrace, seeing Palpatine fight with his lightsaber were among many good moments to me. I also liked Jar Jar Binks, even though it's declared a crime to do so apparently.
      It also made me somewhat annoyed at SW fans in general because of how hateful many were towards people who liked the prequel films.
      My friend Jadow has said to me on a few occasions that he had things he did about like the prequels but not ROTS for personal reasons and I think his reason is a pretty fair one at that.

    • @SihirbazTsar55
      @SihirbazTsar55 Před 3 lety

      @@ShaunTheCHB Some people didn't like the Prequels for the same reasons the music establishment didn't like Dio-era Sabbath - they wanted more of the same and were pissed that Iommi ( George Lucas) didn't want to do that.
      Others (the rabid Sequel trilogy fans) hate the Prequels for the same reason Clash fans hate Led Zeppelin - they overestimate the importance of what they like (In the case of Star Wars, the Sequels) and think that what they like is good because it follows what is what used to be under ground but is now popular; the Clash records "London Calling" and "Sandinista" mixed reggae and a bunch of other stuff into their sound the same way the Sequels and Disney's Star Wars copied what Marvel and other pop science fiction franchises were doing, to the point where they got J.J. Abrams to direct 2 of the films. Btw, Rian Johnson is the Joe Strummer of movies.
      And most people who don't like the prequels just don't like the Prequels, plain and simple

    • @Darklordjadow1
      @Darklordjadow1  Před 3 lety

      I recently revisited the prequels with my mom and aunt (we started doing movie night for want of something to do in the pandemic) and while they're not as bad as I remember, they're still not good; and the "you just don't get them" and "you just wanted more of this older thing" are the exact same empty strawman arguments that have been drilled into the ground by Snyder cultists trying to prop up Batman V Superman.

    • @SihirbazTsar55
      @SihirbazTsar55 Před 3 lety

      @@Darklordjadow1 You can have your opinion, but Rian Johnson is still the Joe Strummer (Or for the younglings the Zayin Malik) of movies; the fact of the matter is that those who did not have an understanding what Lucas was trying to do dominated the narrative, just as it does with those idiots who whine about post-Ozzy Sabbath. If you look at the reviews of the prequels, specifically Mr. Plinkett and Confused Matthew's reviews, you will see comparisons to things in the Original Trilogy. One example of these bullshit comparisons is "What the hell kind of Jedi are these? Guardians of truth and justice my ass!" In Confused Matthew's reviews, where he doesn't seem to understand that he is watching the Jedi in their lowest stage; this complaint is like listening to the Get Back bootlegs from 1969 and making criticism about the Beatles. Also Warner Bros. has a history of fucking directors over, like their former record label did with artists (The Warner Bros./ Prince feud is infamous); when Malcolm X was filmed Spike Lee fought with the brainless trust there several times, Warner Bros. screwed both Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher over when Batman Forever was made, they put Tenet on HBO Max contrary to the will of its creator (Christopher Nolan), and Warner Bros. gave the Iron Giant a small marketing budget and a weird release date among other examples of Warner Bros. screwing artists over. Those little shits owed Synder a due over as there is no movie without a director, but studio executives have as much to do with movie making as a burger flipper does in running a business.

    • @Darklordjadow1
      @Darklordjadow1  Před 3 lety

      @@SihirbazTsar55 You're ranting on like the films' protrayal of the Jedi is the prequels' only problem and the only thing people get hung up on; and it's not. And even if it were, as Linkara pointed out- the films are not staged to make it look like the Jedi are in the wrong. The novelizations at the time were pushing that the Jedi were obsolete because they clung to ancient doctrines that were outdated. By and large the hubristic interpretation of the Jedi is stuff that was added in later by the Clone Wars- which moved heaven and earth to retcon everything that didn't work about the prequels.
      The actual problems with the prequels are the weak villains (Count Dooku is only an exception because of Christopher Lee's performance and he barely sticks around for a third of one movie anyway), weak narratives with undeveloped characters, the garbage romance storyline, the awful stilted dialogue and performances; but as prequels to the original trilogy they just don't tell a good story of Darth Vader.
      Vader is supposed to be a Jedi who was seduced by the greater powers of the Dark Side and fell tragically. In the Prequels though, George Lucas was more interested in deconstructing the Chosen One trope and making political points about the Jedi's fall from grace; so instead Anakin is an asshole who already had craploads of power; who doesn't really believe in the Dark Side- but joins it because he's blackmailed by "gee, shame about your wife. You can only save her if you turn evil". His introduction as an asshole in Episode 2 makes it feel like the bulk of his arc took place offscreen, and in Episode 3 he goes from "I'm kinda pissed with my bosses" to "genocidal maniac trying to take over the galaxy" in like five minutes! Again: more stuff the Clone Wars series had to spend seven years fixing.
      And WB didn't owe Snyder shit- he tanked a surefire franchise with popular audiences within two movies; they were under no obligation to give him a third chance. Which he then squandered on a self-indulgent monument to himself.
