- I Shot this cinematic video video last week! Let me know if you want to see a breakdown of the shots and edit?!
Some time ago I saw this epic B ROLL film technique in video's of James Matthews and Daniel Schiffer. I wanted to see if I could do this too because it looked so tasty!
I called up a mate with his own restaurant, grabbed my gear and shot this naughty little video.
If you want to learn more about how to shoot food video's or how to shoot broll handheld, let me know! I tried to use a lot of smooth transitions and do a lot of handheld transitions. In camera transitions are a really cool and strong tool in filmmaking. I would love to make a how to film a cinematic sequence video and show what I think is epic b roll and smooth b roll.
Let me know what you guys think!
Check out James and Daniel, they're legends!

The salt over the black bars brutally blows my mind dude 🤯, soooo good
Haha thanks a lot! I loved how it turned out 😁👍
Really amazing work!🔥 That salt grains effect is what made me go mad. Would surely like to learn how to do it😊
Thank you so much dude! The salt shit was done with the Osmo action 😉 I hope I can make a tutorial video soon, would be cool to make that!
Dude! Amazing what you did with the masks! Wasn't expecting that and it gave the video a very unique look. Loved it! I might put those tricks into action! :P
Thanks a lot Raul! It was quite some work but so worth it. I knew there where some people who would really digg it 😁
So epic bro and loved it
Haha thanks! Epic is what I was going for 😀
Great opening and finish shot. The transitions in the middle where you kept going below the desk were so good man
Thank you so much!
Can you believe those shots where made on the first DJI Action on a selfie stick? 😁
Looks great man, nice flow!
Thanks a lot Sven 😁
Sooo cool how you had the handle of the steel going in front of the letterbox! So creative!
Thank you so much! Loved doing the effect. It's very subtle but it gives the video a whole different vibe!

Awesome Aspect Ratio
Thank you very much Marcos 👍
Very nice video. I am also interested in B-ROLL. I tried shooting it, but it's difficult. Thanks for the big tips! I will come to play again. With love from Japan :)
Thank you very much!
It takes a lot of practice and knowing your equipment... Everything is done manual and every shot took more than one time to shoot 🙂
Japan, nice! Hope to go there some day!
so cool!
Thanks! 😀

This was pretty awesome I love the way things passed over the letterbox. How do you do that editing trick? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks lot man! Loved the effect as well 🙂 it's a lot of key framing. All done by hand... No easy way around in I'm afraid haha. But once you get the hang of it, it gets easier!
@@bardomeister roto brush helps these days :)
@@eatmykwad yes indeed. The future is here haha 💪
Has to be one of the best videos i have see. I had to subscribe :)
Im a newbie & have a cannon 77d with standard 18-135mm lens.. i tried to do a few b rolls & when i try to zoom in to remove unwanted parts in POST, my quality decreases.. what lens would be best for b rolls & food videos like this please?
Also can you recomend a good lighting set, i have looked at softbox & led panels & am confused to what to get as a 2 in 1.. for pics & vids.. Looked at neewer & goodox.. can you recommend me a good one please as your lighting is spot on 👌
Thank you so much for the compliment!
I filmed this video on the 17-28mm Tamron lens. I love that for Broll. But I also use the 85mm a lot. It depends on what exactly you want to film.
This video is shot with the Nanlite Forza 60. I love that light!
@@bardomeister you have made my day by replying back promptly. I really appreciate all the information & will deffo be checking it out. It would be really good for you to show how you edit & some of them transitions & sound effects were epic! ☺️ once again.. keep up the good work

Love the video! Just curious, how many lights did you use to shoot the clip? It didn’t feel like there’s a light on top of the camera but I could be wrong. The filming and editing look AMAZING so want to learn more. Thank you!
Thanks a lot! It was just one light, a Forza 60! And some natural light here and there from te kitchen 😁
I’d love to use this in my video, is the a website somewhere where I can buy it?
Thanks for the compliment, but the footage is not for sale... I made it for this company specifically. Besides, it is way more fun to shoot it yourself 😎
What app did you use ??
I used Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects 😁
What lens are you using?
Tamron 17-28 f2.8 for the whole video! Apart from a few Osmo Action shots 😁
@@bardomeister thank you
Heel nice hoe je het 3d heb laten lijken met die black bars

Very well done, is it shot at 60 FPS??
Thanks! Well, in 100fps actually 😀 in the Netherlands we mostly use 50 and 100fps
@@bardomeister noted, thanks

Thank you so much! Yeah, that's a shame. Would love to know what they would like to see different 😀
