I've abandoned using all of the threat cards. Instead I created my own custom sheet and rearranged where monsters show up to be more appropriate depending on the world. For example, I feel that tentacles should only be in the swamps and targa (ice tentacles). Also I've included the additional custom enemies from hexcrawl (thugs, lackys, and henchmen only show up in the mines or canyons). I think the game is way more immersive this way and gets away from the limitations on the cards.
Thanks for doing this series. I've always been curious about SoB. I sort of wish there was a SoB 'Light' version with smaller footprint: no minis, just tokens for characters and monsters, and smaller footprint map tiles. Everything about the art, theme, and narrative appeals to me, but the physical (and thus psychological) footprint of SoB seems huge. I wish there was a 'Jaws-of-the-Lion'-esque version of this game. Or something.
@@TheDungeonDive No worries at all. I Still enjoy your discussion of the full sets and expansions. A quick google search did not really return anything useful about the starter sets, but I'll dig deeper.
I love seeing people go through their collections for this game. I have a ton of content and play this game a LOOOOOOT averaging close to twice a week sometimes for multiple missions but there is still stuff I havent seen or dont know where it is from. Or I think I have seen it but dont remember what ot comes in. So much so that I am often surprised by things when I open the bigger boxes. The money tokens in derelict ship being a recent example. I knew they were in the game but I just had my mind on astronaut zombies. Some of the lanterns in your artifacts. I might have them but I havent come across them yet. Haunted castle in FotD and thekind of wandering ghosts mechanic are other cool examples. The game is so full of surprises you cant keep track of them all.
your crazy heavy armour actually is real and is very very heavy. its very famous in Australia. Google "Ned Kelly armour". he was a bushranger from the 1880's and made it out of plow shears. it weighs 100lbs.
I really wish they would come out with a giant campaign book. This is a great game and I have really enjoyed it. But we are ready to have a bit of a different experience with the game and I just think a big campaign book would do the trick. Could add some depth to the story and enhance encounters and mechanics in the game. I just get so pulled into the art, theme and experience. Just ready to get into it again. Anybody out there got a voice at flying frog to make this happen.
@@TheDungeonDive I will check it out but I fear it might be a bit much for us. Daniel thanks for the amazing work. I am surprised at how closely my gaming aspirations and opinions are to your work. Good stuff!
Hi, late to the party. I got both core western sets. I wonder how you mix the cards together? I read somewhere that you cannot mix everything. Some cards are not meant to be mixed.
No, I don't. This will especially be true once the final wave of the FOFO stuff delivers, which I only have one thing from, and I didn't back anything from the last KS. Too much stuff! I have plenty!
The genre busting nature is my favorite part. I LOVE the weird west genre, too. One of my favorite genres in all the wide world of genre fiction. It's so fresh and exciting. Have you read much weird west, or are you just not a fan?

Totally! I use custom sub-sets of the cards to do the same thing. I’ll play with only 5 or so specific enemies for a certain maps/quests.

The new SOB Adventures starter sets are that, I believe. I didn't back them the last KS, but you might want to look into those.
@@TheDungeonDive Sweet! thanks for the tip!
@@bluebotic2327 I won't be featuring those at all in these videos because I didn't order them, and don't know enough about them.

Totally! This game is always surprising. One of its best features.

Oh that's awesome! Thanks for this. Love this kind of info.

Hexcrawl. It’s a giant campaign system for SOB. I won’t play without it.

Looks like a fun game. I have so much stuff for this on my shelf of shame
Wish I could get those packs for a decent rate, but shipping and tax etc from the US its just not worth it.
What are you using to hold your cards in this video? Where can I find one? Thanks in advance
Amazon. Hold It Card Organizer
Hi, late to the party. I got both core western sets. I wonder how you mix the cards together? I read somewhere that you cannot mix everything. Some cards are not meant to be mixed.
Everything can be mixed except for the loot and scavenge cards.
@@TheDungeonDive thanks!!!
Anything that doesn’t rely on a select number of things can be mixed. So don’t mix the encounter tokens either. Etc.
Did you make your card box?
Nope. Hold It Card Organizer.
@@TheDungeonDive Thanks!
All that d6 rolling is what i dont like, when I was playing the samourai with armor I had to roll so many dice. Even WHQ has a more elegant system.
Yeah, it's a lot. Too much even for me sometimes.
Do you have everything for SoB?
No, I don't. This will especially be true once the final wave of the FOFO stuff delivers, which I only have one thing from, and I didn't back anything from the last KS. Too much stuff! I have plenty!
Its a great game but i wish it was more of a straight up horror theme without any of the western elements
