I gotta say, I don't think the casual listener can begin to appreciate what Mr. McClintock has accomplished here...
It's one thing to alter the pitch and tempo of two songs, isolate certain tracks, and mash those together. Bill is far and away the best in the business when it comes to that.
But THIS particular mashup... if you're a die hard Van Halen fan, you hear it right away... that's NOT how DLR sang the song! Bill altered the tempo, cadence and inflection of INDIVIDUAL WORDS from the original vocal track, and did it so skillfully that it comes out sounding completely natural and unedited. It's the audio equivalent of a Deep Fake... he turned DLR into a country singer. This is Next Level stuff, even for McClintock.
BRAVO, sir.
P.S. am I crazy, or did I hear like 5 notes from the bridge of And The Cradle Will Rock thrown in there? Genius.

I gave it another listen after reading your comment. The thing that really stuck out was on the prechorus, while Dave normally does that as straight 8th notes, they're swung/shuffled. It feels so natural with the instrumentation, and it's done so subtly that it's easy to miss.
Roth's little screams over the lap steel were pure gold.
“I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet. But your kids are gonna love it.”
This quote comment and the Blues Brothers quote comment are absolutely the best.

This is hilarious and natural at the same time. Van Halen doesn't know yet they're also a country band.
Funny thing is a few years ago, there was an album out with artists doing country versions of Van Halen songs, a couple with Diamond Dave singing lead on them.
I think that there are lots of band who are capable of transposing this Country/Glam-Pop Rock mix into metal. Southern Metal bands...Well, Pantera, at the very least.

I'm a musician/producer myself and I sometimes make mash for fun. Hearing this, knowing what you've done with both songs, I'm pretty sure spent some hours. Totally worth it! This is brilliant ;-)
How do you do this? How can one take out the vocals from a recording without having the multitrack tapes?
@@micknordstrom2591 most of the higher end video editing software packages can do this now. I used to think the same thing and thought they had access to the master tapes somehow. 😆

Nice touch adding the final notes of the solo from "And the Cradle Will Rock" at the 2:19 mark. That lick is already very country-inspired, so it fits perfectly.

The call and response between Dave and the guitar runs are so damn good.
Roth was an amazing entertainer. If I go ahead and jump, I won't be brushing my ear with my leg. That goes for most circus performers too. The vocal attitude and melody fits nicely with the Hank Williams instrument parts. Roth's facial expressions, body language, and hairstyle would've been rejected by Hank Williams fans, way back in the day. It's amazingly flirty, sassy and cutesy with hilarious results. Roth is awesome.

Every single time I think Bill cannot outdo his last production, he astonishes me with another jaw dropping mashup. This is off the charts even more than so many other off the chart mash ups. "This cannot be unheard." BRILLIANT MARKETING!!!! 5 stars.
