Will Vampire at Chessington get REMOVED!?

- One of the UK's most well known classic coasters, amongst others like the Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Nemesis at Alton Towers, is the infamous Vampire suspended coaster at Chessington World of Adventures. Turning 32 years old this year, here i discuss my own and others' opinions on if it will get removed, when would it get removed, and if it did what would replace it?! Enjoy!

Vampire is actually pretty unique. It's been there so long, the trees have matured and grown up around it. I can't think of another uk coaster that has that 'flying through the woods' effect.

I know someone who used to work at chessington and it’s secret but they actually are getting rid of vampire in 4 years time.
Im biased- its a classic. It would be a real shame to see it go honestly
If they do remove it they’ll have to add a new roller coaster and we all know how much Merlin loves adding coasters to chessington 😩
But hoping it stays another 10 years as having an arrow suspended coaster in the Uk is still nice
Nothing lasts forever but I think Vampire still has a good 5-10 years left in it

Personally for a new addition at Chessington, I would love to see a dueling motorbike coaster themed to dune racing in Africa. I think it would fit well in the park and would definitely cause allot of attention as the UK and the rest of the world haven't seen many big dueling coasters recently. Or the park should make a Jungle or rainforest themed flying coaster where it makes you feel like a bird flying around the place would be pretty cool as the would both help expand on the world biomes sort of theme of the park!

Hello There, this is a great Video and personally I think the more likely option would be a full retrack as due to the stricter planning regulations they probably couldn't build a ride on the same scale. A great sense of humour, thank you for sharing this, it's much appreciated. Cheers Peter :)
I mean the vampire ride does need another update, but I don’t think that it needs to be removed
All it needs is a retrack imo
Planning permission would be a massive issue for them. If they replaced it, the layout of the new ride would have to follow the existing route pretty closely. Personally though, if the supports are in sound order, a full retrack and new trains, done by Vekoma most likely, would be great. Its such a rare ride these days, losing it completely would be a sad day imo
Great vid Dan, I’ve spoken to a couple of people who have said that it’ll definitely be open for this year, and I haven’t heard any news of closure, I hope it lasts a while longer because it’s one of my favourites in the uk

As much as its one of my favourite rollercoasters, even I am starting to suggest that it maybe time to see something new in that section of the park. Yes it will be sad to see it go, but if its retracked. Think either leave it same layout, but add preshow to it, update theming with more immersive theming or retrack via changing layout aswell updating theme both including new trains and painted track? But if removed, was hoping and thinking maybe a GCI Wooden Coaster going in there? Themed around the Gruffalo? Or a unique theme or even it being named something related to Vampire with references to the current rollercoaster there? If this happened? Would happily if offered have a piece of it for collection lol. Think more likely it will be retracked? But if not, understand its had its time and its time to move on with something new. A bike coaster could be promising, but the other one would be a Flying Coaster. Like Fly, that would be a good addition there especially for CWOA. Future is looking bright at Chessington and any are possible options, but yeah be really sad to see go, but 100% think its time for it to go. Be sold to another park I would support more, but unlikely to happen and instead be scrapped. But yeah, cheers for video, thoughts and wonder what will happen in future to this coaster? Highly doubt they’ll remove it anytime soon, more likely they’ll retract it as it fits the park well & is probably cost effective to run given how reliable it is.
Congo river rapids is that a thing anymore lucky if its open and never get wet but 1hr plus queues

Dan there is this app called Akinator and try’s to think what you are thinking and if you put it on objects it can try and guess roller coaster you are thinking of An idea for ya. Great vid tho as always 👍😊

Give it an overhaul because Chessington shouldn't lose a major coaster atm, do some retracking, repainting and some theming overhauls to keep it alive. Only one of those arrow suspended coasters outside America and one of the last in the world so it would be a massive shame to lose this beauty. If they get rid of the grufalo adventure IP they could turn the building into a trackless dark ride themed to the vampire itself, set within a castle.

I think it will .. it’s been 32 years since it’s opened and as chessington world of adventures is getting a new thrill coaster I think it would be replaced with maybe a Mac or a gurstlauerer eruofighter … I believe the park is going to get some thrill rides over the decade …

Unless they create a new flagship better than it - or fully switches to a kids based theme park - it'll probably stay for now like how the big one is staying at pleasure beach as its their big selling point lol
I don't think it would be closed for a while but when it does a Next Gen Vekoma Flyer would be amazing!
It is DEFINITELY back for this year- hopefully for the march opening if all goes to plan. Its also nice and clean as it got jet washed before winter tail, and the trains are getting their usual maintenance now. I think Vampire will live forever (or at least I hope so- its my favourite to work at) if it does get replaced I think it will just be with a newer model and retracked. I do have a suspicision of what the next coaster to leave the park will be but I'm keeping hush
Would not be easy to remove Vampire. I think it requires a wooden stake through the heart.

Also I cryed during this vid as vampire has been my fam tradition every year and I’d hate to stop that as it makes great memories and it’s great how it is I love it so much and I’d be super disappointed for my tradition to stop pls keep vampire it is history after all

no, its a staple of the park, like how AT wouldn't just remove nemesis, but people want it to become a family suspended coaster
i thought that they couldnt do anything with this area of land because getting planing permission there for anything else was nigh on impossible? apparently vampire caused complaints from the locals so nothing larger or even similar is likely to be granted permission in that location again. I think the park will keep running it until its no longer repairable.

I think vimpire will stay for along as it can it's always the one thing people go chessington for always the longest queues great for kids 1st coaster if they really had to do something I think would be a retrack or same model
